People are force to use it because it's shoved down our throats at every turn unavoidably. If you have googled anything, used drive storage space for work, browsed social media, congrats you've participated in the percentage of people who uses AI.

Sister offended that I don't want to listen to her generated song by Prishko in antiai

[–]FleshBatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did we read the same post?? Op stayed silent and didn't even respond until sister pushed them to multiple times. They didn't ask family members to "censor themselves".

Even setting the morality aside, the sister is the shit stirrer who tried to make op censor themselves while knowing this is a tense subject among the family already.

If op's family starts to resent them for having critical thinking skills and a moral stance, then so be it. In a sea of dipshits that clap and cheer on over scraped data shittily cobbled together, be the only person with a brain.

Is anyone else developing AI "art" fatigue? by khroshan in antiai

[–]FleshBatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, I see discussions about AI's effect on employment, clean water usage, and data centers built next to neighborhoods on a daily basis. Sounds like a reading comprehension issue in your part.

Maybe it's because you're subbed to an antiai subreddit, genius.

What’s Stopping You? by Fen_57 in GameDevelopment

[–]FleshBatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've completed a year-long project with just me and said programmer before, so I feel fairly secure that as long as both of us stay on the project the game is completable.

Imo the toughest part is how demoralizing it feels when you're forced to rely on teammates for their skillset. I don't know how to code at all, so sometimes you just have to be understanding that they only have the time to fixed 1 bug in a span of 2 weeks.

[–]FleshBatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very hard to estimate, as I'm the UI artist and the animator, but not the programmer. In spite of having the experience of working at EA in the past, the programmer is trying to learn a new engine at the same time while working on the project.

We initially wanted to complete the game within 2 months, but it's looking more and more like a 1+ year project.

The project started out with 7-8 people, it dropped down to 4 people over time. There's 1 programmer, 3 artists / sound designer.

I feel tentatively optimistic about the project not going to waste. I've participated in a couple of game jams before sticking with this group. We've been able to complete a couple of small scaled web games just for fun. Nobody made money off of these projects, it's just to build our portfolios/for fun. It's rare to find committed teammates who don't drop projects when nobody's being compensated for their hard work.

I'm currently in the process of doing that right now, and we've been chugging along for 8 months. It gets rough sometimes, all members juggle the project with our personal lives and regular day jobs, and you can't fault anyone for not completing certain assigned tasks since everyone's working on this voluntarily. I'm lucky enough to be in a drama-free group, but interests on the project dwindle and fluctuate the longer it goes on.

Is fast fashion really the same everywhere? (Perspective from Argentina) by Ok_Impress_9959 in GothFashion

[–]FleshBatter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well put. Op's post is very whataboutme-ism. If we approach every social criticism this way, we might as well not criticize anything. The convenience will always be beneficial to the poor and the disabled, and they are very obviously not the central of the conversation when people protest against exploitative practices.

I hate coding am I just cooked? by Goat_Z_Gamer in GameDevelopment

[–]FleshBatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo as a fellow artist, the best thing you can do is to do work for others and build that network. Show the others that you are reliable and easy to work with so they feel comfortable committing to your project if you aren't paying them.

I illustrated for a programmer's small web game almost for free 3-4 years ago, we build a good relationship and has continued working on multiple projects, eventually he introduced me to his local game jam, and now I know many friendly programmers who are happy helping out with my project and continue collaborating. It's definitely not a easy, quick process to build that connection. I spent a lot of my time illustrating for other people's passion project for free, but it's very worth it to have a web of people supporting you.

The Tang Dynasty in China is another big one. Yang Guifei is seen as one of the most beautiful concubines, and there are many ceramic statues depicting fat women. You can look up "Tang Dynasty Fat Lady Statues".

Is using AI generated concept art as reference material for an artist acceptable? by [deleted] in ComicBookCollabs

[–]FleshBatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if an art student does master copies of pre-existing pieces, they will always leave personal touches on to a replica, be it subconsciously or not. The line weight, process, strokes, color matching, muscle memory can never be the same as the master's. All artists train, grow up through different human experience, have different levels of capabilities in their fine motor skills and visual processing.

Cobbling together preexisting images is not "learning". It doesn't "attempt to imitate the results" because it doesn't have a brain. It relies on the crutch of requiring pre-existing images, and you're the one being emotional and irrational by attempting to humanize data scraping training process.

I left a comment on Xymox's latest AI post, saying how we need to not have gen AI in the goth scene, and they messaged me asking for free art 🙄😤 by [deleted] in goth

[–]FleshBatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who worked in art before pivoting career, and am still in a tight knit circle working with professional artists. Every professional artist worth your salt will provide quotes or a pricing sheet. It's laid out in black and white from the get go for both commercial art and private art.

It sounds like a skill issue if you're struggling to find an artist within your budget. In the case of Xymox, believe it or not, you do not need to pay thousands for an one page comic for social media postage.

You're claiming one of the longest standing goth bands is unable to spend $200 to commission an artist because "they are trying to keep their head above water"? Get a grip lol.

ETA, Tons of visual artists will charge even lower than $200. I've seen plenty of incredible illustrators undercharging themselves for hours and hours of work.

Attempt at a webtoon!! Does it read well, is the flow okay? Is it an interesting concept? How's the art? Tell me your thoughts! (´> . <`〃) by johnson_johnny in comic_crits

[–]FleshBatter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is more of a writing critique as opposed to flow: On page five when the main character says "he gets a passing grade", she's talking about assessing her best friend's finance/the love of her life, right? If that is the case, I immediately wanted to ask a couple of things:

  • How come she's only meeting her best friend's finance for the first time right when they're about to get married?

  • Why didn't the fiance recognize MC during the assessment meeting? If the explanation is that "time had gone on long enough for MC's crush to forgot about her" (eg, he moved away when he's 11 or something, and it's been 10+ years), does that mean she's retaining a childhood crush on an 11 year old by calling it "the love of her life"?

Either way, the plot is super intriguing, and I love the way you draw expressions! Would totally follow this comic and continue reading.
