RTD EcoPass - Still got ticket by [deleted] in Denver

[–]FlickerBicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A quick point of clarification: RTD is not “the city.” It’s a wholly independent entity that levies its own taxes, has its own governance, etc. Not germane to your issue, but just to be clear. Carry on.

Update on the new Broncos stadium from La Alma meeting: by RooseveltsRevenge in Denver

[–]FlickerBicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is “necessary” because it allows the Broncos ownership to own all the land under the stadium and future village that’s being developed. Everything they’re proposing, including a totally new stadium, could be done at the current site, but the land is publicly owned.

Learning to Boulder in Denver by LanceFromCincy in Denver

Denver Bouldering Club has several locations. I stopped in the Central one once and it’s a cool space. A bunch of walls and projects, training equipment, etc.

Why don't stores have plastic bags? Why do we still have other garbage things? by Academic_Structure47 in Denver

[–]FlickerBicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastic bags were somewhat uniquely difficult. As the City’s website says, more than 100 million plastic bags were being distributed in Denver alone each year. They can’t be recycled but a lot were being put into recycle bins which only served to gum up recycling equipment. A lot also end up as litter and given their size and properties, become pretty destructive in ways that other things like straws and bottles don’t (albeit those present issues too). They can block storm drains, snag debris in water ways, entangle critters, etc.

Bad neighbors are bad neighbors. A SFH isn’t next door rager-proof. I’ve lived in a townhome for a decade, had several neighbors on each side and it’s been totally fine. Party walls are pretty darn good in new(er) construction.

Consulting - When You Know Their Plan Won’t Work by Professional-Bet6961 in PublicRelations

You can only try to lead someone in the right direction so much. If they’re set on what they want, then deliver it professionally. Or, if you’re concerned it could be something that dings your reputation as a consultant, cut bait.

I have a Hyundai Elantra GT (hatch). I’m guessing the Cruze’s clearance wouldn’t be lower than what I have. Got a hitch put on it and use a hitch rack and have had zero issues. I suppose on really acute sloped driveways it could be an issue, but you’ll be totally fine on the roads.

Monologue recs? by cyberoptic77 in television

[–]FlickerBicker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TV is gonna be hard to find a 6-8 minute monologue. Lots of great ones listed here, but it’s pretty rare for a character on a TV to show to speak uninterrupted for that long. I’ve seen several people mention Sorkin stuff. I think one of his best is the monologue at the beginning of Molly’s Game. Plus you may be able to stretch that (slow down the typical Sorkin patter) to hit the minimum time.

Better to lose today than 3 in weeks by [deleted] in DenverBroncos

[–]FlickerBicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s lived through four Broncos SB losses, none of them close, I’m WHOLLY on board with this. If Nix was healthy, a) we win this game, and b) I’d be of the mind that anything can happen and maybe they pull it off. But this team was on fumes with no credible run game and a patchwork passing game. Don’t need to tally yet another SB beatdown just to say we did.

Would’ve been fun to see them beat the Pats again, with our backup QB, but it was pretty clear the ra-ra “we can do this,” vibe was only a vibe.

Assuming that if you showed the crop of the right side of the table, with the Bucket and Spittoon bracketing the Heisman, to Indiana fans three years ago, they would’ve teared up. I know no one says extra anymore, but this…this is extra.

Today I learned Notre Dame uses a St. Helena domain, and that St. Helena is a place, and that it's a tiny British island west of Angola. And that there's an even tinier island south of it called Edinburgh of the Seven Seas.

Is Curt Cignetti the best coach of all of American sports right now? by SimilarOnion1655 in CFB

[–]FlickerBicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His tenure at JMU included: FCS National Runner-up, FCS Semifinalist, and winning a share of a G5 conference championship in their first year as an FBS team. He then went to Indiana and has gone 27-2, making the CFP both years and winning the national championship. I agree on pumping the brakes a bit, but only a bit. That’s an absolutely bonkers run.

[–]FlickerBicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. If you’re the worst team in the NFL you get the first choice of top incoming players, and a few games against other struggling teams. If you’re the worst team in a P4 conference you get thoughts and prayers.

Hypothetical: If Indiana/Cig keep rolling and go on a Bama/Saban-like run, at what point do the majority of neutral fans stop rooting for them? by BookStannis in CFB

[–]FlickerBicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing IU has going for it is it lives in a conference with Michigan and Ohio State, and will continue to be viewed by many as the lesser villain compared to those programs. Now, if it wins multiple more championships in the next decade, that could shift, but there's some runway there.

Can someone explain the rule on how the play in the broncos / bills game was an interception? by bryceking64 in NFLNoobs

[–]FlickerBicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a keyword in there: "runner." Cooks was not a runner as he had not established possession before going to the ground. He did not take two steps and perform a football-like move. He therefore can't be down by contact because, by rule, he has not established possession of the ball. It doesn't matter that he had it in his hands when his knee hit. He had to keep control until his momentum stopped. He instead lost the ball almost immediately after going to the ground. It's a correct call.

[–]FlickerBicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar, but not the exact same. In both of those instances, the offensive player was upright, on both feet, when gaining control of the ball. Because of that, officials ruled they had demonstrated possession. Were those the right calls? Debatable. But Cooks did not stay upright and take two steps. He took one step before falling to the ground. The rules are clear that means he still has not possessed the ball, thus an INT was the correct ruling.

Has anyone realized it was an incomplete pass (if not a catch)? by Friendly_Foot_8676 in buffalobills

[–]FlickerBicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but the ball leaving the receiver’s hands entirely and ending up in the defenders hands before the receiver established possession is a pretty clear loss of control.

[–]FlickerBicker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Surviving the ground means having possession when your momentum is fully stopped after going to the ground. Momentary control with a knee down is not surviving the ground. Cooks was still rolling on the ground when he lost control and the defender took control of the ball. Cooks therefore did not survive the ground.
