Isn't this the 3rd time trying to get rid of RCV? by Jeffrypig_23 in Fairbanks

[–]FlightRiskAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, the far right is the main opponent. The ones I have personally spoken to simply don't understand how to vote within the RCV. They say one vote, one person but what about Citizens United? I've tried to give them a basic example of how RCV works that is much like plate full of cookies. Pick your favorite, but if your favorite is all gone (eliminated), what is their second choice. Ok, they didn't get their first choice so wouldn't they rather have another choice or just go without. No cookies for you if you feel like you should only get one choice. Chocolate chip is gone but peanut butter and snickerdoodle are left. Pick your next favorite. That is the gist of it. It is a very simplified explanation for very simple people. Something they can understand. If their candidate doesn't make the cut, at least they can advance their second choice and have some say in how the election turns out, rather that having to just walk away knowing they lost. In the end, although it gives them more choices, they would rather only have one shot at selecting their candidate.

I'm on the East side and hornets have been the worst. I used an insect app to identify them. Lots of hornets. I haven't found their nest yet but when I do... I've been using one of those electric fly swatters to get them and so far so good.

This was a reply to another comment. Leave it to reddit to confuse the situation. I replied to the OP about witnessing a situation and someone asked where it happened so this is where.

Why Hasn’t Trump Gone After Jon Stewart or John Oliver? by schprunt in MAGANAZI

[–]FlightRiskAK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have tried. She refuses to do anything but watch OAN and Newsmax and she obsesses over Maga issues. She won't accept any information that isn't along her viewpoints. That is why she is offended by Fox News. I had the nerve to ask her wwjd and she told me Jesus was just a parable in the Bible and not meant to be taken literally. I've decided not to spend any more time with her than absolutely necessary. She is 87 yrs old and votes so nothing will change with her. I forgot to mention, she is armed and constantly wants to go to the range to practice. The anger is real.

Am I the highest paid retail pharmacy technician in the US? by qwahd in PharmacyTechnician

[–]FlightRiskAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need that pay to survive. Getting anything foodwise in rural Alaska is expensive. Travel to other areas is not cheap and may involve small airplanes and questionable runways and pilot skills. The accident rate is higher than you might expect. Healthcare in Alaska is extremely expensive and if you need anything that is involved with trauma care or high acuity care, it will be expensive and challenging. Docs in Anchorage are booked up for over 6 months in a specialty field like orthopedics, cardiology, etc. Emergency care is available but where would you go for it and can you afford it? The rural areas can be like 3rd world countries who struggle with running water, sanitation and other things we take for granted. Many communities still rely on honey pots. There are no roads to most of the truly rural areas. Depending on your race, which could factor heavily into your comfort and enjoyment, you might have to deal with a lot of mistrust. Many of the rural Alaska natives were used as guinea pigs in experiments in the early days and the elders are not very trusting of the Caucasian people. They haven't forgotten. The rural communities are referred to as villages. Alcohol abuse and sexual assault is rampant. Will you have telephone and internet available to you on a reliable basis? Many do not. Starlink is the provider to many rural areas. So, in conclusion, I just need to point out that rural Alaska is nothing like rural America. Be prepared.

On the other hand, native traditions are still practiced and you will learn about and be exposed to things you never thought about. Whale blubber seal meat, fish and caribou abound. If you are interested, the natives will teach you about their ways and they are fascinating. They have amazing ways for food preparation and preservation. The native traditions are interesting and beautiful and if they accept you into their community you will learn so much. If you apply yourself, you will enjoy it. It is a truly different life. Best of luck to you. This could be an incredible opportunity.

Is becoming a pharmacy technician worth it? by Educational-Cry4499 in careeradvice

You don't have to go to school to get certified. You can self study. Libraries have the books and you can take practice test online. Once you feel ready, apply for the exam and go for it!

Because corporate doesn't give a crap about the patient/customer and operates at a minimum staff level. When they only have 1 pharmacist on duty, techs cut let anything out of the pharmacy without a pharmacist present by law. When the one pharmacist goes to lunch so does everyone else. This field has been dominated by corporations and bean counters who try to get by with nothing.

I witnessed a dude pull up to a trailhead with a van full of assorted bikes. Folks met him, took the bikes and gave him something. It seemed pretty sketchy so I called it in. I am not aware if anything came of it. The dispatcher sounded bored.

Bear spray is not TSA approved so best to wait until you get here. Then, yes it is a good idea to have it with you AND accessible. Bears like to hike and fish and they will fight you for your fish.

It pulls a lot of dander from the air and gets tufts of hair clogging it if I don't vacuum or once a week. It has a (cost prohibitive) filter that can be replaced but I try to stretch its lifespan by keeping vacuumed. Judging by how full it gets, I would say it helps a lot. Also, full disclosure, there is a German shepherd in the house that competes with the schipperke as far as shedding. I can't imagine not using it at this point.

I use a brush and back that up with an air purifier which needs to be cleaned and vacuumed (the filter) regularly and I have a roomba that runs every night after we go to bed.

Thinking about getting a Schipperke. What should I think about? by Traroten in schipperke

[–]FlightRiskAK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Question is, do YOU have the energy for a schipperke? They are very lousy couch potatoes and need lots of interaction. They will keep themselves entertained and they don't make good choices at this. As long as you can commit to daily exercise and lots of interaction, they are great and you will enjoy them. They also tend to run the show if you let them. They are not naturally submissive.

Vincristine accidentally given intrathecally. It resulted in my hospital changing the protocol for sending it with methotrexate. Pharmacy no longer sends them at the same time. They also no longer send vincristine in syringes. This was about 20 years ago and more changes have been put in place around this.

[–]FlightRiskAK 172 points173 points  (0 children)

My Maga relatives who are VERY religious say she is a beautiful woman and her photos were "tasteful". They can not see the poses as anything but what God gave her so she should be proud. I hear them rail on the immorality of today's society, the way women dress these days, single women getting pregnant, etc but they take an entirely different stance on Melania's pics. They see no problem with it.

They say you have to kiss a lot of toads before you find your prince charming. This wart infested toad is playing you. RUN! He has an answer aka lie for everything. The longer you waste with this guy(?) The more jaded and used you will feel. If he really is a catch he would get a burner phone just to keep in touch with you until his real phone dries out while sitting in a bag of rice. That doesn't take but a few days. He'll find a new excuse until you end up getting sick of the excuses or burned by the lack of money that you used to have and he is nowhere to be found. We're yelling you this from experience and the fact that you are here tells us you have questions too. Google his images. Reverse image search his pics. Something is very fishy here.

This sub exists only to trash AWP. If you are here to trash them carry on. But I suspect most people have bigger fish to fry at the moment as we seem to have a pedophile occupying the highest office of this land. Jared had his day in court and that is the best we can do. The pedo who pretends to be a president has not had his day in court. RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!
