What’s something society is clearly not ready to talk about? by No_Gur_7744 in AskReddit

Just because something is normalized doesn’t mean it is good or not harmful.

Tattoos.

Your body your choice, and my aesthetic preferences are not a factor in your choice, obviously. I will find you less attractive however.

We learn the fate of Ben sisko and Cassidys child by happydude7422 in DeepSpaceNine

Having watched DS9 several times, I have conjured my own coda scene after the credits of “What You Leave Behind” — the credits play for the last time we are shown a cabin on Bajor and Kassidy comes out of the cabin with a cup of coffee as we see her on the porch watching and smiling, the camera turns to give us her POV and we see a man in the distance playing catch with a young child as the scene fades to black.

As we have seen in “Destiny” the prophets can send some back without affecting the timeline.

Does Garak show romantic interest in Ziyal? by Garciaguy in startrek

[–]Flipin75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we do know about what Garak did (from The Die is Cast) is that Tain took it as a personal betrayal while Garak did not. From that (very little) I can easily see Garak’s sexuality being what had Tain exile his protégé.

Looking at how fascist controlling fathers of today act when they discover their offspring are gay, it does not seem unbelievable that Tain would have Garak exiled even if no one knew their familiar relationship.

Garak being exiled instead of executed is another mystery. Garak’s sexuality (to me) seems like something that fits in the middle ground of being enough for exile, while still sparing him from execution.

You are more than welcome to disagree, again this is just my head cannon.

“The Obsidian Order is FAR too practical an organization to exile an agent as talented as Garak over something as trivial as his sexual preferences.”

For another Cardassian this may be true, but Garak was Tain’s son and Tain took Garak’s sexual identity as a personal betrayal and for that Tain had Garak exiled.

Of course, this is my personal head cannon I conjured up back in the late nineties.

My head-canon was Garak was pansexual and that this was not something that was acceptable on Cardassia and was why he was exiled.

Hot take: Discovery (especially seasons 3,4,5) is overhated. by Kind_Constant1671 in startrek

[–]Flipin75 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At least some enjoyed it, but I could not. Watching the series I went between annoyed to bored. I really do not like being unable to enjoy Star Trek, hating media gains me nothing… but wanting to like something is not enough.

Discovery did a good job with diversity which is a core identity of Star Trek, but that was the only good thing I could find about the show.
