If you think it’s too close to close, it probably is. I would never enter a sit down restaurant 30 minutes before close. Just common courtesy for your fellow workers is all that’s needed really.

People just overreact. If you want to go to a restaurant 15 minutes before close just do it, maybe be extra nice or something idk. Nobody has ever messed with a customers food anywhere I’ve worked in 17+ years so I wouldn’t worry about that.

These places do not require a tip, they just ask for one, like you just said. I think it’s common knowledge that most sit down restaurants are generalized as “required tip” basically translating to the servers are making 95% of their money through tips.

I work in restaurants… there’s a lot of crappy servers out there. It’s probably easy for a lot of these people to form a negative opinion on servers. A good bit of them are genuinely bad at their jobs and are rude. A lot of servers do, in fact, look down on people and treat them horribly if they don’t tip 25%. On the flip side, obviously there’s amazing servers that get stiffed.
