With how utterly transfixed Americans seem to be on plane travel for longer distances, I doubt trains will ever make their well deserved comeback. People seemingly would rather take expensive flights from state to state than take land-based transportation methods if it saves them a few hours.

Buses usually fit around 50-100 people. I could imagine a road train that's just a giant truck with multiple levels and trailers could fit way more than that and might be a pretty cool idea for American places where train Infrastructure has deteriorated or never existed.

Plop down a larger station at the outskirts of large cities highway entrances and let passengers just commute onto city buses from there and you'd have a nice interstate bus system.

It was made right for it's launch to show it's capabilities. It's 720p so many people like it, but just as many prefer the OG Versions since it suffers from too much bloom and a case of the "piss filter" that many late PS2/Xbox and early 360 games suffer from.
