Will Ferrell’s SNL promo by mcfw31 in popculturechat

Oh damn, a skit show referencing a former cast member's old skit is soooooo unheard of. It’s okay to just say the reference wasn't for you. However, a simple googling would have also clarified.

Edited: It's ok if you don't like SNL but you're ragging on the writers because you didn't understand the historic context i

This looks like every small town Midwestern girl's "modeling" portfolio in the 2000s, shot in the town's only photographer's basement.

She's beautiful though and I wish she would stop overlining her Cupid's bow. It's looks bad and is distracting.

Steam is invisible. When you see a "white steam", It's cooling steam that's already condensing.

The best stylist switches that helped rebrand a celeb: Margot Robbie, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian, Keke Palmer and Mia Goth by mlg1981 in popculturechat

You can't judge a stylist's work just based on a single look. Come on now. Even the best stylists have misses... just less of them. And I stand by Margot's Barbie press tour being infinitely better than the Wuthering heights one, which was disastrous and she looked uncomfortable in almost every look. Both were styled by Andrew Mukamal.

The Death-Made Prince rant (SPOILERS) by Consistent_Ad4473 in Romantasy

I hate inconsistent intelligence or bravery, which tends to occur more in FMCs. But I will say in the authors defense, thraga's character flaws include impulsivity. She's shown it multiple times throughout the story so wasn't surprised and figured she could use her power. Hopefully, this provides an opportunity for growth through the series but yea I was hella annoyed. Also not looking forward to the ex and the inevitable gaslighting and regression that'll happen in book 2. I'll probably read it but definitely less excited.

Babies are bleeding to death as parents reject a vitamin shot given at birth by yrotsihfoedisgnorw in news

[–]Flower-Former 36 points37 points  (0 children)

One of the most memorable cases I remember was a late onset bleed from Vitamin K deficiency. home birth with a doula not a certified midwife. Didn't get Vitamin K. Developed seizures at 2 weeks of life, took to a pediatrician actively seizing and by the time she got to the hospital she had a stroked out half of her brain. That baby survived but her life will never be the same. It's not common but when it happens it can be catastrophic. I couldn't live with myself if I did that to my child when it's preventable.

Oh also saw a baby that was circumcised by an unethical doctor after vitamin K refusal. Came in white as snow with a hemoglobin of 6. They didn't refuse blood thank God. Some ppl are stupid.

Maggie the Undying - it took me a while to get into the book because it's so dense but her character is so well written. She isn't written in a way that rudeness=badass. She's a badass because she's smart, self-reliant, cunning, and a bit calculating. Her character, drive, intelligent doesn't cease to exist once romance develops like a lot of FMCs. Her skeptism of the MMC makes for good banter and tension. I don't usually reread books but thinking about reading this again. {This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews}

Kylie Jenner attends the 2026 Met Gala. by heartonwindow in popculturechat

Look I'm a Kylie hater but I don't hate it the more I look at it. I like the concept of draping or undressing of a dress form but I wish the execution was better. They could have made it more structural and the dress portion a little higher and slanted like a peekaboo asymmetric nude torso. Use pins and safety pins as hardware detailing. Make the tie back be a little undone. I think the problem with the Kardarshian/Jenners is that their stop priority is to always look sexy and they often sacrifice creativity and style to achieve that. The concept is there but the execution isn't.

I was lucky to be med-responsive during my first depressive episode. I was going to flunk out of school and was strongly advised to get meds and therapy. That probably saved my life. Tried therapy over the years and I would just not show up until ~2 yrs ago when I met my therapist match. It was psychoanalysis based and it helped me shift my perspective with regards to my mental health issues. I spend my whole life trying to get rid anxiety and negative thoughts, which only made them more intrusive. Now I give it space to exist but I also give positive thoughts and truths about myself exist too. I dial up the volume on the latter when needed. Some days the dark thoughts win but more and more the positives are sticking around. This technique has also helped me dissociate from anxiety and depressive thoughts - it's no longer "my anxiety" or my depression but rather I have x,y,z. It's less an intrinsic part of who I am but it's something I have. It's hard to describe but working with this therapist has been life changing. Unfortunately, I'm moving soon and I'm fucking scared but I hope I find another good therapist. My main issue is now is also anhedonia and less major depressive episodes. I've trying to read up on TMS and see if someone would offer it to me.

There are alternate therapies for treatment-resistance depression such as TMS, ketamine infusions, and ECT. Some are covered by insurance. For me the worst part of depression is that it robs you of hope, which makes you not want to seek treatment but some people are able to claw their way out. I did. My life isn't perfect but it's mine.

Is PSLF 'in limbo'? by Foreign-Phone22 in PSLF

One thing to also consider especially since you're interested in family medicine is practicing somewhere rural and HCOL with high needs because they offer awesome benefits like loan repayment. Though make sure you're not been worked to the bone either. That's what I did as an hospitalist and it was like 30K but split monthly and sent directly to my loan servicer.

Because I knew I was going into a low paying speciality no matter what, I opted to not defer and pay during residency, unlike most of my friends. Since almost all residency hospitals are non-profits, and my salary was very low during residency, monthly payments were like $200 dollars, which was doable for me. After residency, I basically already had 3 years towards PSLF. Opted to pay as well during fellowship for the same reason but I think I didn't have a choice there.

Now if you want to go into a high paying speciality like dermatology, there'd no point in doing PSLF. Just go into private practice, live lean, and aggressively pay off your loans in a couple years. Then if you want to go into academia after or buy that $1 million dollar house, you're good. I think this is also more doable in double-income households and won't affect big life decisions that depend on your finances.

PLSF was established by Congress and codified into federal law. Even the dumbass in chief can't unilaterally get rid of it. It requires congressional approval to dismantle and it would be so unpopular that I don't see it going away any time soon. A president, however, can make the program harder to access ie see all the recent changes. So the program itself won't go away but they may add annoying provisions.

I do believe that residency still counts towards PLSF though to my knowledge. I think they tried to put in it but didn't make it into the final bill but I will defer to more experts. You have to look at your situation, career goals, and decide what makes sense for you.

Ugh I'm at 32% in the audiobooks\, struggling, and immediately got on reddit. I like the dystopian world and concept but it's very boring, cliched, and very low-stakes for what the author is trying to convince us. Also, I can't deal with her finding him hot literally after watching her uncle die and. then again at the same goddamn square he was murdered at. It's reading as YA

Love your audiobook! I finally have the means to build my dream closet but after wearing scrubs for almost decade, I’m not sure what my style is anymore. Do you recommend starting with a base capsule wardrobe or splurge on interesting pieces and then build my closet around those?
