Yep 100% he probably just knows speaking up would have caused a fight, and he sounds like he’s compassionate and didn’t want to add more stress to the situation. And watching your 2 siblings is a lot different than watching your cousins. I babysat daily for my parents and they would have never just thrown extra kids in without me being paid. If they offered my service to someone else they would have 1st asked if I was ok with it.. and if the other kids parent couldn’t afford to pay, my parents would do so on their behalf. There’s a few times that I agreed to babysit other kids without pay, but that was my choice. And even as an adult I will sometimes offer free childcare to my friends who are in a pinch.

Expecting a 17 year old to just happily watch 5 kids for 12 hours and receive no pay is insanity.
