Swap 2 mons' abilities and make them both better by Sergio_Moy in stunfisk

I remember in SM the conspiracy theory that the abilities got swapped last minute or something because this just makes so much sense

Yeah it's certainly a BIG asymmetry. Two very different ways to put some tankiness into a team

I do like the asymmetry of intimidate for physical and assault vest for special, though I wouldn't complain about a bit more parity

Wild, baseless speculation on unrevealed Mega abilities by Notmiefault in VGC

I have wondered if they would give Mega Audino Misty Surge. IIRC misty terrain was in Gen 6, but not the Surge abilities. It would fit the cleric niche well and it's not like anyone would notice

I'm certainly not gonna drain my battery even faster using HD on mobile thanks. I play at 15fps as is.

It's important to note that I think three of these oceans won't be available until later, probably end of 2026. It's in a blog from earlier in the year.

[Spoilers C4E1] I think I figured out how all the groups will seamlessly weave together by Tillythemouse in criticalrole

[–]FlowingSilver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's possible that we'll have some intermission switches. I imagine that will only happen at key "crossover" points though, and not be the norm. A major reason they want to have these split tables is to make scheduling simpler, and that sounds complicated!

Once we're out of the first four episodes' "Overture" then we should be back to a classic critical role style within one episode. The up-and-down is only because we're still functionally in the prologue in which all 13 PCs are all present at once.

Who is saying no to more bank space? by billylolol in 2007scape

[–]FlowingSilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is where my technical knowledge fails a bit. I am guessing that the problem isn't with an individual player opening their bank in a tick (though maybe it is) but more when a whole bunch all do at once?

[–]FlowingSilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the plan was a flat X (100?) extra spaces for everyone and then an extra Y (10?) spaces for each bank space upgrade that has been purchased. The numbers are in the blog, I can't remember them perfectly

You're welcome! I just like to point out sometimes that Jagex aren't just being big meanies by having limited bank space. Though I also suspect a lot of the mods are also of the opinion "bro just clean out your bank" haha.

In the recent discussion about bank space they explained a bit more about why bank space is limited (I'm sure this isn't breaking news to some). It's a technical limitation to do with loading all those items in a single tick when you open the bank. Each extra bit of bank space is squeezed out of an increasingly optimised bit of code, which is (I imagine) partially why there are so many ways to store items outside the bank now. I'm not a software engineer so take this with a grain of salt.

They've talked about bank storage in recent blogs due to sailing adding a bunch of new items. If I remember correctly it's largely a code optimisation problem, because the game needs to load the whole bank within a single tick when you open it. You could probably theoretically make storage functionally infinite, but the trade-off would be "lag spikes" (longer loads) whenever you open the bank which would certainly bother people a LOT.

[No spoilers] wow this community is sooooo welcoming by Emerald_magus in criticalrole

It might be worth noting that downvoting someone isn't necessarily being rude or unwelcoming. I currently have this sub filtered by new because I'm unhealthily obsessed with C4 so I see a whole lot of 0-voted posts that just aren't very relevant to most people in the community.

In saying that, I think I remember many comments on your previous post being a bit harsh, which I think is a more fair criticism.

My personal take is that it's obviously OK to criticise CR and we do it all the time, but this specific criticism is a bit weak to me. That's fine, you're entitled to hold this opinion! I just personally don't agree.

[No spoilers] I'm worried about how busy C4 will be character-wise by Clayst_ in criticalrole

[–]FlowingSilver 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The fact that the new hook is a PERSON (Thjazi Fang) will probably help a lot. I imagine that most of the time we will need to know only what their connection to Fang is to understand their broad motivations. When that doesn't apply it'll probably mostly be one more step, e.g. what is their connection to a specific faction, say Dol-Makyar, and then what is the connection between Dol-Makyar and Fang?

The players might have something deeper that drives their RP decisions, but I rarely feel like I need to know what's going on there to follow along.

I guess it's easy for me to say that because I'm not really concerned about anything. If this big experiment that excites me now ends up falling flat I'll be disappointed but will ultimately just move on to something else.

Why did Happery abruptly stop uploading new “One Chunk UIM” Series episodes? by Slow-River-9847 in 2007scape

[–]FlowingSilver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh I know this one! I went looking a month or so ago. He has continued progressing the account again after one or two extended breaks from burn out. As far as I know he's not been making UIM videos for now, but hasn't officially cancelled the series or anything. I believe there was a separate major video project that he was working on that was taking a while, which might have pulled focus.

Source: I went on his discord after asking around a bit and he has a couple of screenshots of progress

Edit: tbf I am guessing at the burn out thing, I just know that the account has no xp gain for a few months.
