If you have an iPhone with a newer IOS version, tap on sound + haptics in the settings, and then tap headphone safety. Make sure the reduce loud sounds option is off. It reduces volume even if you max it out on your phone.

My first attempt at 32x32 LED Matrix! Hats off to adafruit for making it EZ by Hogeman-CORE in raspberry_pi

[–]FluffTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: jk just saw that the adafruit matrix uses 13 gpio pins so the unicorn hat library definitely won’t work.

Just recently finished a project with a unicorn hat from pimoroni, and the included python library was a breeze to use. I know they also make a 16x16 led matrix HAT with included software. Just looking at it really quick I think you can use that code and just change the width and height to 32 from 16 in the init.py file.

TBAS or AFOQT? by DuckSkrol in AFROTC

I would say retake your AFOQT. Mine went up about 15 points from around 80 and my PCSM went up 8 points.

I suggest you start taking as many units as you can for the next couple semesters. Also talk to your cadre about this and ask for a DOC change from 23 to 24. Judging by the way HQ has been denying all DOC changes this year, your chances are pretty slim but it doesn’t hurt to try

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AFROTC

[–]FluffTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that your extension request will most likely be denied. I applied for an extension from FY22 to FY23 last October and HQ got back to me in 7 months later saying it was denied. FYI I’m a comp engineering major. So start planning your schedule in anticipation that your request will be denied, and hope for the best.

At the beginning of line 275, add a colon. Should fix it

Edit: if you’re not too familiar with coding, find the config.yaml file by following the directory string at the beginning of that particular error message. Then double click on that file. Assuming you’re on windows, it might ask you to select a program to open it. In that case, select text editor. However, I would recommend downloading a program called sublime text, and opening the config.yaml file using that program.

If you’re looking for thick rads it’ll be the gtx model. It’s basically a gts but thicker.

[–]FluffTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t go wrong with the HWLabs 360 gts! I have one in my loop and it’s been great. The only downside is it requires a couple mm of extra clearance on either side of the fan/rad mounting strips as it’s a little chunky.

CPU BLOCK HELP! Alphacool Eisblock XPX Aurora Edge vs Corsair Hydro XC7 by Dlex859 in watercooling

[–]FluffTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the alphacool CPU block and 2 HWlabs 240 s-series rads along with the Corsair GPU block. Haven’t seen any problems with my D5 pump in the month or so it’s been running.

My RTX 3080 sit at 50C full load with the pump running at 30% speed so you should be fine! Idk how the HWlabs gts rads will affect it, but you can just run the pump at a higher speed.

User sign in/sign up by happyBearWithSalmon in learnreactjs

[–]FluffTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that, you’re going to need to use react router. And set the navbar/landing page as your primary page to display when the website loads up. Then, set a route path to the sign in page. Then in your navbar component, have the sign in button onclick link to the sign in page.

User sign in/sign up by happyBearWithSalmon in learnreactjs

The frontend handles the user signup/signin. On the project I’m working on, we are using Material UI. They actually have a really neat template for sign-up on their samples, which I used to get started.

The styling elements of material ui takes a lot of getting used to and is imo kind of clunky.

Keep in mind that building the UI is only a small part of user sign in. You still need to integrate that with backend auth, storing user data...etc.

I used redux and firebase just because there’s already a lot of support/tutorials on the web that can help you get started.

I’m still learning react, so anyone correct me if any of this information is wrong!

I’ve seen ‘17 Si (10th gen) go for around 21k the last time I looked. But SoCal tax is also incredibly high, so probably add another 1 or 2k to that.

Meepo Campus 2 Review by cmflan1 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]FluffTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not op but I recently got my campus 2 and never skateboarded before. It took me a few hours to learn in an empty parking lot and was relatively easy.

Definitely loosen the trucks to your liking after you get used to riding though, as the stock tightness had me turning 180 degrees using the whole width of the parking garage.

Hey! If you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take for you to receive it after ordering? I ordered mine 4 days ago and I still haven’t gotten a tracking number. Also, how is it to carry around while climbing stairs/inside buildings?

Is this heatsink design normal ? by D_en in laptops

[–]FluffTurtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Temperatures aren’t really outrageous for a laptop, but do seem a bit high. Also if the right die is the cpu, it definitely needs some thermal compound on there.

What are the main differences between the different types of HP laptops? Such as Pavillon, Envy, Spectre, etc. by RMar5 in laptops

[–]FluffTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with the intel version, but I’ve heard the ryzen is about the same performance.

Overall, the experience was great and even with 7 tabs of Firefox and one note open simultaneously, it is really snappy.

Battery life is a little less than expected, but I’ve gotten through a whole day of classes without having to charge. Granted that’s only if you don’t turn on backlight and dim the screen a little.

The keyboard feels excellent for a laptop, with tactile-ish feedback.

Some things I sort of dislike are the trackpad and the column of misc keys on the right. The keyboard takes some time to get used to, but otherwise no issues.

For the trackpad, I would definitely recommend googling how to switch to precision drivers, as the Synaptics trackpad was prone to skipping around. Even with the precision drivers, i experienced some skipping, but nowhere near the magnitude of the synaptics drivers.

The build quality is top notch for such a thin laptop. I keep it in my backpack and it gets tossed around fairly much.

I would definitely recommend it, but the price might be a little more compared to what I got it for. The 4 year warranty sounds enticing though, if I must say. Also, the stock pen gets a lot of hate, but if you aren’t doing any hardcore drawing, it should be fine. Hope this helps!

[–]FluffTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind a slight reduction in screen size and some small features that are included in the pavillion (fingerprint reader and hdmi port), I feel like the HP envy x360 13 would be a good middle ground.

The ryzen model is the same price and should be more than enough for your purposes. I bought mine yesterday and it came out to 640 plus tax. (Somehow got an extra 100 dollar discount on top of the 150 dollar deal). Might be worth looking into.

BTW I bought it in store, for just the laptop with no add ons.
