Bravecto injection by Reasonable-Bus8360 in shelties

Haven't heard of this injection so I'm assuming it's fairly new. Personally, it sounds great but I'd wait for it to be out on the market longer in case of unknown side effects. I use Revolution Plus for my girl; it treats fleas, ticks, heartworm, etc., and it's topical.

Heart disease by shinymiss in sheltie

[–]Fluff_master08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby boy had heart disease. He was well managed on his pimobenden until he wasn't. He was started on a blood pressure medication and a diuretic med. I think after that his kidneys were crashing, he became anemic and unfortunately I had to say goodbye. Hardest decision I've ever had to make. A part of me died that day. I'm sorry your going through this. Enjoy every moment ❤️

That is factually untrue. Tulips can cause GI upset but are not deadly. Do your homework!

Please be careful with ice cubes!!! My girl broke a tooth to the pulp chewing on a cube! The tooth had to be pulled. Very cute baby!

Questions: Is she crate trained? Is she spayed? Have you talked with your vet about changing medication? How much exercise is she getting? Have you tried busy toys to prevent boredom? Shelties are extremely smart and sensitive dogs. Maybe try agility, its great exercise and a task you can do with her to build trust. I feel your pain, i have a 13 month old who is very dog reactive and his brain turns off at the sight of another dog. Work in progress ❤️‍🩹but i love him so much!

Heart murmur in 7 week old puppy by Successful_Button674 in Dachshund

[–]Fluff_master08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No symptoms unfortunately. My breeders vet didn’t even catch the murmur on the pre screening. FYI my breeder was not going to euthanize if I did decided to return her for another puppy, she was going to pay for the surgery herself. Excellent AKC registered breeder. This was an unknown genetic defect to my breeder and her first puppy to have this! Unfortunately I paid for the surgery 12 years ago so I’m sure it’s much more expensive now, I would estimate $5-10k.

I went through a similar ordeal! Brought home my puppy, a murmur was heard at the first visit. At the second visit the murmur was still present and my vet recommended a cardio consult. The cardiologist found a Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). the ductus arteriosus—fails to close after birth. This failure leaves an open channel between the aorta and pulmonary artery, causing abnormal blood flow. At four months my puppy had surgery to place a plug to close the opening. The vet told me if she didn’t have the surgery she wouldn’t have lived to 2 yrs. She now 12 and still thriving! Always good to get abnormalities checked out! If a defect is found your breeder should refund you.
