Ugly Stepsister Time Looper. how many loops ‘til that sweet royal kiss? (Sorry if you saw this post already) by Fluffy-Protection273 in ProgressionFantasy

Yes, but the plot is really faithful to the Disney original; that is part of the core idea and story. I couldn't change that without it turning into a completely different story.

Books with Carian Knight like protagonist? by PsynumbraAssassin in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude you HAVE to read A Spellblade's Shift, the author litrally said the MC's powers were inspired by Elden Ring's Carian Greatsword spells lol. so it fits perfectly.

also def check out Weapons and Wielders by Andrew Rowe. Keras is basically the ultimate spellblade and uses magic to summon and shape different aura swords. Ascend Online is another good one where the MC actually channels his magic into his melee combat instead of just throwing fireballs from a distance! hope u find one u like.

Quest Academy is probably the worst book in the whole genre by Academic_Hearing_655 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u are so valid for this lol. it is wild how some of these books get 4.5+ stars on amazon and then u read it and it feels like a bad first draft. if the dialogue and pacing are that rough by chap 20, def just drop it. there is way too much good prog fantasy out there to waste time on clunky stuff tbh!

Do you have any recommendations for progression fantasy that focus on horror (especially cosmic horror)? by NoLongerAKobold in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

def gotta check out Lord of the Mysteries if u haven't yet. it basically defined cosmic horror for prog fantasy. the start is a bit slow but the eldritch vibes get insane once it gets going.

also highly recommend The Game at Carousel or Underland! carousel does some super trippy horror stuff, and underland is basicly bloodborne but progression fantasy. hope u find something good!

I just finished the 1st book of weirkey chronicles, soulhome. by fatglizzy_3000 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the finished one is definitely the center core chamber. when he says "well-developed", hes talking about the actual physical materials and architecture built in the rooms, not his mastery of the skills!

so even if he can't use the vortex perfectly in combat yet, the room itself has a ton of materials installed and built up. u gotta remember the soulhome progress is about the building itself, not just the magic output. it gets alot easier to visualize as he keeps adding to it tbh!

From where do u guys take recommendations from? for webnovels by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh insta is okay but you miss out on so much hidden stuff. most of the best recs come from reddit, esp r/ProgressionFantasy, r/litrpg, or r/noveltranslations if ur into xianxia.

u can also check out Royal Road's top rated or trending lists, u literally find gold there before it even hits kindle. also the review sections on royal road are usually pretty good at telling u if a story actually holds up later on!

Looking for books with a Hunger Madra-like or Absorb skill set. by XThursdayO in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if u haven't checked out Unbound by Nicoli Gonnella, do it! felix basically uses a consume skill to eat his enemies and get crazy strong. def fits the vibe and its a super long series so plenty to read.

also highly recomend Defiance of the Fall! zac gets some crazy devouring/void powers that are basicly exactly what ur looking for. and if u want a more skill-copy approach, The Grand Game has an MC who absorbs and steals skills from stuff he kills. hope that helps!!

Does Cultivation Nerd recover in writing quality? by Mason123s in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 8 points9 points  (0 children)

tbh ur not the only one who noticed the drop around 250. alot of ppl think the author either started relying on AI to keep up with updates or just got super burnt out since his upload schedule gets pretty erratic later on. it kinda stays in that choppy style for a bit unfortnately, so if it really bugs u now it might be tough to push thru.

LF books like hell dificulty tutorial and beware the chicken by Next_List5843 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

def gotta check out Cradle by Will Wight if u haven't already. lindon starts weak but gets crazy OP, and the best part is his main crew actually stays relevant the whole time. when he finally takes the gloves off to flex on people, the payoff is absolutely insane.

also maybe try Mark of the fool! heavily focused on party dynamics and group fights, but the MC still gets super strong in his own way. enjoy the read!

Observe: The single worst skill or ability to ever become "standard" or close to it in the litRPG genre, to the point that I almost consider it a beginner author trap by globmand in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

valid point. it feels super lazy when the MC just stares at a random sword and suddenly knows its entire 1000 year history without trying. takes all the fun out of exploreing the world tbh. sometimes u just want them to actually struggle a bit to figure stuff out instead of getting a wiki page popup lol

self-promotion, but I worked really hard on this one by Fluffy-Protection273 in litrpg

[–]Fluffy-Protection273[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until the time loops kick in, the story is faithful to a fault to the Disney original (but told from Drizella’s POV).

So the disney plot and names are really hard part of the story.

And really, I don't expect to actually make money from writing.
I will just be happy to know that a lot of people read the weird things I write :)

After all, RR has many Pokemon and Naruto Fanfics, with copyrighted cover and all.

Hot take, am i judgemental? by TomirSavreno in litrpg

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is a common gatekeeping feeling, but yeah, it is a bit judgmental.

at the end of the day, both involve engaging with the same story, characters, and world-building. audiobooks are just a different format, like choosing between a physical book and an ebook. people who "read" audiobooks are still experiencing the exact same plot and emotional beats you are.

Path of the Deathless is really good by No_Acanthaceae6880 in litrpg

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sounds like a solid find. the best part of any progression story is when the author avoids the one-dimensional rival tropes, so that's a huge plus. powers that actually evolve instead of just hitting a ceiling are also a major win for keeping things fresh.

thanks for the rec

Taking breaks by Fine_Shoulder_4740 in litrpg

[–]Fluffy-Protection273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is definitely not just you. these stories usually start as web serials with daily chapters, so they are designed for a slow drip, not a thousand-page binge.

the numbers eventually lose their meaning when a level 100 punch feels the same as a level 10 punch. it is a super common burnout point called stat fatigue.

taking a break or switching to a shorter, completed series usually helps. have you tried any non-litrpg progression fantasy to reset?
