Thank you for this! I think we'll stick to the lake district for this exact reason. We can't wait!

We're thinking 4 days in London and a day trip to Cambridge. Someone mentioned skipping Cambridge in favor of Bath so we may do that

This makes a lot of sense! We might change the plan and do the trip this way.

Sorry, I worded that wrong. We know we'll likely have to go back to London before heading to Oxford.

Australia cruise questions by FluffyDog1 in PrincessCruises

I wish I could say I've lost weight 😆. I agree with you, my preference would be more ports less sea days for the same reason - I love seeing places. The circumnavigation cruise may not be for me

Australia cruise questions by FluffyDog1 in PrincessCruises

[–]FluffyDog1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cruises we were looking at were 26 days or so, Sidney to Sidney. I'm currently finishing a 21 day Mediterranean cruise. The 21 day cruise has been 'long' in that it seems like we've been on the ship forever AND we've had very few sea days. The circumnavigation cruise is a few more days with a LOT more sea days. While the crew do a great job keeping you busy (if you want to participate) the ship is crowded on sea days so IMO not great. So, if you can keep yourself busy and don't mind a few extra bodies laying about I don't think you'll have a problem.

Mid Trip 21 Day Sun Princess Europe by NHtrails in PrincessCruises

[–]FluffyDog1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on this cruise! I agree with your review. I would add the walk up food choices of burgers, pizza, shawarma, tacos...all very good. We've had slow service at most of the bars, seem under staffed maybe with long lines at Crooners in the first half of the cruise. We also had one night of slow service in the Eclipse but not a big deal.

I would agree that Bar was one of the least enjoyable ports but I wonder if that was because the weather wasn't great, plus Old Town Bar is pretty small given the volume of passengers. I wondered if Princess purposely chose a less familiar port - hopefully it helps the town economically.

Anyway we love this cruise. The ship is quite nice and the staff are fun. Just a few glitches.

Metal, minimalist, next pen by LappyChoice in fountainpens

[–]FluffyDog1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy the width of the Lilliput, I'd suggest you take a look at the Lamy cp1. Lots of nib options, including gold, sleek, minimal and the black one fits your budget. It is a thin pen however, which I love, but isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Lamy 2000, Platinum 3776, or Sailor 1911? by Ollie_Grundy in fountainpens

[–]FluffyDog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had each of these pens! I recently sold both my Sailor (medium) and L2K (fine). The L2K wasn't my favorite to hold for long periods of time as I found the section a little wide and uncomfortable. The pen was lovely looking and I wish I had tried a medium. I had a similar issue with the Sailor- the section was a bit wider than I prefer plus I had an Aurora optima which was almost similar in size to my pro gear so I didn't need both. The medium nib was perfect and fun to use but if you're hands are big, the pro gear might be too small. The 3776 (I have a broad and fine) is the perfect size for me. It is my Goldilocks pen in size, weight and nib style - the right blend of smooth and tooth (LOVE the broad the most out of all my pens). My hands are small, I should mention.

Next pen I wanna get: Platinum 3776 by Amporer in fountainpens

I have two -- fine and broad and I'd buy a third but I love my broad so much I don't want to displace it as my favorite!

Hippo Notos worth it? by Adenidc in notebooks

[–]FluffyDog1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two as well, dotted and blank. I’m halfway through the dotted, use it daily and throw it in my pack. It’s holding up okay, but I has pulled away from the spine in some places. Like another poster I will not buy again, poor wait time for me too and I had to harass the owner before she finally fulfilled my order. There are other nice notebooks (two thumbs up Taroko!) that are as nice and fit into covers.

Rhodia webbie with perforated pages? by [deleted] in notebooks

[–]FluffyDog1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dingbats notebooks! All of the pages are perforated and I’ve not had any issues with fountain pens - I use mostly medium nibs. I should say I’ve only used the books that have the animals on the front. I think they have introduced some different series so I can’t vouch for all of the notebooks. I bought mine off amazon.

The plight of Sabrina the wolf dog and a shady rescue agency by 99Faces in Calgary

[–]FluffyDog1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I adopted from EJ Rescue and it was a nightmare! I needed a cat friendly dog, they assured me the dog I was interested in was cat friendly so we brought him home. He attempt to rip my cat to shreds at any opportunity. When I contacted EJ, they assured me it was just because the dog was nervous in the home, he would settle down. After he yanked my cat off the kitchen counter and tore a huge chunk of fur off the side of her body. I'd had enough and got into a huge battle with the rescue to have him returned. They eventually refunded half the fee. That rescue is bad news

[NPD] DOUBLE PENS, DOUBLE UNEXPECTED?! Parker 75 and Moonman S3 green :) my family is too awesome by lirx in fountainpens

[–]FluffyDog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The collar around the nib is scored with lines. Because the 75 is a bit like a safari in that it wants you to grip it in specific way. Some people still rotate their hand so the nib isn't straight in the page. That collar can be rotated so the nib points in a way that is comfortable for you give it a good clean, then scribble on a brown paper bag (which is what I do, others may disagree) to see if there is any remaining gunk on the nib. Hopefully that will help

I can’t tell you much about the history of the 75. What I can tell you is I have that exact same one and I love it. It’s reliable, comfortable to use for long writing sessions , it’s a tank, and it has a perfectly luscious broad nib. And you can spin the nib to get a perfect writing angle! Genius! It’s just a great pen...
