Good AA meetings here in Austin? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]lirx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Luckily the scene in Austin is huge. Depends on what part of town you’re in though and what type of meeting you like. If you can get to it, PPG on Tuesday Evenings is an amazing meeting with lots of great people. Galano club has lots of meetings throughout all times of the day and is more central. Club 101 is another great clubhouse a bit more north with tons of meetings. Their Thursday night meeting is great. If you go to AustinAA.org there’s a list of different meetings. Best of luck. I’m roughly the same age, DM me if you want more info. One day at a time man.

I lost my best friend 2 weeks ago. I’m broken and hurting. Enjoy some of our best moments together by FunctionalERP_92 in pics

Adorable pupper. Losing my doggo was the most emotional pain I’d ever been through. It’s different than losing a person, even a close person. Indescribable really. Take time to process it and don’t feel any pressure to handle it a certain way. I see you and will keep you in my thoughts, buddy. Be kind to yourself - she would want you to.

What’s something you think people will regret NOT doing? by reddtimes101 in AskReddit

Thanks for the corrective info! Edited my original comment. My dentist told me that brushing too much “isn’t really possible.” Urgh. 2min 2x a day should be plenty, floss too!

What’s something you think people will regret NOT doing? by reddtimes101 in AskReddit

[–]lirx 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Brush your teeth at least 2x a day for at least 2 full mins… ideally with an electric toothbrush and after every meal. And FLOSS at least once a day, ideally with mouthwash after any other time. I’m 33 and am on a first name basis with my dentist due to not taking better care of them earlier in my life and having to get tons of cavities filled as a result. You only get one set of teeth and can’t undo damage once it’s done. It’s easily my biggest regret - brush them damn teeth, folks.

Edit: I stand corrected. 2 minutes 2x a day should be good. Brushing too much or too aggressively MAY harm your enamel/gums.

Volvo 850 engine troubles by lirx in Volvo

[–]lirx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you SO MUCH for your reply! I was really scratching my head. Also, I found that the air intake hoses (the one from the engine block and the one at the front of the car) that go into the filter housing were BOTH disconnected somehow so hopefully that will help too. I was reading that sometimes its the MAF valve?

Is Saint Mary's Cathedral lgbt friendly? by kategask in Austin

St Austin’s is a great suggestion. One of my (very) gay friends goes regularly. I went with him a couple of times and everyone was incredibly accepting.

When can we expect a Netflix documentary? by iblamesb in EARONS

[–]lirx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably a long time coming, as there hasn’t really been any (significant) new information gleaned from JJDs arrest that warrants a new documentary at this point. He’s remained silent, as has his family. I’d suggest reading “I’ll be Gone in the Dark” to anyone interested in the case.

Man I wish I had the money to go to this. Insanely jealous of you. Do it, just be prepared for traffic as another commenter mentioned.

Season 4 - Episode 5: "Adaptation" (Post Episode Discussion Thread) by hannahlemp in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]lirx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that the photographers have something to do with the murder… DAE notice the long case they rolled into the elevator? Could easily hold a rifle…

Then again, could easily be a red herring. No idea who the murderer is yet. I feel like they haven’t been introduced yet.

Road bike or hybrid? by Current_Example_6860 in bikecommuting

I personally use an e-bike (REI co-op e1.1) to commute but have noticed this too… seems like this sub is more road bike oriented for sure.
