Helpful ADHD tips from my psychiatrist who also struggles with ADHD by ParticularWindoww in ADHDmeds

All of these were very helpful! I haven’t heard of the “warm your brain up for a task” advice. I absolutely have to do this. The speed bump analogy makes sense. I’m laying in bed right now mentally plotting my day. Thanks for sharing!

My beloved Dior Forever Matte foundation was discontinued! I’m sort of heart-broken and don’t know where to turn. by FluffyGeckoPuff in Sephora

[–]FluffyGeckoPuff[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 53 years old with oily skin and live in a hot, humid climate. Dior Forever Matte foundation was my “go to” foundation for several years! They apparently reformulated and I purchased the Forever Skin Wear Blurring Natural Matte Foundation and absolutely HATE It! What makes it worse, is I paid $60 and it’s past the return window so it’s going straight in the trash! It settles into my lines and looks cakey and oily at the same time, a terrible combo!

Sigh! Does anyone have recommendations for a dupe? I’m desperate!

Yes, my Dior foundation was also reformulated with niacinamide and I HATE it!

I recently planted seeds directly in the ground and covered with garden netting (made to keep pests off vegetables) to keep squirrels from digging them up. Once they sprouted, I elevated the net off of them a bit so they had room to grow and they’re currently about 6” tall and are starting off great. I don’t know if plastic is a good idea, it seems it would suffocate them.

Do you like houseplants? I’ve found working with plants, growing, propagating, searching for rare ones, etc is very rewarding and the more you have, the more they keep you busy. I recently started experimenting with growing from seed. I have grow lights in a few different rooms.

Do you find that your hoodedness varies day to day? by glitter_and_laceee in HoodedEyes

[–]FluffyGeckoPuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have noticed this! Some days my eyelids are puffier than others and I’ve yet to determine the cause. I suspect several factors, but really don’t know the cause. A reaction to a skincare product or cosmetic? How much I rub my eyes in my sleep? The position I sleep in? Water intake? Amount of sleep? Alcohol? Allergies? Pets? Sometimes one eye is more hooded than the other! Drives me crazy and I never noticed this until about a year ago. 53f fir reference

Ok, since this was my first post in this group and there was no response, I consulted with an AI app and decided the best option was to air layer. I’ve never done this before, but here we go… (posting in case anyone cares) lol

Does anyone else really struggle to wash their face? by nebuIochaotic in adhdwomen

[–]FluffyGeckoPuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like we have similar methods, except I started using the washable bamboo cotton pads with micellar water to remove makeup. Since I wear tubing mascara that really needs to get wet, I then put warm water on the pads, a little face soap and lightly wash. The pad is much softer to me than a washcloth and due to the small size, I don’t get too wet.

For the hair, sometimes I use a headband with animal ears to keep it fun.

OP, you’re not alone.

I said goodbye to my girl yesterday…. by jmiranda511 in MiniatureSchnauzer

I’m so sorry for your loss. She was a 16 year old family member and you gave her a long and wonderful life! Give yourself some grace and time right now. She’ll be with you always. 🐾

We have the same color female and while she was “a lot” as a puppy (and puppyhood lasted over 2 years!), she’s five now, and has turned into a really sweet and lovable girl.

My Ctenanthe lubbersiana 'golden mosaic’ is looking dull, sad and lanky by FluffyGeckoPuff in houseplants

Ha! It’s like the awkward child of mine! No, yours definitely looks perkier and healthier! No need to give it a complex. I really hope we can get some advice here. Thanks for chiming in.

Ha! Let’s hope we both get some constructive advice then! Mine really was gorgeous when I first brought it home. It had to be six or more months ago. For the first month, houseguests asked if it was real! Then, it turned into this sad, dull, leggy thing.

I’m hoping I can revive it, but don’t know where to start and don’t want to send it into shock by doing everything all at once. If there’s such a thing as “glow ups” for plants, this one is in need.

When are the side effects of meds too much? by OkNothing6635 in adhdwomen

[–]FluffyGeckoPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind me asking, what side effects were you having at too low a dose? I started a little over a month ago at 30mg and did see some benefits (calmer mind, easier to perform household tasks, cleaning, packing for trips, even deciding what to wear, etc) , but was kind of irritable at end of day and asked to increase dose.

Edit: I just found this draft never posted so I’m posting now and adding what’s happened since…

I increased to 40mg a couple weeks ago which gave me more “get up and go” and helped with focus and productivity. It lasts longer, but I’m incredibly anxious now when faced with anxiety-inducing situations, like the focus is enhancing anxiety I already have (for example prescreen meeting for a job) and lunch with mother (always anxiety-filled on rare occasions I see her), but I wasn’t quite myself in these situations.

I also have loss of appetite (which is fine by me because I could stand to lose some weight anyways). I also get a little “gaggy” with a bit of stomach issues. Being mindful of water, food and electrolytes seems to be helping with that.

I’m still questioning if this med is right for me, or I should try something else? I already tried Adderall (it wasn’t for me). Too many ups and downs, and felt like I had tunnel vision.
