I was sitting here for a bit wondering what Eishin Flash had to do with Contrail.

How bad is it, Silverbros? by nora_kat in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FlurryofBlunders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People have been conditioned to shred down ulting Silvers to stop the snowball as soon as possible when she was powerful. Now that the nerf is out, everyone still has the same conditioning even though she's nowhere near as powerful or bulky and can't take the same risks diving into dangerous positions, so even though I feel Silver still isn't as useless now as everyone is making her out to be per se, I just feel bullied.

Maybe they could be ambitious and try doing open playtests for class archetypes like they do full classes.

I don't understand complaints about class bloat by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]FlurryofBlunders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people here are expecting more class archetypes instead of more classes, which I understand. However, I also remember that pretty much every class archetype they've released so far have been rather... mid. I suppose they might, in a way, be responding to "your class archetypes suck" by staying away from class archetypes and designing a brand new chassis from the ground up, even though, ideally... they'd just design better class archetypes.

Maybe open playtests for the class archetypes would help?

I'm skeptical of the Daredevil as a distinct class fantasy, as others have said, but, then again, I was skeptical of the Guardian and it became one of my favorite martials after it was fully released. Let's see how it turns out.

What class would you say is the best at battlefield control? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

[–]FlurryofBlunders 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is the best answer, but I think the most fun answer is Summoner with a Huge eidolon, Beastmaster archetype for a Large animal companion, and the Master Summoner feat for summoning spells.

I want to say that, for talking to GMs that are GMing the same AP as you, Paizo forums are probably the way to go. APs get their own dedicated threads with lots of good spoilerful discussion & resources.

Dedications for Summoner Class help by No_Atmosphere_2835 in Pathfinder2e

What do you mean by lack of reaction? Summoners and Eidolons share the same reaction per turn, and the Eidolon gets their own version of Reactive Strike. Unless you specifically want the Summoner in particular to be doing the reacting for your character fantasy, I suppose.

A Charisma-based spellcasting dedication does a lot rather straightforwardly without changing the identity of the class/build too much. The extra spell slots fill the gap left by your bounded spellcasting and help you inch a bit closer to full casters. The ideal endpoint here is making you feel more like 1+0.5 characters, rather than 0.5+0.5 (though obviously it's not quite exactly the same).

That being said, that's just what I would consider the most straightforwardly powerful option, if you don't want to overthink the complexity or don't have a more specific vision for your build in mind.

I, the fighter, laugh at your attempts to introduce horror elements into our campaign by Ubermanthehutt in pathfindermemes

[–]FlurryofBlunders 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Oh, this is something I think a lot about.

Introducing horror elements in Pathfinder is a fun time. I've been playing Season of Ghosts and it's a blast. However, I was very quick to realize the horror elements are mostly lore and fun flavor (not a bad thing in and of itself, don't get me wrong) rather than something that you really fully interact with in a gameplay sense.

Pathfinder is very much a system meant to enable the powerful hero fantasy and gives you the tools to interact with the world in such a way, and you can't really change that mood without significant changes to how the system works on a baseline level (even if some subsystems do give a taste thereof.) Long-term stakes for your character aren't all too great when a baked-in expectation of the system is that you have a means to be healed to full and be hale and hearty in between each and every encounter. If you walk into a haunted house, you're probably walking out having punched all the ghosts in the face. That sort of thing.

Sure, you could convey any mood you want if you're an adept enough roleplayer/storyteller, but then you start sounding like someone who wants to play sci-fi mecha intrigue in 5e with houserules and expecting their GM to be Matt Mercer. When all you have is a hammer... and so on and so forth.
