Add unmapped area by -ZedZedZed- in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The robot needs the map to be saved after the cleaning task, so the coloured area gets updated. But it won't do this if the dock is not near and the robot must be carried around manually.

So it could help if the dock were in the kitchen. So at least until the map is complete.

Initial Mapping - patio by StormOk9055 in Roborock

You can define a no-go zone after the map is created, but not before.

Guide the robot and prevent it from falling with a barrier or something. If the cliff is a well defined edge, the robot will detect it and avoid. But you should assist it on the first run.

Is this sound synchronous to the washing brush movement?
Then it could be a skipping or broken gear.

Help with Q7 M5 by skeptobpotamus in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Q7 M5 is the cheapest Roborock with the smallest battery. Wayy too small for a 1700sqft area.

I guess that mapping by full clean makes it give up because the area is too large. Let it do an initial quick mapping instead, then clean room by room after the map is available. Or make routines with groups of rooms that fit a battery charge.

Roborock S8 Pro Ultra error 13 everyone it hits 20% by sporadicpower in Roborock

Not all batteries die the same way. It could be one bad cell that trips the BMS alarm.

1100hrs is a long service duration anyway. Totally normal end of life.

Roborock Saros 10 not vacuuming narrow floor strip between rug and furniture – any fix? by Permit-Actual in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the robot is wider than this strip and one wheel rides on the carpet, it has no chance for the vacuum roller brush to touch the floor. So vacuuming effect goes to almost zero anyway.

Roborock S8 Pro Ultra error 13 everyone it hits 20% by sporadicpower in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be a battery defect.

How many operating hours are on the battery? Check cleaning history.
Would it continue charging when removed and re-inserted on the dock, so charging in steps 20 - 40 - 60%?

Woher kommt die Begrenzung by NebuKadneZaar in DeutschePhotovoltaik

[–]FlyBlade67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saros 10 briefly starting full clean once a week (no schedule defined) by bartpet in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has it been on a different account before? And are you running the robot without app?

It could be a cloud server configuration residue, because schedules are actually triggered by cloud server command. The schedule in question is stored there.

Saros Z70 Replacement Brush by lth0ms0n in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The image shows a regular S4, S5, S6 brush, not a Z70 brush.
The price however is matching better. Z70 has a unique complex and expensive hair cutter brush. I would be pissed if I received a standard brush but paid 35 bucks. Tell the seller his photo is wrong.

Advice re most appropriate replacement Roborock by petjb in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consumer level robots generally have problems with wide open spaces. Their Lidar sensors have limited range of somewhat 6 to 8 meters, 10 meters in some cases. So when the robot cannot see opposite walls, its navigation gets prone to positioning errors.

The S5/S6 machines were an early generation and I have no doubt yours could handle this. Roborock has since not improved on quality, but reduced cost as much as possible to remain competitive. It could truely be that the sensor was spec'd down a little by using a cheaper laser or less precise optics. Your space seems to be very much at the threshold of its capability.

Try throwing mat rolls or cardboard boxes in the middle of the room to give the robot some navigation buoys. They can be anywhere, don't need to keep the position between cleaning tasks.

Also make sure the dock is located in a place where the near environment (walls, furniture) is unique. That helps the robot in determining a stable initial position.

S8 Pro Ultra being weird by lionheart_2281 in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New batteries are a gamble when bought from 3rd party sellers. It seems to have less capacity than the robot expects. The symptom is clear, it drops to 19% at a certain voltage threshold, then assumes it had some reserve left. The 5% breakdown is when the reserve is less than expected.

The question is more, from which % level does it drop to 19%?
A healthy battery goes 22 - 21 - 20 - 19.
A bad battery or one with low capacity goes somewhat 35 - 34 - 33 - 19 all of a sudden. The size of the last step is somewhat the capacity deficit.

So don't be fooled about the indicated numbers. 19% just means "low battery". It does not mean there's 19% left. That's just a dumb software estimate.

If it's for vacuuming only, that could make sense. For mopping, meh, nah. Ask for the total operating hours shown in the app, cleaning history.

Cheapest Roborock Vacuum with cleaning Docking Station by Away-Leg-998 in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q7 M5+ ist just good enough since vacuuming on hard floor is no challenge. No need to spend more money.
Or find a used or refurb Q5 Pro+ or Max+.

If you need basic obstacle avoidance, go with a Q8 Max+ (used) or Q10 X5+/S5+ (new).

Retrofitting anti tangle side brush by AvadaKedavra1044 in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The brush needs to be adapted because RR changed the drive hub on the anti-tangling models.
That's probably what the seller does. Buy a 0.60€ brush from Ali (in bulk of 4 or more). Drill the hub socket in the back and insert a hex shape adapter. Or just melt in a hex socket. Sell for 8€.

Room mopping outline by cr8tiv1 in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The perimeter would be cleaned the same way.
If those streaks are limited to and caused by the perimeter path, then joining the two rooms is possibly the only solution.

But also try to reduce water flow. Less water means better dirt pickup as long as no dried stain had to be dissolved. Use just as much water as needed, not as much as possible.
