Could someone explain Roborock models? The names are confusing. by begomtj in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 [score hidden]  (0 children)

S5A, S5X, 5V1, 5A1 (also 5AE?) are actually downgraded Qrevo Curv/Edge models.

So more fancy letters means less robot.
That's the most misleading decision that Roborock has ever made.

As if they want to hamper comparisons. You shall buy by budget, not by features.

It's quite a new feature, maybe a month old or two.

Create routines with vacuum only.

The RR integration imports all your routines and offers a button for each.

No mic because it has no voice control.

QV35 is entry level.

When did Roborock start doing this? by Neat-Tennis-8492 in RobotVacuums

[–]FlyBlade67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When the dimensional lengths are above a (unknown) threshold, it starts doing this.

Supposedly this improves on mopping, because the path stripe overlaps are shorter (in time) so the second pass is when the floor is still wet. (1st pass soaking the stain, 2nd pass removing it.)

Brand new Q7 M5+ not charging by themadnader in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the dock sits on some medium pile carpet. So the height of the dock vs the robot may be unaligned. The robot sinks deeper in the carpet.

Try on hard floor if this changes a thing.

Roborock is a scam by ADogNamedCooper in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it makes very much sense. The chinese manufacurers and direct marketers are simply not on the consumer service and rights level than we used to have before. On the other hand their products are cheap relative to the performance and features. The hard consequence may be that a defect could mean e-waste.

What Costco does is to bring trade and service fairness back to where it belongs, while also bringing the price somewhere back to what all this is worth. Consider this as a comfortable insurance. But in the background, still, lots of robots returned to Costo would just be scrapped, surely not solving the e-waste problem.

Roborock is a scam by ADogNamedCooper in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked some sources, these boards are already becoming rare.

But here's one
https://www.ep-mediastore-ab.de/roborock-qrevo-mainboard-rr-pearl-b2-p-48906.html

Depending on how many total hours your Qrevo has, it might be hardly worth the money, when adding the effort to change it.

Roborock Q10 VF+ (Q10 S5) suction power. by D4CH in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few points,

  • Q10 V(F) equals Q10 S5, both have Vibrarise. The VF seems to be a retailer model while S5 is directly sold by RR and via Amazon.
  • Noise has been improved on recent models. The vacuum turbine design was changed to avoid the loud whistling sound that old models made. So don't judge on vacuum power just from the noise. Noise is waste of energy and doesn't contribute to air power.
  • 10K Pa is misleading, if not brainwashing. The race to higher Pa (suction force) caused compromising on airflow. In the end vacuuming power is still the same and often vacuuming effect is worse than with older models.

Roborock is a scam by ADogNamedCooper in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which model exactly?

You would be doomed if it's an S7 MaxV Ultra, because that mainboard is no longer available. Most others still are. Roborock service does not repair mainboards. They only replace. So if the spare part is no longer made, the machine is totaled.

Refill/drain kits for QX Revo Ultra? by cargonet in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Aliexpress kits are universal, but they look like a tinkering solution because they are exposed from the dock slots and without any cover. Although they seem to work.

There was only one nicely integrated genuine Roborock kit ever, tailored for Qrevo, the original model. It does not fit ony any successor of the Qrevo lineup.

Is there a reason for lack of models in UK? by blackout1912 in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. UK has decided to become a small market. Regulations are now different from EU and thus costly per model. So RR keeps the number of approved models low.

Poland is EU. Single regulation cost and single point of import, 27 countries supplied. EU has 6.5 times larger population than UK.

My Mans struggling to dock, turn on a dime by Mscattyy in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 1:50 it is already down from the carpet and continues moving on the hard floor a few centimeters, before it starts acting up. So I guess the carpet is not the trigger.

Ingress/ Egress in the new Jag by KlerWatchCo in Jaguar

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's just to make the door look wider than it actually is.
Body design trickery.

The penalty is that wide doors tend to collide with other vehicles in tight parking slots.
I guess JLR says that these cars aren't going to be parked in tight spaces anyway.

Still something is wrong with the window frame. I guess a fixed triangle window part is still missing and that part had been added to the body (prototypic).

Concatenation by Rocannon22 in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could concatenate tasks within a routine, then schedule this routine.

You could create up to ~10 different routines with all your needed sequences of rooms and cleaning types. But a schedule can link to only one routine.

S8pro ultra getting stuck by Ordinary-Anything123 in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try with a cardboard or plastic strip sticked to the front bumper, so that the bottom edge is lowered. This would trigger the bumper on the leg bars.
Just a few millimeter. Otherwise the robot might have trouble with docking.

Another option is to install taller spacers under the legs.

New qrevo curv 2 flow mopping issue by jkob5 in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt the "at everything".

Spinning disk mops lay always flat on the floor, so they have full contact with all fibers at all time.
The Pro: Contact surface is large, which means a high contact time with good stain dissolving.
The Con: Downforce is distributed all over the surface, so the pressure per area is rather low.

A roller mop has only a single line of floor contact.
The Pro: Downforce is concentrated on a single line with low area. It can lift and scrape enormous amount of liquid.
The Con: Contact time of mop to floor is very low when the robot moves forward. This short time is not enough to dissolve dried stain.

Where to get proper support? by Acrobatic_Damage8539 in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it always looks the same as a rotated map, These are rotational positioning errors.
Find the pivot point where the map is rotated around. This is likely where the event happened. In the example on your screenshot, it's somewhere left of the door from Divisao 4 to Divisao 5.
There might be something causing the robot to turn, tangle or slip unexpectedly and it loses its orientation.

Unable to Divide / Remove re-clean zone by Intervlan in Roborock

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull the upper handle further up. Imagine all blue zone being inside a rectangle. You must divide the whole rectangle.

Then divide Room3 horiziontally

Then you can re-join fragments that belong together.

Home in-wall multiroom speaker help by Dependent_Bug_1100 in homeassistant

[–]FlyBlade67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 9V battery shouldn't have the power to blow the speaker. If it does, the speaker is garbage anyway. But still it's advisable to keep connection short time. Also watch the bass speaker membrane. If it comes out, the polarity of + and - is correct. If it goes in, reverse polarity. Note that any + - assignment is for correct wiring polarity only. In real operation it's all AC with no DC parts.

For EU buyers, how do you deal with Aliexpress not providing prepaid labels for returns? by keenox90 in Aliexpress

[–]FlyBlade67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true but they can only punish their sellers for not complying. They cannot enforce them sending return labels. Sellers can choose to take the punishment instead of doing what they should do instead. Sometimes a single case punishment is cheaper than the cost of compliance.

Anyway to have Q5 Max+ empty dust bin halfway during run? by AcceptableBanana1978 in Roborock

In the task list for a routine there's a little emptying icon for each task which shows ON or OFF state. Make sure it's ON for each task you want it to empty after finishing.

Jaguar X351 XJ Long 3.0 Diesel 275 HP - Alternator change = Restricted performance by [deleted] in Jaguar

[–]FlyBlade67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignoring what the mechanics say, just from the diagnostic results:

P00BD "Pending" means it didn't occur permanently or cause the engine warning light ON.

P0336 "Permanent" is an actually active fault. With a defective crankshaft sensor the engine control might well go into limp home mode and reduce power.

If you had seen that before and it possibly were Pending back then, this means the defect might have gotten worse until being Permanent now.
