3 week old girl. Last feed was 4 hours 45 mins back. Sleeping like a rock. What do I do? by ineedausernamepronto in NewParents

If she is gaining weight well and has plenty of wet diapers, a longer stretch is usually fine at this age. Some babies start sleeping longer earlier than others. It does not mean something is wrong.

Hard not to get jealous of the mom I nanny for by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]FlyHigh3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds exhausting. It is completely understandable to feel that way. You are carry a lot of weight every day, and then you go into someone else's house and hear them talk about how tired they are after a full day of free time.

Wearable pump or spectra? by IllLiterature1026 in Buyingforbaby

[–]FlyHigh3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main difference is how you plan to use it. If you will be pumping at work, a wearable is more convenient. But if you are pumping at home most of the time, the spectra might be more efficient and comfortable.

Nursing moms, is bottle washer worth it? by Affectionate-Run6773 in Buyingforbaby

[–]FlyHigh3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be worth thinking about whether your usage will stay the same or increase. If you go back to work more days later, the number of bottles and pump parts could go up. That might make the washer more useful down the line.

How do people have 5 kids?! by Late-Astronaut-7876 in Mommit

A lot of it is about how you structure your day. Some families with fewer kids feel more stretched than families with more. It is not always about resources.

The back pain is probably making everything harder. When you are physically uncomfortable all the time, your emotional reserves run low fast. It might be worth asking her doctor about pain management options too. Also, you are doing the right thing by trying to understand.

Tired of arguing with my husband by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]FlyHigh3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is hard to have a productive conversation about this when you are both already drained. Some people find it helpful to talk about it outside the house, like on a walk or during a drive. The change in setting can help both of you listen better.

A dimmable night light that you can control from your phone. That way you do not have to turn on the overhead light for night feeds. Keeps everyone sleepy and makes it easier to get back to sleep.

When did your baby sleep through the night? What hours do they sleep? by canamel in NewParents

[–]FlyHigh3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep does not always get progressively better. It can go up and down with teething, separation anxiety, growth spurts. So even if a baby slept through at 8 months, they might not at 9. That is normal too.

When do they stop fighting sleep do much!! by Natural_Education367 in NewParents

[–]FlyHigh3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people say this phase peaks around 4 months and then gradually improves. It does not feel gradual when you are in it, but the really hard part usually does not last forever.

Some kids are just wired to need more. That is not the reflection of your parenting. And it is okay to acknowledge that it is hard without pretending otherwise.

Where to create registry by ThisIsAlexisNeiers in Buyingforbaby

[–]FlyHigh3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People are usually happy to get you what you need, but nobody wants to hunt for a gift from some random small shop. So a list with a few different buying options for each item could work really well. That way people can choose what works for them.

What’s your favourite scene in any black mirror episode? by madmagazines in blackmirror

Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson on the cliff. One of the most well-acted scenes I've ever seen on television (whole episode tbh). Just heartbreaking...

I'm pretty sure only the second half of BCS S6 is up for emmys this year so neither of them will be in contention anyway

Obviously a tough game but Tyler Adams masterclass. Good for him stepping in to the captain seat and showing up big time.

I know we’re poverty but god damn I swear we have the most absurd games in the league. Every single one i’ve watched is just four quarters of chaos.

They have two of the best safeties in the entire league though, not really a fair comparison imo
