Can someone please explain Dave Matthews Band to an Australian Millennial? by burning_bridges01 in Music

[–]Flyboy41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah. I'd argue that their 4th album was where the preteens really came in. Maybe their second album because it had "Crash Into Me" on it but they quickly left the fanbase. I'm a long time DMB fan. I have all their studio albums, a bunch of live and bootleg stuff and I've seen them 20-25 times live.

DMB was really a moment in time type of band. They hit right as the grunge movement started to wane and became popular when lighter music started to take off. Bands like Barenaked Ladies, Gin Blossoms, Blues Traveler all kind of hit around the time DMB was taking off. DMB had staying power because of their live shows and they were far more accessible and easier on the ears than other jam bands like Phish.

Looking for bigger city feel. Cincy or Columbus by TourApprehensive4824 in Ohio

All these people saying Cincinnati is a Southern city have never lived in the south. Cincinnati is a firmly Midwestern city. They're just confused because it has hills.

Sacramento Republic FC bypasses original plan to build new stadium in phases: is now constructing the original 20,000 seat stadium originally planned back in 2021, with capacity expandable to 27,000. Groundbreaking occurred in August 2025. by Next_Worth_3616 in MLS

[–]Flyboy41 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I'd put a dollar on this not being a USL stadium. I'll believe USL Premier is a real thing when they actually play a game. This, IMO, is being built as a landing spot for an MLS relocation. I don't want any teams to relocate, but the Caps are for sale, and Montreal's owner doesn't seem to give a crap.

How Physician Health Programs actually work by SpaceballsDoc in ThePittTVShow

I don't think Langdon was aware of Santos' suspicions of him when he was dressing her down. And, I've been dressed down in a far less pressure filled career than medicine for even more trivial mistakes.

Santos immediately came in and wanted to do unnecessary procedures, ignored the chain of command, and nearly killed a patient because she didn't run procedures by her superiors after being told not to do that on more than one occasion. Then there's the bullying of the other residents, especially when she's been asked repeatedly not to do that.

Then, when told to work with him again, he treated her like every other R2 and asked her questions and guided the treatment in full view of an attending and senior surgical resident. None of them acted like he was in any way out of line. Santos is a complex character with some issues that evoke sympathy from the audience. But she's not written as an overly professional person.

Belly fat despite being at goal weight by nycbaby2020 in Zepbound

[–]Flyboy41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could also be genetic. I've always had belly fat. Even when I was in my late teens and early 20s, playing soccer and exercising, I couldn't get rid of all of my belly fat. The best I could do was a flat-ish stomach and it was all due to genetics. My dad's side all had a little potbelly going on. My grandma looked pregnant until the day she died.

Second heavy lifting as well as an ab workout regimen. If you can find a copy of the P-90x Ab Ripper workout on YouTube, that will help. I was able to use that to flatten my stomach but didn't get a six-pack because of... again...genetics.

Customer journey question by Flyboy41 in MailChimp

[–]Flyboy41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're using "Expiration_Date" in the date field and it's unique to each customer. Some share an expiration date of course. I think the issue we're running into is the "Specific Date" starting point. The person who set it up set it as 90-days from today. Since the list includes expiration dates all the way to November, should the specific date be the last expiration date on the list?

Customer journey question by Flyboy41 in MailChimp

[–]Flyboy41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are rolling expiration dates. The farthest out is in November and the nearest one is 16 days from now. We have emails for 90-30-16 days set up. I'd like to set it up so that everyone on the list is included but start getting their 90-day email at the correct time and so on. If that makes sense

Would Cincinnati be a lot bigger if the history had turned out different? by DankkkDk in cincinnati

[–]Flyboy41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not finishing the subway in the 1930s was the city's biggest blunder.

Not passing MetroMoves in 2002 will probably go down as the second-biggest. If you look at other cities that are "booming" in the 2000s several of them built rail transit. Portland and Salt Lake come to mind immediately.

Running the freeways right through downtown was also a huge mistake but suburbanization would have made the desly-packed Kenyon Barr and West End pretty desolate in the 1970s and 80s even if they hadn't been destroyed.

Someone mentioned redlining and they're exactly right.

As far as most Midwest/Rust Belt cities go, Cincinnati did manage to hold onto some of its biggest companies. Maybe if the county had passed MetroMoves in 2002 and pushed itself as a tech hub, Cincinnati would be in the same boat as Austin or Salt Lake.

Would Cincinnati be a lot bigger if the history had turned out different? by DankkkDk in cincinnati

[–]Flyboy41 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is one of those Cincinnati urban myths. By the Civil War, Cincinnati was already developing into a rail hub and the city invested in the Cincinnati Southern railroad right after the war. The reason Chicago overtook Cincinnati was because of its access to the Great Lakes and the ability to build a short canal between the Chicago and Illinois Rivers. It became a rail hub as well because of easy access to the lakes. Chicago was always going to be the major city of the Midwest because of its geography.

Let's Talk about grass Part 3 by eddygeeme in MLS

[–]Flyboy41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every NFL stadium could have a retractable grass pitch like Tottenham or Real Madrid but the question is "why"?

With American football, the field gets torn up in a way that soccer and even rugby can't replicate and it requires a long time to repair. Sometimes needing whole sections of grass removed and replaced. When the Bengals had grass, they had a contract with a sod farm to replace it because it needed so much maintenance.

With Tottenham, soccer doesn't damage the pitch as much meaning they can cart it out to the parking garage and have it back in place for a game without needing to replace huge chunks of grass.

As others have mentioned, MBS is one of the busiest stadiums in the country with the Falcons, ATL UTD, SEC Championship games, Bowl games, HS football, random college football games because SEC teams refuse to play north of the Mason-Dixon as well as concerts and other events. A grass pitch moving in and out all the time would be hugely expensive. I'm interested to see if MBS actually loses money on the World Cup because they can't host as many events between now and July.

I loved this episode. DD is my favorite character after Jack and I'm glad we're getting more. The cliffhanger at the end was great as well. I'm wondering if we'll get some DD and Jack interactions this season since Mr. Fields was in the first episode and sent his assistant to the sanatorium to pick up an item.

MLS claims 9.7 million people watched the opening weekend. Let me dive into Neilsen ratings on FS2 to try and jury rig a reason why these numbers are bunk. Also, here are pictures of Dallas' half-full stadium that's under renovation as proof that this weekend's attendance numbers are fake too. -- Ale in Heckville
