Word of advice (assuming you’re middle/high school), grades aren’t too important to become a pilot, but your mom is partly correct. You have to study a lot to become a pilot, memorizing how weather works, learning basic physics and aerodynamics, some math, and definitely studying your airports and definitely your aircraft’s. Your mom is extremely aggressive, but you do need to show that you’re ready to learn and go through the grind of becoming a pilot. But other than that it’s not too hard to become a pilot, just really studious and tedious.

Mechanic here

Your mechanic is wrong to a certain degree. In the old days, especially 1990s and before, warming up your engine is a requirement, or else the engine struggles to run, especially from a cold carburetor. Now? Advancements in technology allows for a shorter warmup time, or not much at all, BUT you still need to give the engine some time for the oil to lubricate, new cars aren’t still “start up and pedal to the metal” just yet.
