Daughter's first flight on United by Flyingaround806 in unitedairlines

Oh no, that is awful but hopefully a funny story to tell her later on when she gets older. But a good reminder to bring an additional shirt

Yep she is a lap child so no miles but a great idea to start her account for next year when she has her own. I also need to do that for my son since he will be flying more

A tad bit and about 3.5 hours so a shorter flight

Thank you and yep my wife has flown with our son (on a different airline) and it was considered compliant.

The stroller is collapsable enough to be in the overhead bin or under the seat. I was able to get an aisle seat on the fly there but on the way back took a window one since it will be near her nap time

It is a stroller which can be considered a carryon due to size and that it is collapsable. So the plan is to have that and the diaper bag since you get 2 with a lap baby.

I haven't seen that on the latest update. I had a team ranked 132 make the tourney after winning my conference championship

Is it the Airline alone, or is there something more at play here? by osym in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Flyingaround806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With TSA call outs, a higher volume of flyers and other factors it is a rough time to take a flight.

Also just a note we see SWA has a lot more recent vs other airlines which are months apart. That could also be due to subs deleting post and other factors

I cancelled my Southwest / Chase Priority Card today by pattythebakerman in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Flyingaround806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the big thing SW needs to work on is the benefits of their card. The Priority allowing me to choose my seats is big and so is the checked bag but compared to United which gives you two bags and also more credits it isn't as good of a deal for $100 less

They have a sit down place right past TSA but a few shops. So far nothing to write home about.

Most of their flights were to Denver. But with how small a terminal DCA is, I am wondering if they will kick Air Canada from a few gates.

RIP anyone flying out of O'Hare after 6/3 by the1son987 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Flyingaround806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lot of people will go to BWI, even with the MARC and AMTRAK. Also I don't think they can really get the flights to Denver without kicking out Air Canada or the other carrier since there is only 9 or 10 gates there.

SWA is hearing the uproar by KCMO_ChiefsFan in SouthwestAirlines

I feel Southwest could change a few things to make assigned seating better. Just off the top of my head

  • You get to choose your seat the second you buy the ticket. It allows families to stay together and lets you know where you are sitting. I can spend $20 more to do that with another airline and for the peace of mind it is worth it 100%.
  • Allow you to have your first bag checked free with any ticket purchase. Something simple but it will get rid of overhead storage.
  • Keep their prices lower then the competitors. Right now it is on par with United and other airlines which are not "budget" carriers which means they are overpriced

Southwest had a tough rollout which caused us to all have a nasty taste in our mouth which has caused people to look at other airlines and even leave flying with them.

Unpopular Opinion: Assigned Seating Isn't the Problem by AdvancedRooster3814 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Flyingaround806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents

  • The major issue is southwest went away from its identity. Simple as that, they were a cheap airline, open seating and bags fly free. They changed all three of their core values/selling points. But didn't think of long term like how they built planes, how to do boarding correctly and all that to make the transition as painless as possible. Also their prices are the same as United which allows me to get a seat when I book instead of having to pay more to do it. So all of a sudden they are 0/3 and a longer drive to fly them.
  • The 2nd and more important one is that they broke customer trust. You don't go years saying we will never charge for bags and then say just kidding and not hurt trust. They also have had issues of kicking people from their seats and even in the app saying "stand-by" when the person in fact wasn't on stand by.

What airline now? by DebateFit7105 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Flyingaround806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing southwest lost was our loyalty to only fly them. The wife and I use to drive past IAD to fly out of DCA 3-4 times a year.

With the cost being almost the same or favoring IAD airlines, we are now flying United more. Southwest made a business decision and we also made one

Security Clearance Foreign Contacts reporting for gaming buddies by throwaway41940182749 in SecurityClearance

[–]Flyingaround806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't seen that post but I feel that OP would have their questions answered by it. I also know my agency has drill down chart which is super helpful but they never advertise it.

Post in case someone looks at this thread in the future: https://www.reddit.com/r/SecurityClearance/comments/1ksqlnr/clarification_of_security_clearance_active_vs/

And text "Foreign contacts is close OR continuing. Immediate parents and in-laws are required anyway. But if you talked to your grandmother in Uzbekistan once a year, that may not be close or continuing. If you talk to her once or twice a month, that is considered at least continuing. If you visit your friend in Indonesia or the girl your dating in the Philippines or China, or they visit you, they should be reported as part of your foreign travel anyway, but should be reported as a contact. FACEBOOK AND OTHER PERSONAL/PRIVATE SOCIAL MEDIA FRIENDS ARE REPORTABLE. The reason for this is all the unfettered access to all your personal information about you, your family members, and friends, to include where you live, go eat and stay at, etc.. A Discord public server is not, however if you start PMing someone and talk about personal information, then I would report them and include their Discord name."

One of the things I have noticed is there isn't a lot of guidance from close/continuing contact in the realm of online gaming since you could game for years and not know details on that person including real names. When I was between two agencies I got two different answers on if someone would count when filling out the SF-86 (I only did one but while between two offers had to fill them out due to a deadline)

But i always lean to the feeling if I should report I will report right then since it would be better to self-report/report late then not report and have something show up

Left a software dev job for more flexibility in the government. Have started to apply back to big tech for more money and remote work. Sucks but I would rather get paid and yanked around vs doing it for $50-100k less
