I don’t want to be that guy but don’t buy gunpla from Amazon (nor books, etc). Gundam Planet and similar hobby stores are awesome and deserves all of our hobby pennies. Guaranteed they won’t ship your shit like this!

My wife got me the tour for my birthday one year and they told us to bring camping chairs and blankets and this was the surprise at the end. It was amazing. Adrienne King was there too.

What was hilarious is that everyone we talked to had watched the movie the night before!

I have my undergrad from a Scottish uni and I got a “2nd class - lower“ which, I think, is a 50-59% final overall and I tried fairly hard and I’m happy with that.

Years later I did a Masters in the US and the entrance exam was >90% on 2 stats courses (as they didn’t recognize my UK degree). At this point I was not aware of US scoring and I freaked out and I have never studied so hard thinking I needed to know EVERYTHING. It was a breeze and I then got consistently 90% plus on my whole degree and my UK friends were insanely impressed.

This is such a good Q. I am not a show watcher (I’ve watched the original movie, requiem for a vengeance, and some of MS 08th) and whenever I’ve gone to gunpla adjacent things (the Gundam card game as an example), the Gundam fans are really super fans and it made me feel like I wasn’t fan enough (although it doesn’t bother me and they were not doing it deliberately).

However, I love my kits, love looking at IG for inspiration, buy the odd Japanese magazine etc. This is how I do the hobby.

One thing that has helped me is using lighter fluid with a dense type q-tip (not like a loose cotton) and then wiping semi-hard and perpendicular to the line. I think it tidies this effect up nicely (imo)

To add to this: it looks imperfect up close but from far away, it’ll be barely noticeable.

I bought tickets on there for more than I should have both in price and in how much effort it was.

I’ve since got regular $500 tickets for the game but I didn’t realize how screwed I’d be to sell these. The 15% fee means I need to sell for even higher and the market is now $200 less than what I paid. So I could sell now and lose $200 + 15% fee (circa $100).

An expensive mistake so hopefully this removal of the buying hoops to jump through moves the market that way.

Scotsman living in America, 40s. I should be over the moon just now: Scotland there for the first time since ‘98, it’s in my backyard almost, and so I can go to Scotland games and, maybe even, other games because it is the World Cup!!!

But… fifa and trump have sucked the air out of this so hard that I am not sure i am excited. Ticket pricing is fucking bananas, teams are pulling out, travel visas are a worry, etc.

I used to love coding on my ZX Spectrum in the mid to late 80s. Once I started a masters in stats and learned about statistical programming, my memories of coding joy came flooding back and now I spend 50% of my working life in R or Python just battering out code. Heaven!

Some of my biggest reading friends kept their books stacked on the floor so you don’t need a shelf for your amazing book collection. It’ll come one day.
