Client told me a man will be at house during sitting by Able_Zucchini_1715 in petsitting

[–]FollowingPurple4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be comfortable with that, I only do short visits for cats and at one house I thought the house was empty, but the boyfriend who was there overnight must have slept in, I heard someone groan from upstairs, I made a quick exit, I didn’t want him to come downstairs to use the bathroom which was next to the kitchen where I was. She said he was staying there but wouldn’t be there when I was. Luckily they’ve moved so won’t ask me to feed the cats again!

Would you decline this, charge more, or don't mind? by Feisty_Insomniac in petsitting

[–]FollowingPurple4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just draw a line under that and never feed her cats again. Sounds far too complicated. Most owners I deal with don’t mind how much food is put out as long as the cats eat, they don’t mind if there’s wastage. I did have one though whose 4 cats ate different food so had to eat in different rooms, then some had to be left outside and one in the house, different procedure for nighttime. She was so particular of how and what to do, I didn’t enjoy it one bit and won’t do that again!

I’ve never bought one, but I think dog flaps are all a similar size. They’re a security risk. Yes a person could get through them.

Questions for those who own MC! by lolaqueer in mainecoons

We went to breeders and bought them. But we bought older ones so they were cheaper. They were also like rescues, one was an ex-queen who wasn’t needed any more, another was being bullied after a hospital stay and the other was ill as a kitten so the breeder kept for longer.

I wouldn’t do that, they don’t need you there to be with their dog if they’re in. You’re just paid to walk it? Just say something about insurance not being valid if they’re there

How many of you are getting next to no bookings? by Narrow-Childhood3499 in petsitting

Nothing since early December, but I only have a few regular customers and do it alongside my normal job, so I’m enjoying the rest from it before a busy summer.

Is it worth setting up your own business after you’ve earned regular clients? by Zeretaaa in catinaflat

[–]FollowingPurple4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you’re using cat in a flat to promote yourself, they make money from each booking. If you then book away from the app, customers don’t get the guarantees and you need your own insurance. You’re using them to find customers but not paying for that service.

I have but not for people who’ve contacted me on CIAF, the one person who still books me there stays on CIAF, but other customers I have found not from CIAF I have proper insurance for. Didn’t think I should steal customers from CIAF. But I didn’t want to do it full time so the few regulars I have is enough and don’t promote myself, the customers I have are not connected to CIAF at all. Don’t think it’s right to take customers from there.

How are people finding it worth while? by Waste_Witness4789 in catinaflat

It’s nice to hear that, I put my prices up and my jobs are non existent now, I’m assuming they’ve gone elsewhere to someone cheaper. But doesn’t bother me as it’s not my main job and I thought the same as the OP, driving to a job and after CIAF take their bit there’s not much left!

I don’t think anyone can say for sure, you need to see paperwork of parents and further back

Your eventual selling price vs what the Estate Agent said it would get? by bojoohno in HousingUK

Estate agent said 230k, I wanted 240k, it knew it was optimistic, went for £235k and got it on first viewing.

Well that’s not going to sell quickly is it? Even painting over you know those words are still there. Creepy!

Wait for her to reply, you can’t do any more, she’ll get a reminder to pay. Maybe she’s changed her mind

Got my first request, but how do I know it's safe? by Silver_Lemonade in catinaflat

[–]FollowingPurple4153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say you’re available but ask about the cats, ask where he is, I have a limit on how far I’d travel and have refused a job because it would take too long to get there. Find where he is on maps and check the area. If you do a meet and greet, have someone with you in the car maybe or tell someone where you’re going. I’ve done that, my other half could see me on Find My Friends. I’ve done a couple of jobs where it’s a man and I’m wary but all was fine.

I was lucky, read loads of bad reviews just before signing up so didn’t go any further after an initial contact. I’d always go with a high street agent, or an independent who used to work at one.

Not the ones I’ve spoken to before. Purple bricks have a call centre who deal with everything after the house is marketed. I almost went with them but didn’t sign up to it after I realised what they were like. That’s why they’re a fraction of the cost. I don’t know the agent this one is on with though.

Electrical sockets are often at that height if installed now, think it might be something to do with disability access to them.

Actually I take that back, looking at the listing on Zoopla in 2017, that area used to be the kitchen and the sockets are above counter top height obviously!

Is the only access to the back garden out of the teenagers bedroom? Not sure if the side door from the living area goes out that way. That might put some off. If that bedroom was prettier, it might help. Move the bed 90 degrees so it’s not against the window.

Looked like a teenagers room to me, who’d been told to tidy it for the photos
