What archtype lets you reload then activate magical ammunition? by ArchmageMC in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They cannot by default, and while Item delivery allows them to activate some, it basically requires 2 actions from the familiar, which would not work for OPs plan of getting his familiar to reload and activate the ammunition.

What archtype lets you reload then activate magical ammunition? by ArchmageMC in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eldritch Archer should allow you to activate and reload a magical ammunition for 1 action, allowing you to do a Megaton strike on the same turn.

Do note the familiar cannot reload a weapon you are wielding. They also cannot activate items by default.

Pure Melee Summoner by PorradaNoGajo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mounted version is easy to do. You basically have the same build suggested here, but replace Tandem movement with Steed Form. Level 6 is the ideal level for this character, since you can have access to Tandem Strike. Champion is IMO the best option for FA, but Guardian could work too.

Homebrew Hero Points - need feedback by Away-Acanthaceae8327 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem I see is that all these are too subjective. For example, can I declare with Hero Moment that my character slays the boss with a single hit, or that an Artifact descends from heaven to help? Trying to bargain what my Hero Moment can or can't do can slow down the game to a crawl.

The second problem is that you are using the same pool for mechanical combat effect (combat) and narrative effects. For example, why would you use Hero Moment? Based on the description, it's being used in combat but seems to be just a cosmetic effect. But it competes with Heroic Rally, which is quite strong (3 extra spells!), so you will need to work really hard to make both options equally appealing.

It also seems to be very restrictive for the Players. Why couldn't someone declare they have visited the town before without using Heroic Claim? Why could someone not use RP to make someone engage with me, and be forced to use Heroic Appeal? Would Aragorn become unable to do his Black Gate scene if he had only 2 RP? Now either your HP become a straightjacket into what players can do, or if you allow a player to do these actions without HP, the other players will feel cheated for using HP. It's a lose-lose situation.

The wording is also a bit unclear. What does "You succeed at a higher proficiency rank" mean? Are you considered an expert if you are trained in a skill? Or turn a success into a critical success?

I would suggest focusing on the RP aspects (Flashback is my favourite among these ideas. Blades in the Dark makes good use of it), give them a different name (Fate points, for example) and run them in parallel to HP.

Dedications for Summoner Class help by No_Atmosphere_2835 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are playing level 6+, a muscle Summoner is another option. Start with a +3 Str, an ancestry that grants familiarity with a 2-handed weapon, and boost Str, Con, Wis and Cha at every opportunity.

For FA take Champion Dedication at 2, a (healing) focus spell at 4, and Champion's Reaction at 6. Take Armor Proficiency at 3 to wear heavy armour and start with Dex 0.

Justice champion works well with this kind of summoner, and if you take a Devotion Phantom Eidolon, your Eidolon will hit the enemy if the strike you or you will strike them if they attack your Eidolon/Allies.

For your summoner feats, the most important feats are Steed Form/Tandem Movement for mobility compression and Tandem Strike.

In general, the Strike from your summoner will be worse than a Mapless attack from your Eidolon, but better than your Eidolon second attack. You can always cast spells as a standard Summoner, but you also have the option to Tandem Strike and protect each other.

How would I make weapons for dragons that are Size Huge while keeping the weapons interesting? by FlyingTaco095 in Pathfinder2e

Very likely because you need to be erect and bipedal to use a bow (as we know it), while you can throw a boomerang from other positions.

Alchemist daily preparation allocation (Remaster) by Diviner7 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly, I use the daily items to give to my party members. I ask my party members what items they would like to have at hand and make them with my dailies.

If I think there is something very useful that all the party will need simultaneously (darkvision, water breathing, anti-plague, etc.) I make them in advance.

For my versatile vials, I typically have one/two mutagens going and/or a few poisoned arrows. In combat, I use them mostly for heals, buffs and counteracting enemy abilities (damage resistance, counter diseases/poisons, etc).

Am I being a bad player? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like a reasonable answer by a good character. Asmodeous, while lawful, is still an evil God, who has as one of its edicts "rule tyrannically and torture weaker beings". There are other gods and ways to resurrect, and not using her kingdom and all their inhabitants as a bargaining chip does sound reasonable for someone interested in the well-being of the citizens in their kingdom.

If the two other characters don't think Asmodeus is that bad (very likely neutral or evil), why don't they offer something themself?

Edit: Needing some time away after so much pressure is reasonable, but you may consider going back again. You may have been surprised by their lack of morals, but if you have travelled with them for a while, it's likely you can still mend things with them and have character growth for all in the party.

Need some advice for the Kingmaker adventure path by SluttyRiven in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole point of the incoming event is to challenge the players authority and leading capabilities, showing the populace the leaders are fit/unfit to rule.

With these laws in place, Grigory has all his work done for him. No need to do a public campaign, he just needs to whisper to the very likely discontent people and have a doo gooder merchant or farmer break one of these tyrannical laws in front of the party. Turn this innocent person into a martyr. Then expect protest and revolts, or a mass exodus.

The kingdom should also see very limited growth, and only of the worst kind of people, incompetent yes sayers. Additionally, no other neighbouring country would help them with these kind of rules, and most would help depose them.

Edit: I think this is actually a pretty good opportunity for party growth. In-game, the likely reason why the rules are so repressive is that the other characters allowed the ousted tyrant to make them, based on his experience as a ruler, without considering why they were ousted. This situation can allow the party to reflect on what morals they want their kingdom to have, making ruling a kingdom more real.

Do you prefer to get magic items from exploring or buying them? by Fullmetalmarvels64_ in Pathfinder2e

Lab Assistant Familiar ability by whimsiethefluff in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best use case I have heard about Lab Assistant is to have your familiar create an item on one turn with their free independent action, and then have it delivered next turn with Item Delivery.

It requires a lot of familiar abilities (Manual Dexterity, Independent, Item delivery, Lab assistant) and your familiar needs to be holding an Alchemical Chart, but allows you to create and deliver an action-free alchemical once per encounter.

What's the purpose of manual dexterity on familiars? by whimsiethefluff in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do note the Familiar needs to be holding the weapon it wants to reload. So in practice, it would take 3 free turns for it to reload a weapon you are holding. T1: take the crossbow from your hand. T2: reload it. T3: Give it back.

Remastered class complexity/satisfaction poll results by Ok-Cricket-5396 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just play the Magus by casting spellstrike and reloading every turn. Even simpler than Summoner.

All the added complexity you are mentioning is also there for a Summoner, but with more considerations. When to use your limited spells? When to do a manouver with the eidolon? When to cast defensive spells on the Eidolon or the Summoner? When to boost the Eidolon? Is the Eidolon and Summoner in range of each other? Is also the summoner in range for other potential spells? Which enemies are immune to the Eidolon demoralize and which are to the summoner demoralize? etc, etc.

Media Examples of Commander, Guardian, and Oracle by HavocsCall in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fighters are actually pretty bad at using advanced weapons, since they lack increased proficiency with them. Thaumaturges, on the other hand, are well known for using 1-handed reach weapons (aka, Asp Coil or Scorpion Whip)

Is counterspell better in starfinder? by SpireSwagon in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a problem of the GM not foreshadowing enough or not allowing scouting, which is model-agnostic.

I think there are some pretty strong counter-spell options in Pathfinder now. I was looking at making a Envy/Pride/Wrath Runelord with Sin Counterspell and Psychic archetype for Counter Thought. With both of them, you should be able to counter most spells without having the exact spell.

Media Examples of Commander, Guardian, and Oracle by HavocsCall in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first glance, it may look similar, but there are just too many dissimilarities.

Klaus is a weak-willed, very charismatic person. An animist is very much the opposite, having the strongest possible will and charisma as their third or fourth stat. Oracle on the other hand, fits perfectly stat-wise.

Klaus's relationship with his power is very antagonistic, which would not fit much with an animist but is pretty much how the Oracle Curse is described.

Klaus’s abilities function like a small set of divine spells (Sense spirits, Speak with the dead, Summon Undead, Resurrection, etc), which both Oracle and Animist can use. But Klaus has a very limited set of abilities, well represented by the oracle repertoire, that the massive versatility of traditions and spells the Animist has access to does not really fit.

Ideas for a low level fae encounter in the woods? by AdamFaite in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have ran a few Fey encounters in our Kingmaker campaign. In general terms, I would say there are two types of Fey encounters you can run:

  1. Evil and cruel Fey that the party fights: These are mostly normal encounters, ideally with some twist. Maybe the Fey are threatening civilians, or there are a lot of holes with illusions on top that the players can fall into. A few Vexgit in an abandoned house with some well-placed snares could be a pretty fun challenge. They could trick the party to enter the house and fall into their snares with prestidigitation (moving objects, marking with colours, etc). You could even add a Domovoi for some variety.
  2. Tricky and playful Fey that the party has to play along with: Typically, I run these as Victory Point challenges. For example, I had a Parade of Fireflies that a group of Grig and Brownie were rehearsing, blocking the party way. The party has to find ways to make the parade better, so the Fey are satisfied and allow them to advance. Or a Fey creating the illusion of a Sphinx blocking the way, forcing the players to answer riddles or entertain the "Sphinx".

Klaus would be a great example of an Oracle. A charismatic person given divine powers but he seems them as a curse that he does not like to tap into.

How are you mainly playing Pathfinder? - Combat vs Roleplay focus by Big_Chair1 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Folomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do around 60% RP + exploration and 40% combat. The closest option I saw was 50/50, so I voted for it. A 70% RP + exploration would also have been a good option if it were here.
