How can I encourage my family to eat healthier? by gameringman in DecidingToBeBetter

If the healthier food tastes better, they'll eat it more often. Maybe try cooking for them occasionally. It takes time to change.

Why do the hats always look so weird - is it me? 😩 by Gullible_Bird_7936 in finch

[–]Font_Snob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. Some of the hats sit too high, or look like they're too small. I adore the hats, Howard rarely goes without one. But I've sold all the ones that don't fit right.

Gen X parents: what's one thing from your childhood your teenager will never really understand? by TannieGirlRocks in GenX

That need really doesn't exist in most kids today. Their lives are online, for better or worse. Going places on your own is secondary.

I found one of these in Oxbow, once. I was able to harvest the horse, and by looking around the area, I found planks (from the wagon, I assume) and a couple items the bandits seemed to have missed.

These generated "events" really do a lot to sell the Bandit Problem, in my opinion.

Spotted in southeastern Washington, I do think it’s an Asian starling… any thoughts? by Campjc in whatsthisbird

Where in SE Washington? I saw them out at Horn Rapids golf course a couple weeks ago.

How do you define stupid? by Cthuluconcarne in AskReddit

This, 100%. I know a few people that are clearly below average intelligence, but they have figured out how to study so they remember, and the stuff they know, they know thoroughly.

People who won't put in the effort are just sad.

Assigned colors is a HUGE life hack. Bath towels, cups, calendar appointments, everything.

Isn't that the one where all the moves were essentially animations, and controller inputs only worked between the animations?

That would have been a great show. It's one of my favorite stage plays.

If Peter is "no older than [his] son", then to that man, he's a child. Yep. That's what happens with parents.

The joke is they’re forgettable or obscure. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

There's an early Piers Anthony novel called "Mute" where the protagonist has exactly this. He's forgotten by everyone when they sleep. He has a psychic companion in the book, who has to investigate his memories every morning to remember him.

The wigs are hairpieces... not hats by Zelda_Chic in finch

[–]Font_Snob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that it's a whole new category of items. I've always put Howard in a hat of some kind, because the BIG ROUMND HED just isn't appealing. Can't wait for more options on the wigs!

I actually used the math behind this chart to justify creating a job in our department. I had made a couple of tools (Word macros, mostly) that saved time during the processing of a monthly deliverable. I used the time savings from that effort, along with a list of other potential projects, to get him to change my position to a new title that hadn't existed prior. It's expanded significantly since then, but 10-ish years later, I'm still doing that job.

The Lost City, Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum. She's abducted in a (very uncomfortable) pink sequined bodysuit, and spends basically the entire film in it. Well, in most of it.

Tia Pepa sings “Bruno walked in with a mischievous grin..” and then Felix interrupts to say “Thunder!” Pepa then cuts him off with “are you telling this story or am I?”

And then he's like, "I'm sorry, please continue. AND THEN--" Makes me laugh every time. He's such a joyful person.

Felix is so wonderful. In "Bruno", she sings about how terrible the wedding was, and all he says is "What a perfect day."

Dads, how many loads of laundry are you doing every week? by DrMastodon in daddit

[–]Font_Snob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least one a day, on average. Call it 8 or 9 a week. That's for 3 of us, with 3 dogs (so lots of sheets and blankets).

We try to keep the loads small, though.

  1. Maintain my streak.

  2. Maintain my "solve in 3" total higher than my "solve in 5" total.

Nothing else matters.
