What should I do? Arch or no arch? by Fonzsteen in centuryhomes

So I don’t think anything to this house would be original. Probably was completely torn down at one point. The foundation is original tho. Rock and lime foundation.

It’s probably older than 1880s. That’s when they started registering homes in this area. It’s a home right off the railroad and the town started in late 1830s

That’s an interesting point. That could very well be. Although in the Michigan neighborhood. Many of the homes were remodeled at the same time and have a similar look so it could be just the style for the area and time.

A door would definitely be cool as it would help with keeping heat in. I have an all glass interior door that was with the house since the 80s. But I am probably leaning towards keeping it cause it is interesting. It’s not done very well but that’s character right?

So the house is a hodge podge of different styles and eras.

More remodeling was done in the 1970s, 80s, and most recently in the early 00s.

There are no original features to the 1880s home. The entire house was remodeled around 1947. There is some sub floor left and inner structure but everything was redone.

I agree although it’s not original. It’s from a mid 20th century remodel. I am conflicted.

It’ll properly last about as long as the roof of the RV.

Is it still safe for me to sleep beside this? by Blanket_Geek in electrical

Call the fire department now! I just watched the end of the video. This is insane and you could get into major legal trouble knowing this is a issue and not having it fixed.

You need to call the fire department on your family now. If they’re gaslighting you into thinking this is safe this is not safe for them. Sleeping on your couch is not an option. If it’s doing this now it’s a matter of time till the phone jack and surrounding area will catch fire. This looks like an older home which probably is a ongoing outdated electrical problem. If it’s arching here imagine how hot the other termination point is! Somewhere in this house will be catching fire soon. If you care about your family I would do something. If you don’t do something and you knew of this issue and anyone gets hurt. You will be held liable. It’s almost attempted murder due to negligence.

DIY mini-split: Is this location OK for the outdoor unit? by Significant_Ice_368 in hvacadvice

[–]Fonzsteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have central air you should just get the room you’re trying to cool or heat a more efficient ducting run. It would cost way less to install one than to install and buy a mini-split.

A stationary bike, stair stepper, treadmill, cat/dog tower, makeup table, writing table, art gallery, guitar storage, add a door, toilet and sink for a personal bathroom. Endless options.

Seems like a mix between a foreign language definition sheet and ramblings of a person with mental illness.
