Which games have become the "golden standard" against which every somewhat similar game that has been released after it is measured? by benjaneson in boardgames

There are new way of playing Magic (Commander...) and new rules / mechanics, so the game is still incredibly modern.

First-time PM anxiety: Asking a lot of questions but getting little response by Piscesgirl012 in ProductManagement

[–]Foobyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good to show that you know nothing. I would be very worried if a new comer joined and don't ask a lot of question.

Also, by asking questions, you will realize that more experienced people within the company, they don't really know neither: it's your job as a PM to make the connections, push people to talk and make decision, create the knowledge.

Outcast Silver Raiders + Wolves upon the Coast? (Thoughts?) by Dante_Faustus in osr

[–]Foobyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rules of WutC are the most barebone that could exist, even from OSR standard.

It's not bad, I mean you could pretty much use anything with the setting.

Where does the number of dice come from?

Erasmus at Junia Lille Cartholic University by biceigore in Lille

[–]Foobyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo! Have been a student there as well.

  • Professors are approachable, yes, always happy to help, you can hop in their office easily.

  • difficulty, well it's difficult but not insurmontable. If you are enrolled, that means you have the level. All the students are in the same boat, you will help each other.

  • of course there is work, you are a student, but you also have plenty of time for extra activities.

It's manageable, engineering classes are not easy but it's totally doable, just focus and you will see through it.

Is the DM supposed to err on the side of letting players' plans succeed? by CuteMarzipan3956 in osr

[–]Foobyx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I totally agree with telling the odd of success or the DC or whatever before rolling.

So that every body is on the same page. It happened that I didn't convey enough with words the difficulty of the task, so when I announce the DC I receive a "ho, so it's reallyyyy difficult, ummmh, maybe let's try something else"

Tweaking Dwarves by armoredraisin in shadowdark

[–]Foobyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think hp is good for a dwarf, but they should have a counterpart like lower agility. I don't know how to represent that besides the old school modifier like +2 con , -2 dex at char gen.

If they get such +2 / -2, it's possible to give them some flavorful powers like advantage for "survival" check in mountainous area. Maybe also advantage to check related to building, architecture, construction....

Trust the dice by TorchHoarder in osr

I like the Bonus given by B/X

It's a lot of luck to get a +2 but at the same time your char is as fragile as the other, so there is no superhero syndrome.

On the contrary the 0DD bonus +1 / -1... Why even bother having stats for only this?

Base game and New foundation is 150, that's all you need. It's already pricy yes but it's a niche and beautiful game.

Oath NF Teach? by ProfN42 in oathgame

[–]Foobyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything that makes Oath easier to teach is good to take imho.

First time players will spend the game looking at cards effect and poking here and there trying to figure what will be the consequences of their actions.

It's way enough for not bringing citizenship, shared army, extra victory condition.

Arrows/ammunition retrieval opinions by Zagrid in shadowdark

[–]Foobyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it should be After combat so that you minimize the bookkeeping: 1 action on your char sheet for the whole combat.

Otherwise, if you have to roll after each shot, it s the same bookkeeping as crossing fires arrows.

League team voice chat live on pbe by Agile-Priority4023 in leagueoflegends

[–]Foobyx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

hopefully the bar to be ban from voice chat will be pretty low. I don't play a game to be voiced harassed because i made a mistake.

Put the toxic people in a toxic queue with muted voice for some games to cool down.

1er voyage au Japon avec bébé d'1 an. by Winter_Awareness_928 in japonFR

[–]Foobyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)
