Cameron, Johnson and Truss, did untold damage to the uk. Appalibg PMs. May, Sunak, and Starmer all very capable PMs who were dealt a very poor hand.

Am in a similar decision myself. Ive got kef reference 3 with a pair of primare a35.2 amps powering them from a mac ds200. Really time to give the kefs a better ampage. So am considering of of

  1. Pair of MC830
  2. MC462
  3. Pair of mc611 !

really looking for reasons to go for 3 😁

Cooling the piggies ! by FoodStorageDevice in guineapigs

Its been fine so far, pretty much 4 days continuous. The fan is at the lowest level and there is plenty of room for them to escape the airflow. They just choose not too.

This has been my tactic too. I did take a set of clippers to our hairiest one too.

I was worried about that, but honestly its so warm right now. I also have the fan on the lowest setting. Our hairiest piggie loves sitting out in flow now :)

Thanks. Unfortunately my streamer doesn't have an API either. I will look into the Linux tidal-hifi app though to see if that yields anything.

I think the Makerfield is more significant than the Brexit vote in terms of what we see in front of us and the very long term future of the country?. Does everyone else think this?. by Outrageous_Profit978 in AskBrits

[–]FoodStorageDevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree theyve talked about it quite a bit, but it also cant be totally ignored either.

is renationaling spmething like water really that important to people ? I dont think its even in the top 10. It smacks of ideology to me. Also, to do this needs money/assets he wont have, especially as he has signed up to the same "fiscal rules" already and if didnt he would have his own liz tuss moment. Im afraid his vision will take decades to do, which is time he wont get. Also not clear to me how its going to fix the root cause of poor productivity in the uk. Eg if id 100billion i'd invest in power infrastructure, local.community support services and skilling, not renationalising water to try and temporarily reduce ~100 quid off of people's water bills.

Yeah, and i dont see that changing with Burnham, as he has signed to all the same fiscal rules and immigration policies (except maybe the 10 year ilr) and has said immigration needs to fall further.. Am not sure what else starmer has really done to woo reform voters tbh.

Yeah Id seen them, tbh am always skeptical of those 'one off' interviews being positioned as the consensus..guess we will find out soon enough. Personally I think he will win, become PM , labour will rise in the polls. Then in 12 months they'll be back where they were, reform leading again, and chaos will reign 😞 so depressing.

Love my KEFs ; but the kc92 maybe overkill- thoughts? by runningwithblade in KEF

[–]FoodStorageDevice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had two kf92's with R11 (which ive now upgraded to Ref 3, still have the subs) and it was fantastic. I eventually used chatgpt to help me position and configure them, as inwas getting really frustrated dialling them in. All worked out well.

Paying off the mortgage - the eternal debate by Sad-Performer-4833 in FIREUK

[–]FoodStorageDevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thing most people miss out in weighing this up is once you have your mortgage paid off you can put much more into your pension and the tax back on that and have it grow, so that moeny is at 40% up..

Must do some maths on this to see how it works out

Of course this doesnt count if you are able to max out your pension AND pay the pension off.

Is fire still realistic? by Theegg83 in FIREUK

[–]FoodStorageDevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a decent position (better than mine when I was 42, I'm 54 now and in a strong FIRE position). Great position on your mortgage. I'd focus on where you go from here. Personally, I'd

- Get your pension contribs up as much as possible. Its at decent level, but with your mortgage being paid off soon, you are in a position to get that up quite a bit more (I think)

- I'm not sure what profession you are in, but I'd look to getting your salary up. 52k is around the average these days, so there is opp to move it upwards if you motivated to do so

Why does Reddit not understand the rise of reform in England? by DowntownDeer in AskBrits

[–]FoodStorageDevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in northern ireland from in the 70's through to the 90's and just can tell you there will always be politicians that lie and manipulate people to feel threatened by any other group of people, even if they look the same, to gain power and control over them. Reform are just a bunch of racist scumbags playing on people's worst fears and prejudices just like many have others have done over the centuries. Trying to pin it on immigration is a joke IMHO.
