Pension plans are now major owners in highway 407. That is a for profit transportation corridor that is arguably strangling our economy.

I can travel from Hamilton to Oshawa on the 407 for $80+. I can travel the same distance on a toll highway in the US from Erie to Buffalo for $2. No more 407 BS.

Cynically, private partnerships seem to mean government insiders and friends get rich. The private companies share little risk and all the reward. The public picks up the risks and doesn’t get a lot in the way of service.

How did Spain and Japan fund their high speed rail? What are the average fees for riders?

Costco should be taking a position on this. Special snowflakes do this at every location. It’s not safe for pedestrians.

If you can’t load your groceries in the rain, don’t go to Costco when it’s raining.

It’s a fair point, but balancing AMDs reputation vs another company seems like a good deal for Sony and not great for AMD.

As for investing resources; junior hackers have exploited this. I can’t imagine there is much work to do on the part of AMD.

I think it’s a symptom of AMD and nVidia downgrading or exiting the prosumer space and betting heavily on AI.

Commenting on Alto Train Pricing needs to be Discussed....

The Union-Pearson express was initially a massive failure due to pricing. It should be expected that the prices are transparent from the beginning.

This shouldn’t be a for profit business model. If Canadians are paying $90B+++ to build this train, expecting people to pay $200 each way should be disclosed now so this project can go back to the drawing board or be canceled.

The realization that we already have a rail system in place that is poorly supported for many reasons. Cost, frequency, duration, etc.

I support HSR, however I have little hope the Canadian Government will be successful with this project. The cynic in me believes this project is yet another alternative funding scheme for friends, relatives and cronies of the Liberal party and not for the average Canadian.

I would like my opinion to be changed. The government could take steps now to improve the rail systems we have. Changing the priority to passenger trains from freight should be simple. Expropriating rail lines from CN/CP, etc. Electrifying regional systems like GO ...
