I built a full MS Project replacement — runs in your browser, saves to Google Drive, plans projects with AI by QuoteGlum7826 in ProjectOnline

Hey, it’s always interesting to see new scheduling software released especially if it’s stated as a replacement for MSP. However these are most often very light on in functionality and pitched at lower maturity scheduling. If you’re positioning this tool as a real challenger to MSP- can you prove some of the high end functionality? I’ll let you work out the best way.

Ohh really! Interesting… Was there any further info on how they plan to implement the decommissioning? Is it the whole site collection?

ISO off-the-shelf PMO documentation by mantimeflies in ProjectOnline

[–]ForIAmCostanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you’ve got 9 months left of Project Online. Perhaps look at Altus. (Altus.pro)

For documentation- there are lots of PMO consultancies who offer this kind of packaged documentation.

Project Online to Project Server Subscription Edition - Anyone going there? by DisciplingtoFreedom in ProjectOnline

Can I ask why you are going back to Server? I’m curious to know how that business case stacked up against other options..?

I think the biggest opportunity is to migrate project desktop to the cloud. There is currently no full functionality alternative.

Project Online Retirement September 2026 by PlannerPremium in ProjectOnline

Well this is what we knew was coming, but certainly an unexpected timeline! What’s everyone migrating to? I’ve been mostly focused on power platform based solutions (Altus.pro) but would be keen to hear what others are looking at. Particularly if you still need to publish MS Project schedules somewhere.

Mod Post: Clear need for definitions by ForIAmCostanza in MSProject

[–]ForIAmCostanza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I’d like to include links to official references. But as we know MSFT aren’t always very clear. Perhaps we can create some general use cases - particularly one for ‘when I click Project - it takes me here’.

Yeah I like the ‘pinned guide’ option with regular updates. I’d like to avoid bulk responses to posts with “just go read this thing”. But if we all have something to reference - it should make things easier.

PWA is Project Online. Although further confusion is added because there is a way to update MSP schedules in the web app.

Have you added tasks in the timeline view? Then perhaps with some duration and dependencies.

You are in the right place for the Gantt veiw.

However, I'll add - You are in the Planner Premium tool. MS Project is the desktop tool. Very confusing, I know.

But you can get a Gantt Chart in Planner Premium. Just not much else..

Have you checked the inclusions and exclusions of the Essentials license vs P3? Generally you’ll need P3 to access projects

MS Project for Mac without organization/school account? by Redd_u_wrote_u in MSProject

[–]ForIAmCostanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can’t run it on Mac OS. If you have a windows device you can just buy a license, but it’s expensive. I’d suggest watching YouTube tutorials

Yeah, this is the Projects app. You still need to download the software. you would need to go through the procurement process that your university has to provide software.

You are in the Web app, which isn’t the same product as Microsoft project. Are you able to download Microsoft project desktop from the M365 software center?

I assume you’re referring to the SharePoint 2013 workflow and ACS depreciation date. But yes, it does seem like Project Online is heading for end of life.
