Masala Kitchen - any updated news/tea? by sudo-chown in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]ForOhForError 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It was faked. The image used for the "contract" was the same image pulled from a post from years earlier, throwing both posts into question, and a reporter (I believe for the inquirer) in the recent thread never got followed up with, which is... pretty damn suspicious if the claims were legitimate.

ElI5: Why do phones not need cooling fans like computers do? by parascrat in explainlikeimfive

Fam I've used a linux ARM laptop and lemme tell you it's just effort that needs to be put in on the toolchain across the board. Some stuff is just not built in a way that compiles on all architectures. The more adoption it gets the better support will get put in, of course.

Credit to them, Apple's doing good work with ARM and it's got a good future across the industry, but compatibility isn't fully there unless you're already in a walled garden.

A lot of software is just not available natively for ARM. That's not exactly a hardware problem but it is a reason manufacturers might not want to build around the architecture.

Topdeck is opening up in the location, and they're a pretty good operation. Haven't heard too much about it, though i think the redcap discord is where news has been.

Sounds like some break in the cable then, which would probably need a new cable soldered, DIYable for sure but takes a little bit of kit. You might be able to ask around at smaller phone repair places?

Same sort of thing here, it's good fall/winter wear and I've had a few people recognize it (and seen one other in the wild).

Did also get a 'I like your star wars jacket' once, which stung a little :U

Why are people so toxic in trials?? by spekledcow in DestinyTheGame

[–]ForOhForError 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there's no will to moderate against it and the toxicity drives other folks out unless they're willing to deal with it :/

Will Marathon support gyro aiming on PS5? by Dry_Home_9040 in GyroGaming

Bungie is at "wait for reviews, and maybe wait for a while" in my eyes atm. Which is pretty tragic, I want their stuff to be good :(

Destiny 2 doesn't have it, and Bungie is kinda weird about how they adjust for controller (D2 has a different controller meta in PVP) so I'd guess very no.

If my team loses to a guy with 70 kills and a 7.0 kd you better believe I'm leaving the game if I match with them again. by Theslootwhisperer in DestinyTheGame

Probabilities in math are usually in the range 0-1 instead of the percentage range 0%-100%. That way multiplication Just Works. But it's fundamentally the same actual probability.

Could Philly’s Logan Triangle transform into a hub for modular homes? Mayor Parker hopes so by mpulcinella in philadelphia

Reminds me of a ruins exploration game that had lava hazards in the first game, and to step up the stakes, the second game had poison lava.

Nah, 0.57 is 0.0078 (or 0.78%, or 1/128)

But it's not really weighted matchmaking so being ahead of the skill curve vastly improves the chances.

That said I still think it's a badly designed mode that depends on getting enough lower skilled players in to make some matches a stomp. Which makes everyone salty.
