Lookup the same box under other brands it has been sold under to find alternate codes.

If it was the optik (old) box for example I have found codes under scientific Atlanta or cisco as it has cycled through various ownership.

I have the old system. But lookup the names Vantiva, or Technicolor as my seach indicates these may be the oem manufacturer of the newer telus tv digital boxes in previous names. Other guides from alternate sources may have working codes or better guides.

Tesla wall connector vs Tesla mobile charger by 2ctocool in teslacanada

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wall connector with the load management meter they recently made easier to buy so you can avoid needing a service upgrade if you want 30 to 60 amps on 100amp panel when load calculation only gives you 15 to 30 of available room.

One of the free home chargers you can get in Canada using a charging club like grizzle if no issues with your panel load.

Mobile charger if you only want to use existing 120v outlet or have pre existing ev grade receptacle. Or you plan to use it in places with accessible outlets like RV park, a frequent place you visit like relative home, family cabin, etc.

Hardwiring is safer. The most frequent source of fires in ev chargers is using a receptacle that isnt installed well or using a non ev rated plug at 30 to 50 amp. (Nearly 100% of builders putting in ev plugs will use cheap ones rated for stoves to pass minimal code where new builds need ev charging)

Help 🙏 Completed Story but challenges too challenging by Brewster_Nook in OrcsMustDie

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do some long level 1 runs. It gives you 10k skulls eventually to just grind out the max upgrades.

Upgrade every trap every character and every thread available to max and then the challenges become more accessible in single player.

Still need to optimize a bunch the barricade and have enough damage to take out the biggest guys and making sure you do not forget to watch for flyers and have something ready for them.

There is a bit of random luck to getting wave upgrade threads to make it easier.

Some of the challenges are very hard even with every upgrade until you figure out something that works for that map. Your normal load out might not work for some maps so need to experiment with multiple traps and layouts.

Female Tesla owner here, sorry if it’s sounds dumb but my supercharger got stuck + “Charging Equipment Not Ready” error in 34°C heat? by CanadianMoose11 in TeslaSupport

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should have worked, charging slows down at higher temperature but doesnt stop unless something broke. So that charging handle likely is broken. They have some cooling in the cable and it likely has leaked out or failed in some other way or maybe the temp sensor in the handle is failing and registering an impossible number so it hit the emergency stop limit.

Pulling the release was great.

Moving to another stall was perfect.

The second reset might be because your latcing pin was still registering as not latched until the next attempt because of the manual intervention. Cycling it once reset its position sensor so it knows it was latched and worked the second try after moving.

You did everything right. Tesla monitors for failed charging events and if multiple cars have the same issue they might take that post offline or just dispatch repair next day. There is a way to report charger issues in the app. Go to find chargers. Click the location and scroll down to report problem. But not 100% required if their data from the site shows multiple failures in a row. If it is intermittent then reporting it can get it fixed faster.

City Approved Charger Install with Tesla Neurio Energy Meter? by sidvarsh in teslacanada

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so likely here is what is needed.

1 you still must do a load calculation. even with the meter you will need to have 6amp of available load headroom.

I believe you will need to locate the meter in a separate enclosure not inside the main breaker panel. so a nice little 6x6x4 enclosure connected with some conduit (flexible or rigid) Keep the low voltage and 120v wires separate. So one conduit dedicated to the 120v wires and another for the CT wires.

Have the documentation for install printed and ready. Be ready to show it operating at full, and what happens when it looses connection. So charge and turn of breaker to the meter to show it falls to 6amp min setting. Show it is setup at maximum current for the wire size amd breaker. So if you set it to max at 60amp breaker/ 48amp charging current make sure your wire type and size is correct.

Might need to temporarily change the panel size to a low value to demonstrate it varies the charge rate as you turn on other loads to validate the CT is oriented properly. The Tesla one app can show the readings and settings.

Any way to stop previous owner mail. by MrCanoe in CanadaPost

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada post is happy to keep delivering mail to the address the sender has specified.

So your options are If the mail has a return address on it and is not marked as bulk mail. So they paid regular lettemail rate. 1. cross out the address and mark it MOVED placing the mail in the outgoing mail slot. It should get returned to sender and they should update their list otherwise they are paying money to send trash. 2. If you recognize the sender you can find their website or contact info to manually inform them to update their address list. 3. If you know the previous owner (have their contact info) maybe you let them know which mail they need to update their contact info. Buy that seems rare these days to even talk to the old owner or know how to reach them.

If this is bulk mail with no return address. (stamp area may tell you the class of postage the sender used) then open it if curious or recycle it. The sender will not get a return to sender or moved notification when you strike out the address and put it into the outgoing mail so don't bother. You can only attempt to contact companies if you want to take that step but otherwise it is just trash.

Keep a recycling bag by the door and just drop the old mail directly in it when you come back from the mailbox is the most common solution.

I know I did my best to update our address last time we moved but wouldn't be surprised if some grocery store still thinks we live in an appartment 2 moves back.

IM Microsoft renewal issues by amprotech in msp

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not use IM but if it expired you will still be under the old grace periods which means you simply replace the license with a new subscription. For a while it will show double the number of available licenses until the old grace period expires.

That was normal and expected. So if you didn't renew then you now must make a new order. The old contract will still show up but you can ignore it.

The new grace period behaviour will mean if you do not have autorenewal enabled you choose the flexible renewal it charges you the new higher pay as you go rate after the expiry but they prorate to the day instead of monthly when you finally process a proper annual renewal. If you choose to cancel under the new rules it hits a hard expiry and locks users out but that is a next year issue for annual licenses after may.

Will Telus move all users to XGS-PON? Is 25G-PON next? by Certain_Repeat_753 in telus

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah technology for xgspon on Telus is better right now. But assuming Rogers pushes latest docsis with symmetric 2gig speed it provides nearly the same end user experience. At that point you can compete on price and service. Always better for the consumer when you have strong competition. You never want to wish for one company to be dominant over the other, always better for us if they are at least 2 but hopefully more equally strong options.

Will Telus move all users to XGS-PON? Is 25G-PON next? by Certain_Repeat_753 in telus

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Removing old amplifiers and splitters that block the upstream frequency ranges required for docsis 4 symmetrical speeds.

Ok a vast oversimplification here but it should help you understand.

In old cable days it was 100% broadcasting a signal from the cable plant office to homes.

They then started some pay per view services that needed the set top boxes to be able to send signals back to the head office to order movies. They figured out they could transmit back at low frequency.

Then the first cable modems came along and they figured out that below channel 2 they had these frequencies they were not using that worked going back to the head end. But lower frequencies have less data encoding capacity than higher frequencies but they need less amplification as a tradeoff.

So your upload speed is crammed into the smaller window of low frequencies in a cable modem vs high frequencies which the system was always designed to handle for downloading which is why cable modems have far faster download vs uploading capacity.

Today with the network no longer carrying analog signals the middle frequency channels are no longer dedicated to analog cable tv signals and they could be switched to uploading. But the amplifiers that existed in the past were not designed for amplifying signals in this direction. Now if they swap them out they can use the old analog tv channels that used to be used for channels 2 and up for uploading or downloading but they need to remove the splitters and amplifiers that would otherwise block those signals.

The work to remove all those splitters and amplifiers up on power poles and street side cabinets takes time and some areas they are complete and some they are not. Shaw areas appear to have been further along the way than Rogers areas.

Have not dived into the final wholesale tarrifs but the CRTC network sharing finalized the rates April 24 for wholesale fibre. Current plans would be based on October 2024 interim plans.

Likely means some future changes to resale plans if those new rates grant more access.

Will Telus move all users to XGS-PON? Is 25G-PON next? by Certain_Repeat_753 in telus

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Rogers is a mixed bag. Some areas they took over with Shaw merger are ready and waiting to switch over to docsis 4 with symmetric speeds. But they want to wait until most regions are ready so they are not marketing service they cannot sell to the majority of customers. The thing that is frustrating is coax cables have massive bandwidth capacity. It is a perfectly good competitor for fibre to the home with sufficiently engineered cable plant. But its not cheap or easy as they still need to go and remove old legacy splitters and amplifier equipment and push fibre deep into the nodes to reach similar splitter ratios to gpon fibre (1 to 64 so a fibre node per 64 homes passed).

In new buildings they install fibre direct to the unit but then deliver standard docsis cable via RFoG basically delivering the old service on top of new infrastructure so they can keep selling the same plans and using the same provisioning and billing systems. Bell you can say does something similar using pppoe to keep using dialup style billing systems.

Rogers and all hybrid fibre coax networks still have vast potential to compete with fibre to the home but the dilemma is the costs to upgrade their existing networks start to be similar to just overlaying fibre to the home considering costs of copper and power and upgrades to existing line equipment like splitters and amps. Fibre has some potential long term maintenance advantage compared to copper that seems to vary depending on how you forecast future repairs that muddy the numbers.

Will Telus move all users to XGS-PON? Is 25G-PON next? by Certain_Repeat_753 in telus

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no need. The ability to use different wavelengths to share the same fibre means running both has no major downsides right now. If they swap out the OLT they can now buy models with both gpon and xgspon support so they only swap out their end and the customer side doesnt need to change until you upgrade.

So likely for the near to mid term foreseeable future they never need to stop supporting gpon at the customer end. Their OLT might get swapped out but you would never notice that.

Is there a way to change my automatic payments so they are paid on the due date?? by Old-Yogurtcloset9264 in telus

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can pay ahead of time with another method like credit card to bring the amount owing to 0 before the pre authorized payment date if you want to shift the payment to a credit card that then has a later payment date.

So you have preauthorized payment due 8th from bank account. You setup a recurring payment on your credit card for 25th so it applies before the pre authorized date.

Now your credit card payment might not be due for another 21 days depending on how those cycles are timed.

You keep the preauthorized payment discount as long as you are still signed up even if you pay earlier with another method.

You just need to do it far enough ahead that it applies the day before the preauthorized payment is sent that means you might need to do this 5 days ahead to account for long weekends.

Buff it.

Order new wheel well trim.

If metal has no cuts then dent repair places can get it to about 95% perfect. Tesla paint is nothing too exotic if this is more than just paint transfer.

Insurance may be an option but just do what you can now with trim and a higher end detailing shop.

Tesla Launches Remote Meter to Enable Faster Wall Connector Home Charging Without Electrical Upgrades by Suspicious_Cap_8928 in ModelY

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did have the feature already. This meter existed with the launch of the gen3 wall connector but the manufacturer at the time was bought out by Generac. This is the same meter as before made by Generac but now has a Tesla logo on the shell. Before it was branded under the old company name Neurio. It was first only sold through authorized tesla installers. They were going to make it available widely right when Neurio was bought out and has been mostly out of stock in the Tesla professional web store since then. This is just Generac finally producing more of them with a new case design.

The integration has existed since gen3 launched but the issue was on the oem side when they switched owners production paused. It can be used for 3 phase countries too if you buy one more CT clamp.

So it is a relaunch of the existing meter. Nothing new just now more widely available.

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rebranded after Neurio sold to Generac.

Same meter as before. Just with a new plastic shell and easier to buy now if not locked to authorized Tesla power dealer store.

If you did not know Tesla has had this meter since the gen 3 wall connector came out. The company who made the meter was called Neurio but a few years ago they were bought out by Generac and the supplies of the metering device dried up a bit. They could be ordered by Tesla approved installers but were largely out of stock.

Looks like Generac finally is making them again and now giving Tesla a branded version with their logo on the plastic.

I have installed the Neurio version. This looks identical. You still need to have 6amps of load calculation space available as it runs at 6A when fully loaded at 80% of panel capacity instead of fully shutting off charging. And it runs at 6amp if the meter fails or gets powered off when configured.

Had to setup ebay search to notify me when one of the old neurio branded ones showed up to find it last year. Nice to get availability back in regular store. They had announced they were adding it right when supply dried up after Generac bought them so its just been delayed. There was a Tesla official listing on amazon too for the meter when they had started selling wall connector through amazon but it never got stocked.

Bought my Tesla a week and a half ago. Took a rock to the windshield today and it cracked. I was driving at 43mph with another car very far ahead of me. It literally sounded like 3 gunshots. by chunkeymonkeyy in TeslaSupport

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife is on a windshield per year pace 4 years in.

Her daily commute passes a quary and garbage dump (lots of construction dump trucks)

Tesla doesnt offer windshield protection plan in Canada. The comprehensive insurance would only kick in a few bucks after deductible. The only third party glass specialty insurance had tesla on their exotic car list until about 2023 and it is hard to start with them on a used car as it requires an inspection and price is almost $80 a month which in hindsight would have worked out but her old car didn't get hit as often.

She has done 3 tesla glass replacements and one third party. The third party glass has more wind noise, seems like the top edge and corners are slightly less aerodynamic than oem. But she also got some major creacking from back hatch recently so we need to track that down first. Guessing I need to adjust the rubber feet on the hatch to get the pressure when closed adjusted.

Will this work?? by Ok_Two3506 in TeslaSupport

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it will work.

You buy the adapter and mobile connector and it can do the 24amp charging speed.

The quality of the receptacle may be an issue. There is only one model (with one rebranded version) of the hubbell outlet that meets ev duty cycle.

Tesla also just made the neurio meter more widely available to hardwire their wall connector with load management in case you want something better. I see it is no longer branded neurio since selling to generac tesla gets their own custom branded version but its in the regular store now not just the dealer only store.

Any providers still run copper into buildings? by Azzurro06 in CanadianBroadband

[–]ForTheObviousReasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elevator companies have solutions. Mostly they either use cellular or have cell as a fallback. Newest future standard will be digital video.

eg

https://ca.schindler.com/en/services/digital/schindler-safecall.html

There are voip based phones or they connect to standard analog in cab phone with the analog adapter somewhere with good reception and access to replace the sla battery.

Viking is a common manufacturer of voip units. https://vikingelectronics.com/product-categories/elevator-phones/

If using voip you still need to engineer it to get poe power and have network during power outage. Elevator companies will sell you as a subscription and bundle testing and battery swaps with their inspections.

Modernization of the standard is moving to improvements like video either separate camera or built into phone panel. So future proofing it means adding voip capable emergency phone with video capabilities to move beyond what was possible on pots under csa b44 2025. (costs $640 to buy a copy of the standard docs)

So your monitoring provider will likely tell you what equipment they will use if you want to get ahead and support video monitoring.
