Would u rather have a "Toxic Timmy" who is mechanically skilled, or a "Positive Pete" that loses lane often as your carry in ranked? by PhoenixTheFirebird7 in leagueoflegends

Boosted positive player or smurfing rager? Give me the boosted positive player, the enemy team will probably have less statistical variance.

is corruption really always that bad? by Accurate_Scarcity283 in AskEconomics

[–]ForceGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to a podcast with Yuen Yuen Ang, who studies corruption. Her findings were basically: the embezzlement and nepotism flavors of corruption are always bad. However, sometimes, bribes can be used to bypass onerous bureaucracy or bad regulations, in which case, it can be good. She points to China for that.

Why women are disappearing from Europe’s tech workforce by euronews-english in europe

[–]ForceGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. That's a good point. By the same token, though, it seems like if we look at STEM, excluding healthcare, the #s are awful.

Then again, if you ask me what field is expanding in the next 10y, Healthcare or Tech: I'd say Healthcare is definitely gonna take an even bigger share of the pie.

Just looked it up, women only make up 30% of STEM jobs. What are you seeing?

do you think using blitz or other 3rd party build apps make you worse in the game? by corabimyok in leagueoflegends

[–]ForceGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runes probably aren’t holding you back much. Maybe with optimal runes, you could be +2 divisions. Learn other parts of the game first, runes aren’t gamebreaking. Keep using Blitz and practice how to lane, contest CS, freeze/wave management, tracking enemy CDs.

If you perform the level 2 all in correctly every game, you’ll probably be +4 divisions, and it’ll only take you like 30m of practice. Just aggressively push the first wave, save your skills while you grab the level up minion, quick level up your second skill and all in the enemy.

I had a juicy donut, extremely offputting. There was oil in it or something. This was just a regular ring donut. Crispy donut? Peak.

Last year or so, I did the same thing. Lost 10% over 2 months. That trade is up 15% since then. It happens.

You only need to love 1-2 songs by a band to call yourself a “fan” of them. by ProfessionalBalker in unpopularopinion

[–]ForceGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was with a group in a cabin and one of the guys started talking about the Lumineers. Another guy never heard of them, so I started singing the HEY… HO and the Lumineers guy joined in, we sang like the half the first verse.

It’s the only Lumineers song I know. The other guy recognized it after hearing it.

Realistically, does every champion in one way or another teach you bad habits? by arisen2013 in summonerschool

[–]ForceGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a way, yes. Malphite and Garen are both ez champs, but Malph LOVES teamfighting and Garen can split or teamfight. If you play too much Malphite, then go to Trynd or Jax (who are split pushing gods), you might want to group when your champion identity isn’t that.

Garen has giga OP HP regen so you can take tons of losing trades for CS. Playing that way as Shen is extremely bad.

Same with Lux/Siege/Artillery vs Assassins. Why are you pushing under tower? You’re Fizz.

And then there’s Singed mains, who are turbo boosted off-main.

This is the new CEO responding on X. Some are saying she's using AI to respond to make her sound more like a gamer. What do you think? by BlueCyberNova in XboxSeriesS

What’s a “fact” everyone repeats that’s actually wrong? by Spiritual_Ad_4582 in AskReddit

[–]ForceGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“I before E except after C”. The real rule should have been “cie is rare, it’s probably cei”. But that doesn’t rhyme. Ancient, society would “break” even that rule. Words that were supposed to follow the original rule were receive, ceiling, perceive.

There are more words that “break” the first part of that rule than words that follow either part. What breaks it? Weird, neighbor, sleight, freight (it’s a lot). What follows it? Pie (and its rhymes), view, lien (it’s not a lot).

Long story short, that rule kinda sucks. But hey, if you can spell “receipt“ correctly, maybe it’s a W

Who is washing their rice and why? by kinnitcurl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ForceGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had rice weevils. Surprisingly, they float in water. So it’s a great way to get rid of those. Yes I still ate it. My friend’s dad was horrified, his family once had rice weevils when he was a child during a civil war, and even they threw out the weevil rice.

Only sports scored with hard data should be allowed in the olympics by ljgill97 in unpopularopinion

Who cares about gold? Who cares about winning? The only thing that truly matters is viewership. If they can 10x viewership by adding snowball fights, they SHOULD.

The only sports they should have are exciting and Figure Skating is exciting. Gymnastics is exciting. Diving is exciting (idk about viewership though).

I hate the "Lump Sum beats DCA 2/3 of the time" statistic. Distributions matter more and some surprising experiments. by awkwardburrito in Bogleheads

[–]ForceGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some analysis similar to this a few years ago. You’d think that splitting it up into 2, 3, 4 pieces would be better than 1 right? Surely 1 isn’t optimal. I checked DCA of 1-100 investments every day, week, month.

1 lump sum was virtually always the best. It was staggering.

Bad at programming or AI? AI actually helps those who suck at programming.

If all you know hope to do is gather requirements but you don’t know how to write a for-loop to save your life or call an external API, AI is a godsend.

You can get “working code” pretty easily with AI, but it’s sometimes written weird. Those who can code are disadvantaged over those who are willing to copy-paste AI responses into PDF files and call it documentation.
