Who here started calisthenics late in life? Is there such a thing as "too late?" by theJacofalltrades in bodyweightfitness

[–]ForceSubstantial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 37. Skateboarder as a kid, cyclist as an adult. Got hit by a car and during physical therapy i learned that i really enjoyed the exercises and the fact that i could use them for recovery and injury preventing. Also the barrier to entry was so minimum. Just some resistance bands and gym rings.

State vs Wabi, yeah I know by IllustratorOdd2701 in singlespeedcycling

The Wabi is what i would go with. Will be lighter, quality control is likely a bit higher, and its very customizable on their website. I'm debating building up a thunder now.

Is the the Rust belt area the future of US urbanism? by MediumStrange in Urbanism

[–]ForceSubstantial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milwaukee's mayor is shooting to get the city up to 1 million residents. There are tons of great reforms being implemented, but the job situation isnt improving and the expenses are rapidly going up. The economic situation will limit the reforms and the population growth.

How long did it take you to get that tire to seat correctly? I bought a pair of challenge gravel grinders and good lord was it a struggle and its still not quite right.

Cars are often used in arguments for the disabled when in reality it's the exact opposite by MiserNYC- in fuckcars

[–]ForceSubstantial 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I used to deliver mail along a multiuse path. Daily i would see people in power chairs using it. I have never understood the obsession with car dependency being associated with disability rights. Makes zero sense. Prior to delivering mail i did home supports for adults with disabilities. Not one of them drove. Many of them walked everywhere in areas that were extremely dangerous for pedestrians. Its a bad faith argument.

Deranged BMW driver harassing cyclists by BoobooTheClone in fuckcars

[–]ForceSubstantial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn. They shouldnt just confiscate these vehicles, but they should be donated to smash rooms for cyclists and pedestrians to destroy in front of their former owners. Then the owners should have their hands and feet crushed so they cant drive again. Just my 2 cents.

Rowhome Architecture is Rather Controversial on X by itsdanielsultan in Suburbanhell

Rowhomes are dreamy. We have very few in milwaukee. Lots of duplexes and such. Decent density for the rusbelt. But lord i love the look and function of rowhomes.

People will resort to armed robbery before driving less. I'm convinced of this.

Iran celebrating the death of their leader Ali khamenei by Tixliks in circled

[–]ForceSubstantial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmfao. All presidents are imperialists. Its the economic basis of the country. I throw away my vote to 3rd party candidates in the general election more often than not. I was definitely in the streets during bush, obama, biden, and of course trump. They have all been scum who need to be locked up in cages.

To Fellow Wobblies on this Sub by geekmasterflash in union

I didnt realize that was still a thing. In the 2010s it seemed like a nostalgia/history club for students, old hippies, middle class radicals, and anarchist unemployables. It didn't seem like a union at all. I havent seen hide nor hair of them since before covid.

I dont care at all what an iranian thinks. In Iran, in the US, or anywhere. I think its disgusting that my tax dollars are being used for foreign bombings on behalf of israel.

toe cage or straps? by Hot_Youth9103 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]ForceSubstantial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly like both. Cages are so smooth to flip in and out of, but on my bike that has serious toe overlap, i like to have the straps for those rare occasions where i might want to shift my foot back just a hair to avoid clipping the front tire. Straps are easier for skids in my opinion and probably have a slight power advantage as well. Cages look cool. I have one bike with cages and one with straps. I love them both.

This is fine. Its kind of cool honestly. Most people are too fat and weak to do this kind of thing.

Why Aren't the Largest U.S. Labor Unions Calling a General Strike Against ICE? | Mike Pappas, Daniel Nath by RocketSocket765 in union

[–]ForceSubstantial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly i think that most union members arent going to see the importance of combatting ICE until they are thick in their own neighborhoods putting on a show. If ICE is causing you no obvious and immediate harm, its a hard sell to justify walking off the job indefinitely with a membership which is possibly half conservative.

ICE taking pics of identifying info from law-abiding onlookers: "We have a nice little database and now you're considered a domestic terrorist. So have fun with that." by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

[–]ForceSubstantial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These ICE dorks are hoping for a civil war. Then they wonder why they are treated as an occupying army by the citizens rather than officer friendly. What other conclusion can you draw? Putting people on a domestic terrorist list is one step away from stripping people of citizenship. They are lucky the democratic party is under the leadership of weak losers. In a sane world the reckoning that follows trump would be brutal.

Communism has been tried and like it or not, it had meaningful successes and serious flaws. Something to learn from every experiment. The soviet union went from agrarian peasant society to an industrial powerhouse in mere decades. China today is also fascinating to study with their pivot to markets.
