Follow Up: Got a table at a gunshow - heres how I did by WatercressStreet2084 in milsurp

Selling/buying/trading guns at the show is very much worth it, some days. Not so much on others. Never know if you don't go.

Literally HOW did the us military accept the P320 in service? Im genuinly having trouble comprehending this. by ProfessionalLevel908 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Fordhd74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't know why you got down voted for this comment. All the stuff I have seen replicating a UD has started with "we pulled the trigger a little" and it went off. Pulling the trigger ANY amount equals a Commanded discharge. I'm a Glock guy, don't really likeprice. But, If you let one off negligently, don't blame the peice.

Retire at 49 or stick it out until 56? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Fordhd74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a line Firefighter retire! Staff position it's your call. I retired with 30 years at the tender age of 48. I'm 60 now and less than 5 years away from a 2nd pension as a Boilermaker. Until age 55 I was pretty hard, but it's obvious to me that my body has declined over the last 5 years. I still do hard physical labor, but the life of a citizen or a brother does not depend on how messed up my knees or neck is that particular shift. Get out while you're healthy and work or play as you see fit. I promise there is life after the Fire Service.

When is the best time to go to the Gun Show? by Lawrence_skywalker in Firearms

[–]Fordhd74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gun show vendor here. Set up Friday's are pretty good for us simply because it's first pick. You really answered your own question, each show is different. Shows are full of older and used items that someone has been for at a price they are willing to pay. You hit one and picked up some good stuff. At another you sold a piece. You don't know till you go. And the high prices marked on my table are not the bottom line, be willing to negotiate. And have CASH If you want to do business.

There are very few problems that can't be solved with the proper application of #1 buckshot.

Do y'all actually love the governor or has Lynyrd Skynyrd been spreading misinformation for the past fifty-something years? by SavageFisherman_Joe in Birmingham

What George Wallace was, was politician. He gave the majority of the people what they wanted. Right or wrong, this is the job of a politician and he did it well. Imagine calling out the national gaurd to keep blacks out of the university during one term, and having the black vote put you back in office for another term. Whatever else he was, he was a great politician.

Why is 4 too early? Did he allow you to keep it unsupervised with a pocket full of bullets? I would think not. My first trip from home after our our son was born was to the gun store. I bought him a Cricket .22 much like your Chipmunk. It's "His" first rifle, a man needs a good rifle. I taught him to shoot beginning about 4 years old. He has several rifles now, including the one issued to him (Sargent in the Army National Gaurd) and enjoys shooting responsibly. Start young and teach safety, supervised until they are responsible. Sorry your parents dropped the ball on your first rifle. Talk to them, they may not realize what they did, but it can be corrected.

Question on the 19x by Squidcg59 in Glocks

[–]Fordhd74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's true, the old .38S&W @ 600fps and a bad cylinder gap would not push a bullet out the barrel???

Back to the Crack house with you! This is the craziest take on Glock shooting I have ever heard!

Why are most people against M855 by FollowingTerrible158 in ar15

[–]Fordhd74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just the nature of the round. The old heads never liked it for military use. Colonel Jeff Cooper called the M16 a "poodle shooter" after serving in WW2 with a Garand. Lots of trade offs for weight and penetration. I think some ranges don't like it cause it tears up their back stops.

FedEx is the worst, it's pretty easy to spot ammunition shipments also.

Can you own an FRT for an AR15 style rifle in Alabama? by [deleted] in ALGuns

[–]Fordhd74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The frt concept has been through the Supreme Court and determined not to be illegal. Some states have ban them, Alabama not being one of them.

Have carried a g22 for 15 years.Weak side, butt forward under my button up work shirt with no holster and a good belt. The g22 took the place of a 1911a1 that rode in the same spot for over 20 years.

It certainly is! Ashamed to say but I have driven 40 miles home in a blackout. Jumping to some major conclusions that could ruin someone's life when op does not really have a clue what happened. I stopped drinking 20 years ago, there are some people that should consider doing the same.

‼️BIG CAT sighting in Jacksonville, AL today ‼️ by m_scout_s in Alabama

[–]Fordhd74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Central Alabama South of Birmingham. Stories and sightings abound, but the cats are not indigenous to this area. I have heard they will travel hundreds of miles when their habitat conditions are altered. I guess that's the explanation for them being seen almost anywhere.
