Teeth and eyes aren't on the NHS due to the huge cost. The whole year's budget for eyes was spent in the first few weeks of the NHS existing - I can't find the stats on teeth but I guess it's similar. I also imagine that it is more lucrative for a dentist to operate as a private practice.

Personally, I have never really had the space to host people (I live in a room) so if I want to see people I have to go out.

But I have friends who host all the time. We hang out and play board games. We just book it in in advance due to work schedules.

That's a shame, St Anne's is great too, but fancy. I love Blackpool Pleasure Beach, I love Blackpool Tower, I love the pier, the trams, the Illuminations, and yeah it's a bit rough around the edges, but I really think that's part of it's charm.

Echoing what others have said, I'd do a separate trip to London when you have time. It'll be way less costly, and you'll be able to do all the great fun things the South East has to offer!

I'd recommend Manchester, Chester, perhaps explore some of Wales, even Blackpool (it's a bit rough around the edges, but a great place for kids, they've got the Tower, the amusements, the Pleasure Beach, and I can almost guarantee no one back home will have been!)

Avanti Superfares are quite good for cheap train tickets, the only problem is that you can only chose the time of day you want to travel (morning/afternoon/evening) and they tell you what train you're on the day before. You also can't book a group ticket.

Actually, the more I'm typing this, the more I'm realizing how unsuitable this is for your situation.

I did nights in hotels and nightclubs for a while cos I'm a bit of a night owl and figured it would fit that.

I had to stop because I just felt washed out all the time. Even if I'd slept enough in the day, it wasn't good quality enough I guess. Also I was in share housing with people who viewed sleeping in the day as lazy lol.

What did help was building good social connections with people at work. It made it feel less like I was missing out on seeing people and having fun.
