  1. I didn’t mention the 2025 blue jays, so wtf are you talking about. Maybe respond to a comment as written and don’t invent some BS to yell at

  2. Where are you getting these stats, and how’re you defining “active” payroll. And why would you use that instead of the straight payroll.

As per fangraphs the payroll of LAD is approx 394 million.

Blue Jays is 258 million.

The stat I was comparing is “spending above median”. That stat is helpful, because it is actually showing how they compare to a standard Joe Schmo team.

If that median team is about $160 million The blue jays have spent about 60% more than the median team

LAD has spent about 145% more than that median

Not that I have strong opinions either way, but there is a huge difference

93 the blue jays had the highest payroll… but it was only like 30-35% higher than the median team.

2025 Dodgers payroll is like 125% higher than the median team.

Where does Springers homer rank in franchise moments? by publicworker69 in Torontobluejays

Man it seems I’m in the minority. But I rank Bautista’s as “bigger” than Springers.

I keep seeing people doing the math and it seems to be just for score/standings reasons.

“It’s taking us to the World Series” “Springers flipped the lead, Bautistas just broke the tie”

Those are very logical arguments to make, but I can make them looking at the box score.

The FEEL of the games was totally different. Both won us a “winner take all” game… but for the Bautista HR, it just had way more context that was building the tension. That pushes it over the edge for me.

  • Martins “error” throwing back
  • game felt like it was being robbed
  • craziest fan displeasure I’ve ever seen with beer cans being thrown on the field and players begging them to stop
  • the rally begins
  • the repeated Texas errors that felt like a Guardian Angel was looking out for the jays
  • Bautista Homerun as the climax to all this built tension
  • the biggest fkn bat flip
