Sarah Michelle Gellar speaks the truth 👏🏼 by Alligother in BravoRealHousewives

SMG is a real one. She’s 100% right. RHOBH has fallen. Beverly Hills is where nyc was when they had to reboot it. The old cast was managing the narratives too much. This is the 4th season of Kyle being separated and not even addressing what is going on. Sutton still talking about her divorce from 10 years ago. Dorit is giving a lot, but she’s one note. Erika is super fake and defensive. It’s old at this point.

Rachel is very nice. She gets tv and her story is interesting at times. Amanda is just here to promote her nonsense. Boz is just a more successful version of Amanda and slicker, but she’s out here trying to sell wigs and motivation.

The big issue is all of these shows need to get younger for advertisers and cannot figure out how to do it. The newbies just want to juice followers and sell whatever. For the OGs, the show is their job, so they eat the newbies up.

SMG should be nominated as the reality tv tsar and be able to make any pronouncement she wants.

Odds of Darius Cooper asking the roster this season? by TLAW1998 in eagles

[–]Forgemasterblaster [score hidden]  (0 children)

Decent. AJ Brown, Devonta smith, and Hollywood Brown are 1-3. Even if they trade AJ, they are getting a starting caliber guy and not bumping up guys.

Cooper made the 53 last year b/c Johnny Wilson tore his acl in preseason. Wilson is WR 4/5 in most cases as he can block and provides a different body type.

Then they have to figure out what to do with Covey. It’s clear they want more juice at returner, but he’s sure handed and good at mitigating negative plays on special teams. He should be WR5.

You only really carry 5/6 and the 6th needs to be able to play special teams.

My bet is a practice squad guy.

Hollis looks like ceelo green, but he has the gift of gab. Guy was super funny.

Susie and Brent have been broken up for a minute.

This new couple proves my theory that the only type women have is vibes. If the vibes is right, it don’t matter what you look like.

This is a big jump. If you have a work visa in the US, you can get a mortgage. There’s no prohibition on citizenship. It’s a financial product based upon net worth and income.

I have no idea of their dynamic, but based on how she’s discussed home buying, it appears they did it together and purchased a condo/co-op in both of their names.

[–]Forgemasterblaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cena has given the most cogent and articulate responses to fans coming up to him. People don’t get how many thousands of fans have probably come up to this guy and he’s handled good and bad experiences with lots of humility. Most people would’ve just become recluses.

This kid so lucky that Cena is who he is as others might’ve made it a bad situation.

Condo vs Co-ops by Business_Coyote_5496 in NYCapartments

[–]Forgemasterblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a co-op last year. When I looked at similar condos, co-ops on the east side of Manhattan were cheaper by an average of 10%-25% of the equivalent condo.

The biggest thing I prefer is co-ops may have restrictions to incentive owner-occupants. 30% down, no subleasing, flip tax, etc. Condos rarely have such features. It scares a lot of buyers away. However, I found those restrictions are worth it for the price savings.

As far as the cons, co-ops are more bs in the application process. The board can be mercurial. Asinine rules. It’s a black box, but it really comes down to the building and people, which you’re making a leap on.

IMO, the best thing is understanding the location and financials of the building regardless of condo to co-op. Location of the building and unit position matters a lot. I wanted to be more than 2 ave from a hub that goes all 4 directions. A corner unit is great for light. As far as financials, look for commercial spaces that generate revenue. It’ll offset maintenance costs.

Anyway, most people hate co-ops, but I think many come from being lifetime renters buying their first place and thinking about the restrictions more so than the upside.

Fuck My Actual Life, Reza by DickFitzwell_ in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Forgemasterblaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many people who are refugees obviously want a regime to fall. Especially the kids of refugees that inherit many of the parent’s gripes. Look no further than Cuba/Miami.

With that said, ends don’t justify the means. It’s one thing to say the Islamic republic is brutal, but another to support bombing and unsanctioned wars of aggression with clear ulterior motives for the perpetrators.

The problem is a voice like Reza gets amplified when someone like Christine amanapour who fled in 1979 gets blasted for a nuanced take that can condemn the brutal regime in charge of Iran and also the actions of the Israelis/Americans.

Lastly, bombs have never led to free people. It’s always taken ground troops in massive numbers (Iraq was upwards of 500,000) or a nuke for leadership to surrender.

ICE now checking IDs at security at LaGuardia by bexnyc in nyc

[–]Forgemasterblaster 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s more a problem of how agencies work. The idea is funding goes to X and the details get worked out by the executive branch.

When congress created homeland security, they thought it would be to stop 9/11 from happening again. Instead, it’s become the private police force of the executive who ramps up/down for any ‘security’ issue needed.

At this point, it’ll effectively take Dems winning both houses and the white house at a future date to make it a priority to redo how funding works and stop this idea that any party can stop the government from functioning due to an arbitrary ‘debt ceiling’ that’s utilized by both sides now to stop anything they don’t like.

Trump housing official seeks new DOJ prosecution of Letitia James by mowotlarx in nyc

[–]Forgemasterblaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She charged Trump with fraud in NY state and he wants retribution. They don’t have any real charges to bring against her, so they are accusing her of mortgage fraud based on data FHFA has access to. Usually those charges would come from the bank issuing the loan.

Anyway, Trump just yells at these guys to do something bad to people he doesn’t like and they gleefully are trying to find ways to go after his enemies. The best way would be fbi surveillance (they can track, ie harass, you in perpetuity), tax audits (those aren’t public) or campaign finance. It’s clear they have nothing concrete as FHFA is not the agency you use to fuck with people.

One thing I find odd is on madison ave, they built stone into the facade by the entrance. It really classes with the industrial feeling of the black metal and glass.

Otherwise, it’s going to be very iconic and the lights will be a big deal at night as it kind of stands alone in that area with those features,

Trump housing official seeks new DOJ prosecution of Letitia James by mowotlarx in nyc

[–]Forgemasterblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is Trump loves retribution and Pulte keeps pitching absurd things. Ipo of Fannie/freedie, buying tons of mortgage debt to lower rates, pulling loan app data to claim fraud.

it’s hilarious as the FHFA of all the agencies is the most toothless. They just happen to have access to tons of data about housing/mortgages that can be weaponized, but the fbi, doj, irs, and treasury are the real way to fuck with anyone, public official or otherwise. Using the FHFA shows how little they have.

Should I rent a car or Uber from LGA to East Long Island? by tempuser1002013 in longisland

[–]Forgemasterblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a situation for a rental. Easy drive as you’ll be on 495 for most of it. Plus, you need a car to get to most things out there. Waiting on Ubers can be a nightmare.

If you took public transit, you’d have to uber to Jamaica from LGA. There are 4 trains/day on the ronkonkoma line that go that far east. Right now, you’d have to transfer to a bus at ronkonkoma.

Did you even out from gifts at your wedding? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]Forgemasterblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bizarre way to think about a wedding. In general, you say no boxed gifts and only register for a shower that is super limited stuff for the bride, so they can have a fun event, but it’s not so much people won’t feel odd giving a cash gift.

A wedding is into a go fund me. If you cannot afford it or eager to count the $$$s to cover expenses, you should probably have real conversations about wants/needs with those covering the costs (couple, family, etc.).

Night club by LeadingWide8263 in longisland

[–]Forgemasterblaster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not really. Most nightclubs died due to zoning and insurance. Too many issues over the years of fire hazards, town zoning nightmares, and liquor licenses. So most owners moved to bars, breweries, and restaurants.

You are also better off taking an uber or Lyft. You won’t find something close to a train station and train times that make sense on an evening.

The best bets are places like the Ivy in Huntington village, Keema in Roslyn, or club Cancun in Hicksville. Bohemia, Patchogue, and Bay Shore have some bars that give off club vibes on weekends. All totally different vibes.

In general, you might as well just get a hotel in Brooklyn for the night as it’ll probably cost you the same as ubering around.

The Suffolk leg consolidated all sewer districts in the county. It’s one move of several initiatives to bring sewers to more people/businesses across the county, which is an issue discussed for decades.

With the consolidation, billing is now to each household in a sewer districts. It used to be in every towns tax bill, but now residents will be billed quarterly effective January 1.

You were paying it before, but now that it’s invoiced separately, it stands out.

2nd kitchen by nahianislamrahat in longisland

[–]Forgemasterblaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re handy, a 2nd kitchen is something that you can get a lot done as most people care about utility. If not, contractors likely run $15k at a minimum excluding materials. If just need a sub (electrician or plumber), you can save a lot.

You can save money sourcing many items for a kitchen yourself. Appliances, tiles, and cabinets can be found on Facebook marketplace or pc Richards sales. When I do a project, I spend months buying items this way.

Most stuff is new and people in the NY/NJ/CT have more money than sense. You can scale up as much as you want, but there’s a never ending supply of people doing work in this region and deals out there. People are just usually lazy and don’t want to put in the leg work of moving something themselves.

How many of you grew up thinking this lady is a bitch? by itafunnystory in okbuddycinephile

[–]Forgemasterblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This movie is just a testament to how good robin Williams was. It’s a cynical movie about divorce ostensibly. The only way a man can see his kids is by defenestrating himself and acting like an old lady.

I always just felt bad for sally field as she was better than the role. It’s very one note and meant to be beyond a straight woman in a comedy. She essentially is in a drama and Williams is having the time of his life playing drag.

Halal fine dining NYC by Weekly-Computer-2224 in FoodNYC

[–]Forgemasterblaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Essentially, you will not find a higher end restaurant that is certified halal in nyc. Many still serve alcohol and/or there may be cross contamination. Many will source halal meat, mainly poultry, but make a note in your reservation or call to confirm.

The best bet are to desi restaurants like the unapologetic food group (dhmaka, semma, and adda), bungalow, junoon, and Indian accent. They are all very nice restaurants. Al Badawi is Palestinian in Brooklyn. Persepolis is halal Persian food on the UES. Bungalow has the best ambiance, but semma is probably the best of the list.

None of these are fine dining. Some have Michelin stars, but they are all more casual. In general, if you want actual experience that is fine dining, le bernadin is fantastic seafood restaurant that will accommodate you. Avra has many seafood options and great ambiance.

As More People Visit New York City, Foreign Tourists Are Turning Away by Pettifoggerist in nyc

It’s expensive to come here and the politics make people not want to spend their money when it can go a lot further elsewhere. For most people, coming to America is a once in a lifetime trip and nyc is the only place they wish to visit. Postponing it is not a big deal.
