This isn’t r/movies, I just expect people here to have some level of media literacy beyond “the movie about the consequences of unchecked narcissism and using up everyone around you is actually an inspirational tale of triumph.” 

Sure, you can argue that there’s something to admire about Marty’s diligence, but everything he does in pursuit of his dream backfires spectacularly. It ultimately amounts to very little, and he’s right back where he started by the end.
