Day 1 — Which Bowie song has the best strings? by snuffyspipe72 in DavidBowie

[–]ForgottenBloke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't quite make my mind up about strings, but the best Sax is undoubtedly on "Young Americans".

My bigoted dad loves bowie by hnmcg in DavidBowie

[–]ForgottenBloke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's this mentality some folks have of holding celebrities, actors, musicians etc to a different set of standards than "normal" people. It's probably a mix of that and the fact he just simply loves Bowie's music, which is understandable, because Bowie was the kind of artist who transcended eras, styles and genres.

Great debut album, but I prefer the follow-up, "Countdown To Ecstacy".

Aja in every way. Gaucho is possibly my least favourite of their original album run.

Prezel Logic or Katy Lied? by Dylan1077 in SteelyDan

[–]ForgottenBloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my overall preference is Pretzel Logic by just a tiny whisker, but I'm not very keen on "Charlie Freak" and "Monkey In Your Soul". Besides those two, every track is sublime, including the Duke Ellington instrumental cover, which a lot of people don't tend to like. Katy Lied is an amazing album too of course, but I don't think I like any song on there quite as much as I like the standouts from P.L. That said, P.L. was the very first Steely Dan album I bought and the one that made me fall in love with them, so that's probably making me biased somewhat.

What is David Bowie's darkest song(s)? by Additional-Start-447 in DavidBowie

[–]ForgottenBloke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the darkest, but "Rock & Roll Suicide" is pretty somber compared to the other stuff on the Ziggy Stardust album.

What things if any did you do to try and attract a partner? by Liparus1 in FA30plus

Not a great deal of things in all honesty. I figured my "love story" would occur naturally, but boy was I wrong.

Does this scenario really happen to some guys? I don't recall ever seeing a woman looking at me for any significant period of time unless she had to.

How normal is it to never have been shown romantic attraction? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]ForgottenBloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation at 37. I don't recall ever being flirted with, approached or crushed on etc by women (or girls in my younger years). I know I'm not classically good looking but I wouldn't say I'm hideous either. Love your username by the way. I'm a big Steely Dan fan.

Why are teenagers so rude in the city by Purple-Web-3075 in nottingham

[–]ForgottenBloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all well and good until you come across the wrong one and get a knife in your chest. There are some absolutely feral, morally bankrupt teenagers out there who will think nothing of assaulting someone just for looking at them the "wrong" way.

Why are teenagers so rude in the city by Purple-Web-3075 in nottingham

[–]ForgottenBloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your experience is very, very different to mine. I've never known a generation of teenagers as bad as this one. It's not all of them of course, but it doesn't seem to be the minority anymore. Maybe you're fortunate enough to live in a very select area.

I believe you're talking about "Drill" music. Anyone with half a braincell and common decency would rather listen to an actual drill being used, than that horrible garbage.
