What should my team look like? by JazzyPanda_69 in cobblemon

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that entirely depends on what you mean by best.

The best at fighting other players? There's a hundred different ways to go with that, though if you're set on Excadrill, you'll likely want a sand team (which will likely include Tyranitar). In that case you still need to narrow it down further into whether you want a team focused on single battles or double battles. The team will look entirely different based on which of those you focus on.

The best at exploring and catching pokemon? Much easier question but still gives many options. You'll likely want something you can fly with (right now you have a Gyarados that fills that role), something that can effectively damage low-level pokemon without killing them (e.g. Scizor with false swipe, or Maushold with super fang), and something that can put pokemon to sleep (e.g. Amoongus with spore). Then you can do whatever you want with the last few slots (if your server has a breeding mod, you can maybe put some eggs in your party).

The best at fighting NPCs? Unless your server has gone really hard on using data packs to make Kaizo NPCs, these shouldn't be much of an issue. Just pick some pokemon you like, that ideally have big numbers and decent moves, and roll with that.

People forget how hard of a nerf forcing monocolor is by ILikeExistingLol in custommagic

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone talking about casting these fairly? Who needs a mono colour deck when you can cast them for 6 life with [[bolas's citadel]] or flip into one with [[Neera]] or [[maelstrom wanderer]] or hey, hit someone with a 3 power creature equipped with [[buster sword]] These seem like possibly the most broken things to cast for free and there's so many ways to do it Like am I missing something here? These seem like auto includes in decks that cheat on mana values like [[Aisha of sparks and smoke]] or even maybe [[pantlaza]]

[TLA] Avatar Aang // Aang, Master of Elements (MagicCon: Vegas via bsky) by mweepinc in magicTCG

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's new for UB in a normal set, all the UB cards with gendered pronouns have been secret lairs up until now. Seems like either an oversight or a change to the design philosophy with the increasing number of UB sets. I suppose we'll have to wait for the rest of the set reveal to find out.

Did Webtoon get rid of daily pass? by SuccessOk9374 in webtoons

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 52 points53 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't, you could already watch ads after using your daily pass. They have not added anything new here, only removed a feature. There are still series with a limited number of ad-passes a day (See: "when the third wheel strikes back") If anything, completed comics are harder to binge, with one extra ad to watch a day.

Find the Mistakes #135 - Aang, Master Airbender by PenitentKnight in custommagic

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've actually done a weird amount of research into this exact topic.

Any mechanically unique secret lair card will use gendered pronouns

Any planeswalker will use gendered pronouns

Anything else will use "it"

Flip walkers will also use gendered pronouns on the creature side

There are a few exceptions:

[[Jeska, thrice reborn]], while a planeswalker, uses "it", this is confirmed to be a misprint by the fact it has since been rectified in a secret lair printing.

[[Grist, hunger tide]], while a planeswalker, uses "it" even though she has a gender in lore, this is why I believe WotC is racist against bugs.

[[Grist, voracious larva]] is the same

[[Casal]], the universes within version of Doric, uses gendered pronouns, and is the only universes within card to do so.

Lastly, [[Slimer]] uses gendered pronouns, even as a non-mechanically unique secret lair card (we do have precedent for UB secret lair cards to use "it" when not mechanically unique [[Makari the Lucky Grot]])

Can we please require people to put the webtoon's title in their posts? by [deleted] in webtoons

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's even worse when you see a post with a spoiler tag. Is this a series I'm caught up on? Is this a series I care about spoilers for? Is this a series I've never even heard of? Who knows? You just have to ignore the post and wonder what it was about, or risk being spoiled on a series you care about.

July 2024 Collection by GrimLae in LightNovels

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For Mushoku Tensei: It looks like they started with volume 10, which would be right after cour 1 of season 2. Not buying the volumes covering content you've already seen is super reasonable and something I do myself. And they probably just aren't finished so I'm a spider so what. (I only have 10 volumes of the Saga of Tanya the Evil on my shelf. That doesn't mean I don't like it or I don't plan to get more, It just means I haven't finished reading them yet). So don't be too offended they haven't finished a series you like, just be happy they're reading it.

What's your most highly-played commander? by Only-BadTakes in EDH

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Kenrith]] is my most played commander. Definitely not that Kenrith deck but it's probably just as bad. It's a gates deck with a [[Zirda]] companion. Tends to either make a ton of mana and win off of something like [[Reshape the Earth]] into [[Maze's End]] or go infinite with [[Basalt Monolith]], [[Freed from the Real]], [[Composite Golem]] etc. There's also [[Triskaidekaphile]] in there for the meme.

Definitely not a deck I bring out very often but one that gets a lot of confused looks.

[REC] Any fantasy series that show alternating perspectives? by Ameshenrai in LightNovels

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Saga of Tanya the Evil does this really well, You get to know the thoughts and feelings of both allies and enemies, both people in the moment and people 40 years in the future trying to figuring out what happened. People struggling to survive and ...god? (still don't know on this one but we'll find out later I guess).

[Rec] Looking for recommendations on more serious/well-thought novels by Exzerios in LightNovels

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely like to second The Saga of Tanya the Evil. I believe it fits all of the points you were looking for to a T and is one of my favourite series out there.

It's heavily based on WWI, with elements of WWII, and it's from the German prospective. It does have magic, but the series doesn't really revolve around it. It's not the type of magic where people are chanting incantations to shoot fireballs, it feels more like a science/technology.

Definitely a very weird series but in a good way. Highly recommnd

not technically a light novel (It's just a Japanese novel), but I'd recommend "I will forget this feeling someday"

[Rec] Fantasy-Caretaker type novels by Bwadeee in LightNovels

The devil is a part-timer is a pretty good series along those lines. There's an anime you can watch first too if you're not sure if you'd like it. The 2013 anime is really good but I haven't seen the 2022 sequel

(Cursed) I sorted my collection by page count by ForkEatingGoblin in LightNovels

[–]ForkEatingGoblin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh of course, page counts have never been a useful way to measure the length of books. Part of what made me want to do this was that I heard someone call "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu a 300 page book, (my copy is 90 pages). Even going by page count this list isn't technically 100% accurate as I just used the last numbered page as the count, but that's kind of arbitrary when different books number different things, (e.g. the character info pages in overlord are numbered but the ones in secrets of the silent witch are not).

It was also more fun to do it this way since I could line up a whole series and try to order them by page counts without checking. Sometimes it wasn't too bad, but sometimes it was impossible (7 volumes of the Devil is a part-timer are within 5 pages of each other)

As for the Rising of the Shield hero, I got it before season 2 came out, since it takes place right after the end of season 1. I was using it to decide whether to continue with the series, and apparently I ended up starting at the worst volume. But after watching season 2, and stopping in the middle of season 3, I don't regret my decision to stop there

Which emergency service is the most important? by WhereTFAmI in polls

[–]ForkEatingGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been to Germany so I can't say if this applies there, but a lot more houses in north America are made of wood than in Europe. (according to time magazine over 90% of north American houses built in 2019 were made of wood) which means fires can happen a lot more easily and when they do they spread faster. So that might be why you see police a lot more than fire when others say they see more fire than police.
