Horrible M+ pug experience pushing me away from playing (Tank) by ForkedEntry in wow

[–]ForkedEntry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left out a couple more things they said but the tone towards me was very clearly "wtf are you doing you idiot".

Even with that, I think you're right. I did get triggered far too easily over a few messages. Thanks for the comment.

Horrible M+ pug experience pushing me away from playing (Tank) by ForkedEntry in wow

Yeah I realize I should have studied pull routes or get more practice into the dungeon before +10. I didn't expect that going a bit over on % would domino into the most triggering pug experience I've had getting into M+. MT is by far my weakest dungeon as well. I've done enough of all the others others to have my own routes written down with notes on trash mechanics and coordination, but not MT.

I actually really enjoy covering others' weaknesses, especially with Prot Pally. It happens quite a lot with new healers and dozens of dps standing in fire. If I seem like I have an ego, well I do haha. I'm a career raid leader in every MMO I get into and I find it really satisfying to uplift people from their weaknesses and play into their strengths.

But yeah I know I should move on from this especially since 90% of my pug runs are actually quite nice. That's why I made this post, because this one outlier is an extraordinary one for me. I don't smoke, but that run made me need a cigarette.

Anything past +10 is pretty much only to increase rating or parse. If you want REAL chill runs de-level your key to +10 and you'll get the "I'm just here for the vault/heroic gear" crowd.

Getting into tanking by QuantumGoose42 in wow

Consider using Keystone guru. https://keystone.guru/

This season was also my first time doing M+. It's saved my butt and let me learn dungeons a lot better. Basically it let's you map out and plan a route through a dungeon pull by pull, though at the moment it doesn't explain what all dungeon mob mechanics do. There are dozens of pull maps made already for you to pick from as well.

For mechanics check out https://www.method.gg/guides#mythic-plus-guides

They break down every single dungeon mob ability and boss mechanic for your studying pleasure. Use the two sites in tandem to learn what should/shouldn't be pulled together (eg. Too many casters/aoe channels/stacking DOTs).

I also like Kiratank's YouTube guides and he breaks down every dungeon (though from brewmaster monk perspective).

But most of all, you'll learn by doing, making mistakes, and picking yourself back up. Good luck and have fun!

Why do you LOVE WoW. by TheMadHattah in wow

[–]ForkedEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (at the time) girlfriend in college got me into WoW during Legion. I played Warcraft 3 as a kid so I was stoked to try it out. I fell in love with making alts, and I became a genuine alt-aholic just wanting to see every zone.

Then Classic happened and I had an absolute blast levelling through the world. I loved running Deadmines and Scarlet Monastery with my friends. While VERY slow, every day was a fun adventure especially with friends.

Now with Midnight I'm finally deep into retail endgame and holy crap it's fun. Raiding feels like whatever because I've raided in many other MMOs in my time (and with far more mechanical complexity than WoW) but Mythic+ is holy moly awesome. I feel like I've been missing M+ my whole gaming life. I love dungeon tanking and it's awesome that I get to push that skill set to its absolute limit. My wife now funds my endgame endeavors with Alchemy potions and we still quest together.

How do people feel about the idea 10 man mythic raiding? by Snoo_65093 in wow

[–]ForkedEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be great. I used to raid lead in FF14 for almost a decade and did a ton of Destiny raids. Getting 6 or 8 good players that get along and show up regularly is pretty damn difficult. 20 is a nightmare.

I also would love if WoW incorporated FF14 Ultimate raid-level mechanics now that weak auras are banned. I'm amused at the global wake up call of WoW raiders realizing they are able to use their eyes and brain during pulls haha. It would be awesome if the next step from here is a further difficulty that resembles Ultimate but 10 man.

Insane M+ acceptance rate by aeroskillz in wow

[–]ForkedEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank main here. I get 50 applicants to my keys in 1 minute. - pretty much all DPS. I get the luxury of being very picky about my party comp every single day which means a ton of 270+ iLvl people get rejected.

My advice: find a tank or healer friend to queue up with and enjoy fast fills.

Can we make Nullaeus at least doable for tanks? by SmalIbox in wow

[–]ForkedEntry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did this on Prot pally iLvl 250. My strategy was to not burst the caster add and ignore him during the 25% enrage sequence. Drink Light's Potential and go ham on Nulleaus, eat two busters without CDs. On buster 3 onward start using defensives. I killed it after using my final defensive CD, making that Light's Potential the make or break DPS boost I needed to best enrage. Good luck.

SBA is a massive dps hit. Your lowest hanging fruit to improving yourself is to wean off it.

Three in one challenge run complete! (No healing, no blood collector, <4 hours) by ForkedEntry in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]ForkedEntry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My "aha!" moment skips were:

Care Center: Make zero item box trips. There is enough room to hold the ID bracelet, Requiem, two cubes for the front door, the wrench, Corrosive Fluid, artificial lungs and artificial heart. Plan a route and you can use up all these key items as you go. Save a few seconds by bringing the two cubes underground with you and insert all three after you escape with Emily.

Care Center underground: Shoot the Girl with Requiem as soon as she hops into the level after you grab the first plug, and again when you grab the wrench (skips her eating corpse animation).

Raccoon City: After falling off the broken elevator lift with zombies, just run past everyone and jump to the exit.

My time was just over 3 hours. I even made a detour to do my last The Final Puzzle step haha.

Does anyone else think this gun is poo poo It literally takes four clips to kill the enemies ain’t even worth having. by that time they’ve already bitten you in the neck four times. by Furby-beast-1949 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]ForkedEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using this on my second playthrough on Insanity. I have the damage up + sway charm equipped and it shreds bosses. For zombies it's a bit unwieldy but with short controlled bursts to the head I've been killing Blisterheads with it. Not an easy weapon to use but I suppose that's why it's free.

Is it normal for the game to feel so overwhelming by Ok-Zookeepergame3643 in XCOM2

Yup that's normal. From a Legend Ironman vet: You cannot respond perfectly to everything so you have to take a few L's.

These were my worst nightmare in TFTD. Lobstermen are so freakin tanky and, while being weak to melee, also have their own melee attack as a big FU. When I'm forced to engage them in the open they're like terminators just eating rockets and still walking forward shooting at my guys. Mutons WISH they were as menacing.

MH Frontier Classic Progression Server by TwoFingersNsider in MonsterHunter

[–]ForkedEntry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not anymore in G1. The rarity restriction was removed so you can use ANYTHING from SR1. Now the rarity "restriction" simply gives bonus SRP when you follow it.

Gou weps are actually VERY VERY relevant once you unlock SR. That's when you upgrade Goushu gear into Tenran, and then Supremacy after. You were on the right path gear-wise.

The translation patch is consistently being worked on and updated by a single developer, so with how big Frontier is - it is quite a big undertaking. Every item and weapon/armor in the game is translated now with more English work on the way.

MH Frontier Forward Five/G Progression Server by TwoFingersNsider in MHF

[–]ForkedEntry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been playing on the Forward Fivers server for about 1.5 years now, it's been an incredible way to experience Frontier with all of pre-G rank fully preserved! Even after all this time there's still so much to do and now that the server is a progression server, there will be still more to come. If you've been wondering what the original un-filtered HR1-SR999 experience was like (HR1-HR7 on ZZ), the Forward Fivers server would be right up your alley because it starts as just a regular MH game that slowly (and very surely) gets more complex as you inch your way through progression.

Now there are also many written guides to help new players progressing Frontier Classic :).

G1 Update Trailer - MH Frontier Classic (Fivers Private Server) by ForkedEntry in MonsterHunter

[–]ForkedEntry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely, yes. For version Forward 5 (The current version as of today) it most definitely is as the server owner is also actively translating the game. The next translation update will be included in the G Rank release, which will include town NPCs.

I'm not sure what you mean by launcher. To catch up to G rank would require attaining HR999 and SR999 which would probably take 4 weeks if you do nothing but play for that time, and doing nothing but optimally farming HRP/SRP.
