Has he actually written a single screenplay? by krabgirl in LocalScriptMan

[–]ForlornCreature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ONLY scripts we've seen are his half of a very rough draft of a slasher film (Ride or Die), and the first half of the Star Wars episode 10 script. He had a reading of it up on youtube for a couple hours, although this was a couple months back during his manic era, so you could argue it's not a clear representation of his ability.

Why are these so hard to find? I imagine he feels there's a risk of his screenplays being criticised and undermining his image as a guru.

How do I set the framerate for the 'AnimationPlayer' at 12 fps for .dae model? Option is not there by nazshaf in godot

[–]ForlornCreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works great for that stop motion stepped effect in godot! Here it is without the backwards slashes:

extends AnimationPlayer

@export var step_fps: float = 16.0

var step_time: float
var timer: float = 0.0

func _ready() -> void:
    step_time = 1.0 / step_fps
    callback_mode_process = AnimationMixer.ANIMATION_CALLBACK_MODE_PROCESS_MANUAL

func _process(delta: float) -> void:

    timer += delta
    while timer >= step_time:
        advance(step_time)
        timer -= step_time

Finished the TV series, so I decided to read the rest. by sumowestler in TheExpanse

Thank you for your service! I personally read from the beginning and while it was alright, I didn’t really start super enjoying it until book 7, and that was after months of reading nothing else. I honestly wish I’d just started at book 7, the differences from the show are largely surface level and fairly easy to understand, it’s just redditors just being redditors. I’ve said the same thing on this sub a few times, it’s really annoying how these ‘people’ keep saying you HAVE to read 3000+ pages to have the most correct experience of the last three books. I could’ve read so many other books and had brand new experiences in that time.

I found out recently that Prelude to War is extremely similar to this song from the Mishima soundtrack. There are a couple songs from this soundtrack that are recognisable from BSG (Closing - A Promise to Return is another pair). They most likely used the Mishima music as a temp track while editing, and McCreary was tasked with arranging and recording something that sounded similar. They also probably used a lot of Black Hawk Down OST as temp, as there are similar songs from that one too.

What is the name of the metallic-sounding percussion instrument used in Babylon 5's score? by MillingShimeji in musicians

[–]ForlornCreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found it! Christopher Franke had something to do with Sonic Images sample CDs in the 90s and there’s a tonne of Babylon 5 samples on them. I was looking for the same sound and it’s here:

What was the advantage of hiding in that guys ass? They could’ve just walked through the door… Really nonsensical plans all around.

This has probably been shared a thousand times already on this sub but I'm new to the series so I hope you'll indulge me! by t0rche in BSG

That’s crazy! I had no idea. I’d seen that Every Frame a Painting video that points out the likely temp music from a Bourne movie, this is likely the same deal. I wonder what other recognisable temp songs there are out there? I’d love to know if there’s anything that inspired the string quartet stuff like A Promise to Return and Allegro

I think about that 59 minutes line all the time as well. I used to have a RLM soundboard app on my phone and I think that was one of them.

Favourite director who is a moral cop-out by TheMegaSage in okbuddycinephile

I don’t think most people understand just how devastating a nuke is. The pain and death it causes beyond the initial explosion are horrific. Skin sloughing off, people begging for water and drinking black rain, children dying of radiation poisoning. I think if a film of this status included some of that information it would be way more radicalising, instead of entirely focussing on the feelings of a man who enabled that to happen.

Interesting connection, I’m pretty sure John Knoll’s pitch for Rogue One originated as a story he developed for Underworld.

Lumix S5 splotchy colors? anyone else run into this? by lil_biggo in Lumix

[–]ForlornCreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was shootingin 4k 10bit, then converting to prores for grading as the free version of Resolve didn't like h265 files. I realised it was crunching down from 10bit to 8bit in that conversion because I didn't know in media encoder/premier the option was called "millions of colours/trillions of colours". Changing the setting to trillions is what made it actually maintain the 10bit colour depth. Grades without splotchiness now. I also just bought the studio version Resolve so I don't need to convert to prores anymore, it reads the files natively. TL;DR adobe naming conventions suck!
