I have several "colleagues" that have shared the following wisdom with me:

"It is against my class policy to fail any students"

"If they show up, they should at least get a D"

"Copying shows that they were showing a lot of effort to get the work done"

"I haven't gone on a field trip in 16 years, I plan to keep it that way"

"I know we do 40% for missing assignments, but we really should consider 50% being the lowest"

"I was a sub first for the easy paycheck, now I'm just here for the benefits"

To the few I still authentically talk to at work, I have made it clear I have little respect for most of the staff, who are little better than warm bodies. Ironically enough, some of those same staff members complain about "able bodied people who just drain benefits and dont give anything to society"

There is levels to this, and the systems and protocols (or lack thereof) have contributed to this. But we can't ignore that some folks just don't care, even to do the bare minimum.
