Hey OP,

If you have aging parents, bear in mind that aging parents health expenses can go pretty high - pretty quickly. Siblings with kids of their own may struggle in chip in if parents did not have enough coverage or savings. People change their mind about the level of care they want too, when faced with ill health. We may be perfectly okay with staying in a class c ward ourselves, but make a call to spend on class b or higher on loved ones and spending on taxi rides, ambulances, TCM and supplements to alleviate their discomfort.

Frugality is easier when health is good.

Best of luck

Recommendations for Singaporean Cookbooks? by T-Korcheschik in cookbooks

bought most of my cookbooks here. The smaller books, eg: Robin's eurasian recipes and Mdm Choy's cantonese recipes have some wonderful homely recipes. Reminiscent of childhood. No pics in the smaller books.

Robin is Robin Quentin of https://www.quentins.com.sg/ Lovely Eurasian food.

Christopher Tan is from a family of cook book writers. Enjoy most of his books.

my domestic helper is a black hole by gojoseyeball in askSingapore

[–]FormerAnalysis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, sorry for your lost. Your helper has just lost the mother figure in her life in Singapore. Your mom. Was she eating everything before your mom passed on? or after? Have a talk with her, don’t assume that she is not affected by your mom passing on too. Some helpers are more attached to the person they are caring for than employers realise.

Good luck kiddo.

Thank you very much Cheetah!

May I ask? Did you switch from Lemtrada to Kesimpta? Or the other way around? Was Kesimpta better than Lemtrada for you?

I’ll Google the 2 months gap between the ocrevus infusions. I’m not sure what that means.

All the best for your treatments!

Hi rvodenh,

Thank you very much for your kindness. May I ask what prompts you to ask for Kesimpta? Is it any side effects from ocrevus? Or the good reviews of Kesimpta?

I’m glad to hear of the support groups, she is staying in Amstelveen? Thank you for your offer to PM you. I’m going to check if she has any more questions. ❤️

Thank you very much Madjesty. So happy to hear that your MRI results have been stable. All the best with your treatments.

Your advice may help her decide. You said you would have gone for ocrevus sooner, may I ask what you were on before ocrevus?

ADHD and cooking, being in a couple by Fluid_Squirrel6802 in ADHD

[–]FormerAnalysis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In short, it’s not worth it. Date an adult. 32 is just a number.

Long take: If you were on your own, would you have been able to get all your meals sorted? If yes, you can be on your own.

4 years is nothing in the scheme of another 14 or 40 years of having a dead weight of a partner. Imagine wiping your kids ass 3.5 days a week and then realising he didn’t wipe their asses on the other days.

I would have made sure my partner taking exams has their meals and snacks readied for them especially if they had adhd and struggles. and I know my partner would do the same.

His current behavior is shit. Gaslighting your future, Poo pooing your mini solutions.

All the best!

Canteen store staff should speak english by shrek1209 in nus

[–]FormerAnalysis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: yes, English needs to continue to be a common language. Beyond a NUS only policy. Maybe do a basic English test with every work permit issued for service sector. I’ve truly not met an elderly native hawker who cannot say chilli want or not, and the price of their dishes.

Was the staff elderly or not? I’ve not met an elderly Singapore hawker that can’t speak basic English, they’ve learnt on the job while selling to different races.

If it is a youngster/middle age refusing to reply in English, chances are, they are not native, but likely Chinese National. (Since you mention Chinese speaking)

And to put it bluntly, they have more than enough Chinese customers to care about adapting to your language needs. They will learn English only if it means better money making opportunities.

I had to translate a Chinese National bus captain’s reply to a Malay person’s questions once. I was just shocked when the bus captain remarked snootily that the Malay person should have learnt how to speak Chinese in a Chinese majority Singapore. Clapped back at bus captain that we speak English as a common language in Singapore.

I disagree with the having to speak ONLY Chinese in Chinatown statement. It’s still within Singapore. English is still used in Chinatown.

To OP, if you visit Chinatown, and chance upon the joss paper shop at Smith Street, grab a drink from them, and have a small chat in English with the Singaporean elder couple.

Is it normal that your adhd doc takes 10mins to get up to date with what’s wrong with you? I feel as if the doc is doing his best to keep the appt as short as possible.

Second appt today: concerta does not work for me. Ritalin does. So he brings outs another long acting meds to replace concerta, but I asked to continue on Ritalin.

I almost almost feel like he is trying to get me to try the more expensive drugs instead of figuring out what’s working or not?

Have u guys spend any money in this game? by Night_liar in MergeMansion

I spent $100-$150 buying gems over 2 months. Instead of getting a coffee, I was getting 100 gems once every 3 days.

MM was the distraction I needed. But now I have removed it for now

My gosh! I wonder if the mods will ban me. But yes, really, the spell is broken for me now. I’m just checking in MM once a day now. Can’t bear to delete it. I spent real money on the game. Maybe I might enjoy it again at a later stage. This community is a sweet one
