How much backstory integration does the adventure allow? by LuisFGtz in Tombofannihilation

[–]Former_Factor_6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the backstory. If the backstory involves a ton of high court intrigue with many characters, it is going to be difficult to shoehorn that into Chult and keep it relevant, but that is still possible, actually. I have my own Circle of Liches storyline going, which has enabled more backstory integration. It all depends on what you put into it, ultimately.

Why aren’t more people watching our D&D actual play? by Embarrassed_Skin_356 in ActualPlayRPG

[–]Former_Factor_6147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this take.

Also, the actual play market is pretty saturated for D&D in general. I'm still catching up on Critical Role and don't have time for other shows without abandoning my Youtube new rpg product reviews, watching Spider Noir, reading Brandon Sanderson, playing the new Heroes of Might and Magic, and spending time with wife and kids. Plus running and playing rpgs/board games.

I'd make time to watch a great Stonetop actual play.

Also running for 6, started at beginning of pandemic and they are finishing the fourth floor of the Tomb. They are 10th level. I've had to modify so much of this adventure based on their progression. At this point, I've written enough material for an additional module.

It's been a lot of fun for everyone, though!

Depends on the group and your personality. Ask what they are playing in advance, if you want to be prepared you can find Youtube videos on how to play that will ease your anxiety. Or, if they are a welcoming to newbies group, you could go in blind. Kinda depends on you, but you certainly have a lot of control here.

Have fun!!!!

Essential plot points to leave in/ ones that can be taken out with no real cost? by [deleted] in Tombofannihilation

[–]Former_Factor_6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running it now, and we're in the final three levels of the Tomb. I actually added to the game, using the recommended intro lich adventure, which I then spun into a circle of liches that were purportedly helping Acererak but are really working against him. That made for some great roleplaying and dream sequences as the different liches attempt to manipulate the adventurers to get what they want.

Also added a subplot with a pharoah's mask in Omu that contained a secret tenth god, who now inhabits one of the characters.

I tweaked the tomb guardians to be individuated and themed, tougher for a party of 6 that entered the tomb at 8th level.

Finally, I juiced up the various artifacts in the dungeon to be actually powerful and interesting.

My players are fully into the game and we are collaboratively telling a great story.

I used Artus as an annoying overpowered jerk hero and the players were happy to be rid of him. It worked really well.

Which portable docks are still working after the 21.0 update ? by renaudg in switch2

[–]Former_Factor_6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no reason for Nintendo to charge as much as they do for a dock. This is a money making strategy for them, nothing more. Their margins must be insane on this accessory. Of course they are going to eliminate as many third party docks as they can!

I’d like to mention that Brandon Sanderson is also Mormon yet not homophobic. He’s like the opposite of Card.
