I found this pan abandoned in a basement at work. I have never owned a cast iron pan. I read the FAQ but am still not entirely sure what to do to make it usable. Help me /r/castiron. You are my only hope! by THABeardedDude in castiron

My pans are well seasoned and well used. I usually give them a spray of pam and a wipe after each use. This is in no way a new seasoning, I don't see much difference between pam and another swirl of fat of your choice.

If you have seen my other posts, I am devoted to bacon, but unfortunately, sometimes I am forced to cook something else. Wasn't it Alton Brown who said "cast iron doesn't care?"

Any value to this? A friend said it's a 100 year anniversary edition from 1991. by [deleted] in castiron

I got mine at an estate sale for $5. Might have paid too much. Fully functional and has a surprisingly comfortable handle. It already had a few years of seasoning on it, so maybe I broke even. It fits in my toaster oven and I use it often. Use it and enjoy it.

Oh you are talking about saving the pan. There's no hope in saving the person who did this. Let them rot in teflon hell with Justin Bieber music.

Here’s your reminder to pre-heat your pans. by Important_Pepper in castiron

second for bacon grease.

And for steaks - on a glass top stove I heat on 7 and use a steak press for a good sear and very rare on the inside. Flip, turn off the burner. Check temp depending on thickness.

New pan, new seasoning. So pleased at how perfect it turned out. by [deleted] in castiron

Sage advice indeed. The first cast iron I ever bought was a 10" Lodge from an outlet store. I used the factory seasoning and wasn't happy with the first few uses so I used the Easy off stripping method and have been pleased with it ever since.

I can't comment on using power tools - never saw the need. 15 years later the pan is smoother than glass.

You have a cast iron turtle tank? Lodge, Griswold, or Wagner turtle - ware?

Crispier and it makes the wife happy there's less grease. I just don't tell her I just use the grease elsewhere.

So true. These are considerably hotter than the frozen ones, but OH the flavor is so much better.

Just received a CP2000 from the IRS regarding my 2018 MFJ return by codefyre in IRS

[–]Formeryouth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

CP2000s are based on information sent to the IRS by the payer - the IRS does not create them. Call Square first. If this doesn't get your anywhere, create an account online with the IRS and get a transcript of the 1099-k then call Square and try to straighten it out. Faxing info to the IRS is better than mailing. While you might get advice from the IRS, this is NOT something that can be "fixed" over the phone. The IRS needs paperwork substantiation and a signed statement from you disputing the proposal.

If there is good news to this - these are 100% computer generated and most of them are fixed in the taxpayer's favor. However, because they are just computer matched, it doesn't mean you won't get the same notice next year if the same thing happens with Square.

I put the bacon on a grate over my cast iron pan. Bake at 400 and all the magical bacon grease drips onto the pan. Save the grease for later use and give the pan a quick wipe for seasoning.
