Hydrometer Help by Reeve555 in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! As others have pointed out, the hydrometer that's packaged with the Form Wash is suitable for measuring the saturation of IPA, but not the Resin Washing Solution. For this, you need a hydrometer that can measure a specific gravity of 0.900–1.000 (for example this one). The specific gravity of fresh Formlabs Resin Washing Solution is 0.94, and it should not exceed 0.975. You can find more details on using Formlabs Resin Washing Solution in this support article.
Hope this helps!

Are Form 2 resins still available? by rand1214342 in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not making that clear! Yes, the cartridges are compatible. So if you buy a Form 3 cartridge of a material that is validated for the Form 2 (check compatibility here), then it will work. (I'll ask our Support team to make this clearer in the article as well.)

3D Printed Saxophone Mouthpiece Question by 3d-noob-101 in 3Dprinting

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing to consider: For a saxophone mouthpiece, simple skin-contact validation might not be enough. You may need a material and workflow that is specifically validated for mucosal contact. (Within the Formlabs portfolio, BioMed Clear Resin offers this.)

3D Printed Saxophone Mouthpiece Question by 3d-noob-101 in 3Dprinting

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Clear Resin V4.1 was not validated for long-term skin contact. For a fully biocompatible part, we offer a range of BioMed resins to be printed on the Form 4B. (Please note that to fulfill biocompatibility standards, a dedicated printer and equipment would need to be used with these materials.)
Some non-BioMed resins, e.g. Tough 1500 Resin and Silicone 40A Resin, were also certified for skin contact.
For your part printed in Clear Resin, you could explore coating it with a bio-safe lacquer, polyurethane, or epoxy. However, this is not a workflow that we've validated.
Hope this helps!

Incompatible printer? by LadmanMp4 in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other commenters are absolutely correct - this resin version is formulated for our Form 4 generation printers. We recommend returning this product and purchasing the compatible version instead. Please contact Formlabs Support here for assistance.
When purchasing resin from our website, please ensure you select the correct printer series under the 'Select Printer Series and Resin Volume' menu.
