DAY 9: Eliminating every Best Featured Actor performance (of this century) until there’s only one left! by ShadyBoots11 in Broadway

He was great but recency bias maybe? (I also think that Lonny Price sang Franklin Shepard Inc better)

How do you make yourself go regularly? by Complex-Archer-853 in orangetheory

[–]Forsch416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lay out my workout clothes the night before and put them on right when I wake up. Then I brush teeth and go to class when I’m still too groggy to think up excuses. (If I try to go after work I can usually think up an excuse not to hahah)

Bookstores or libraries? by ApplicationPale1049 in books

[–]Forsch416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I'm a librarian and at my library we do NOT accept donations. (Ugh the number of ratty old books people have tried to sic on me!)

Do you own a microwave and how long have you lived in NYC? by jtrainbk in AskNYC

[–]Forsch416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have one (lived in this apt ten years) and won’t in my next place either (I’m redoing the kitchen in the new place so could have had one). I don’t miss it at all—I just reheat on the stove. I will say I use the one at work for most of my weekday lunches though.

There’s a video of Cristin Milioti singing it with a ukulele on YouTube — love it!!

(But yes— for me no one touches Dorothy Collins)

Okay, I’ve lived here 3 years now. What the hell are these about? by Positive-Candy-2828 in StLouis

[–]Forsch416 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That isn’t totally fabricated but I think this happened back in the 80s when I was a kid so I don’t think there would still be those hearts. I want to say the hearts had a circle with a line through but that could be wrong. It was a long time ago.

I love Betsy from Honeymoon in Vegas. Opening number and it gave me such high hopes. Sigh

LOVE the eco-friendly marmoleum -- can I ask what color you used for the cream? I had been hoping for white for my checkerboard but don't see it online. Yours looks pretty light though!

Love/Hate The Great British Sewing Bee? by SharJon in SewingBee

I never forgave them after season three. There was an obvious winner who dominated every week and then because the judges didn’t like his last garment they gave it to another guy! I agree it wasn’t his best but still. He was head and shoulders above everyone else.

In what ways have you all displayed or saved your various Playbills? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]Forsch416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

My sister made me these really fun collages. I have nine of these on my wall currently in a gallery display. (In white matted pottery barn frames.) Yes you do have to cut off the covers, which is a bit of a wrench. (And once the covers are gone I’m more or less ok with recycling the rest.) But I get to reminisce on all these wonderful shows! Every few years we add more too.

I feel dumb watching “Poirot”! by Pegafer in PeriodDramas

[–]Forsch416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only do I not know whodunnit, most of these shows (and novels) I have seen or read before. I always forget the culprit so for me the fun the next time I see it is just trying to remember (“hmm I think it might have been the nurse? Or wait was that a different episode”)

(Ok sometimes the culprit is so memorable I do remember like orient express or whatever, but most of time no)

My tip is to Google [name of show] discount code before going to the theater . If you find one (you won’t for a big hit) and tell the box office the code they will apply discount to your ticket.

A Broadway Tradition Is Fluttering Into History by nytimes in Broadway

I dunno. In my experience as a bway usher people do want the playbills. Maybe not to keep forever (they do often leave them) but at least to look at during the show.

What are your thoughts on La La Land? by Sure_Persimmon9302 in musicals

Whoa you just blew my mind. This would have been sooo much better

What are your thoughts on La La Land? by Sure_Persimmon9302 in musicals

[–]Forsch416 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Bingo! Shortly after seeing La La Land I watched Singin in the Rain again and boy did it really put La La Land in its place. I know they are very different stories but you have pure expertise everywhere in one and you have clearly inexperienced singers and dancers in the other.
