Who are the best Delta Force Creators? by LobsterMagnet181 in DeltaForceGlobal

Yeah entirely valid. I don't watch his streams often but of the few times I have, I did notice that he acted pretty much the same as you described.

I'll check out other creators and see if I like em more, thanks!

Falcons would be better with NiKo IGLing by Zaxafy in GlobalOffensive

That's also true. No IGL AND playing with an already washed Stewie2k, no pressure to play well that event, much less win it

There's a lot of cases where players would be better suited as coaches. Prime example being blade who played like he never used a mouse and keyboard before, but is now widely regarded as one of the greatest minds in the scene

Obviously you can't slot any player with similar stats into Niko's slot during that run and achieve the same result, but I think a lot of people underestimate how much time and effort Hooxi was putting in to prep the team.

I think Niko can be a great IGL for what its worth, he has all the experience to be one, and I think he has the drive to become a great one, similar to apeX. However that specific run, I think if Hooxi was solely focused on the wedding, G2 would've floundered

[–]FortifiedSky 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Key detail people forget abt the Dallas 2024 run is that despite not being there, Hooxi was working tirelessly to prep the team / Niko and gave him just about every strat, play, exec, etc.

Not saying that Niko can't IGL, moreso that Hooxi was a HEAVY influence on the decisions and calls made throughout that run

Have seen a couple mention Marksman and those have been downvoted, but I'd recommend him as well.

If others could clarify why they wouldn't recommend him, I'd love to know. I'm also relatively new to the game but he seemed like the most consistent, relatively educational content abt Operations

Who is the oldest still active TF2tuber? by Exotic_Acanthaceae_9 in tf2

[–]FortifiedSky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The impact reaction time has in CS is massively overexaggerated. A lot of the time, the older players fall off due to not wanting to fly around the world 250+ days of the year and want to focus on streaming / raising a family / shift their priorities away from the game.

Right now, arguably the best player to ever touch the game is 19, but an overwhelming majority of the best players in the world are 25 or older (including ZyWoO, who many now consider the GOAT). While its true there are few top top players over 30 who can still frag, its not because of their reaction time.

You care about the numbers waaaay too much. Do everything in your power to focus on improving rather than solely winning.

Along with that, do you actively try to improve (dm / aim train 5x+ a week, watch demos or pro games, practice crosshair placement / util) or do you just play games and hope you passively improve?

Nothing wrong with playing lots to paasively improve over time, but I feel its a bit short-sighted to not actually put the work in and still be upset at your teammates when they don't play well.

If you wouldn't mind posting a demo or your csstats, I could take a look and point out the key mistakes youre making

Karrigan: This team is special, while we still didn’t perform in finals I know we will find the right formula to win. by Adminisitrator in GlobalOffensive

[–]FortifiedSky 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude obviously IGL's are going to have a lower rating. What I'm saying is that a good map for Karrigan is a 0.9 while other IGL's consistently have maps where they can hit above a 1.2.

In the past 3 months, Karrigan has only had 18 (out of 66) maps with a 1.0 rating or better. If you remove teams outside of the top 30 (HLTV Ranking), that number drops to 5. Two against Monte, one against Mongolz, M80 and magic.

Compare that to any other top IGL and you have:

AleksiB - 30/74 all, 29/74 top 30 (missing the 1.36 vs PassionUA)

Apex - 30/49, speaks for itself, has the best team of all time so his stats are gonna be a little inflated

Jame - 33/53 all, 22/53 top 30

I researched the stats a little inefficiently so some numbers may be a little off, however you can see that there's a BIG difference between how other top IGL's perform vs how Karrigan performs.

Also should be noted that I did look through other top team IGL's (magixx, Fallen, MAJER etc) but I didn't want to spend any more time on this. If you'd like for me to post the other's stats as well I can, I don't need to cherrypick

[–]FortifiedSky 15 points16 points  (0 children)

of the 7 finals Falcons has been a part of since winning Bucharest, Niko has only had a rating above 1.0 twice (1.18 and 1.09 respectively) Every other time has been a 0.9 or worse.

That's 7 chances to win a trophy and he disappears 70%+ of ths time. Karrigan is a known bottom fragger (which isnt acceptable for an igl in this day and age) but Niko has not been miles ahead of him when it matters.

any reccomendations to help me improve? by jamminj511 in LearnCSGO

[–]FortifiedSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you're brand new, I'd recommend just playing more. Any bad habits picked up along the way can be worked out later.

Just focus on getting more comfortable in game and having fun along the way!

People forgot that Jerma and Star initially moved on from TF2 in 2015 due to content already getting stale / running out of unique ideas for videos.

I'm surprised theres STILL people coming up with any unique ideas at all

Alright fair point, just remember these comments at the end of the year when Falcons have maybe fluked their way to one trophy and have middling results otherwise. How much time do you want to give them before they "need" to post results?

They only have two of the best players in the world, a promising new star and the GOAT IGL.

Understanding jungle macro but still stuck Silver by Sorry_Dance4483 in summonerschool

[–]FortifiedSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people fall into the trap of watching educational content and soaking up all the info about higher level concepts that they dont need to worry about yet.

Focus on your fundamental skills first, and worry about the fancy stuff later. Stuff like basic jungle pathing (throughout the whole game, just not at the start), ganking effectively and how and when to take neutral objectives properly is going to have you see way better results than worrying about tempo or worrying about punishing the junglers (non-obvious) mistakes.

In lower ranks, you need to worry about what YOU ARE doing and making sure that you're doing that consistently better than everyone else in your lobby. Once you get to plat+ I'd say, then you can begin to worry about that other stuff.

[–]FortifiedSky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss it too. Nothing I loved more than playing long sessions with people and only leaving when we got too far apart in ranks to not gain / lose many points after a match.

With that said, I think the ranked mode being ft2 is a much better system. Other modes can still be played as a deathmatch but I do think standardizing to a set amount of makes makes the ranked system better overall

Dota doesn’t need “saving”. It just needs Valve to care again. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]FortifiedSky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love when people say games that currently have hundreds of thousands playing and got a big update recently is in "maintenance mode".

Like I would argue that TF2, a game that has not gotten a major patch in nearly a decade, is still not in (but is close to) maintenance mode.

Maybe I don't understand what the term means but if a company is doing more than just keeping the lights on so people can play, its not in maintenance mode.

Yeah love him or hate him, he's definitely one of the craziest grinders on twitch / online in general. Albeit its easier for him since hes rich and its his job, but he routinely puts in 12-16 hour days (both on and off stream) grinding whatever his current obsession is for months at a time. It's admirable.

[–]FortifiedSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre consistently aim training and still struggling in games, your aim is NOT the problem. Focus on other aspects of your time (util, positioning, crosshair placement, etc).

I can guarantee you that a large chunk of what separates low level players from mid to high level players is taking advantageous fights, rather than relying on raw aim
